----------------------------------------
In this clip, Aries Spears discussed the state of hip-hop and in particular the place of ghostwriters in the culture. Aries showed love to artists like Drake and Kanye West but ultimately can't put them in the same category as Biggie, JAY-Z, Nas, and Eminem. He went on to discuss the difference in approaches to creating hip-hop versus other, more collaborative-friendly genres of music. Aries also expressed disappointment at the current state of hip-hop, pointing out new acts such as Lil Pump and his hit record "Gucci Gang" as a sign of a more significant problem with the art.
Watch the clip above.

I see it like this. If a person cheats in a maths paper and score the highest marks that won't make him a mathematician. To be a mathematician you need to have indepth knowledge of the underlying concepts of maths, and you need to practice it regularly . So even if you don't score to highest marks ,which that dude got by cheating , you're still better than him in mathematics .Lyricism is kinda like that

This is how you tell a certain artist is on the same level as another Strip away all their popularity, all their marketing, and their "radio hit singles" till you have nothing but their raw talent as an MC. Nothing but lyrics, flow, messages, and songs that can move a crowd. You think Drake and Kanye can hang with that against Nas, Jay Z, and Em? There is a reason when it comes to making top ten lists that Nas, Jay Z, and Em always come up.....when does Drake and Kanye come up in anyone's top ten that isn't a mindless teenager?

@MeTriviSlipKlokDriva
@MeTriviSlipKlokDriva 6 жыл бұрын
It's more of a conversation than an interview. I prefer that type of content way more tbh. Interviews just seem flat unless it's handling something pivotal like the interview with Havoc after Prodigy's death. Conversations just get more content out if they're done right and it also allows new questions to develop naturally.

When labels spend on rap ghostwriters it's no longer genuine. It's just words, words without soul. So we're left with empty lyrics, and hallow tracks. Rappers used to lose their careers if it ever got out that they had ghostwriters. Nowadays it's common practice. Most artists are just faces with no real talent or depth in character. So now what we get is watered down and it's not real rap I'm hearing on the radio, but stolen verses, and cheat codes.

I wish people would stop comparing Kanye to Drake. Drake doesn't make beats. He doesn't have 25 Grammys like Kanye. And what sucks about it also is the fact, people still use the old clip of Rhymefest writing something for Kanye(yawn.. in the early 2000's). THERE IS NO OTHER PERSON WHO WROTE FOR KANYE. And the only thing Drake has done was write hooks for three songs. There was no rap lyrics written for Kanye. They were just hooks. Kanye writes and produces his own shit. I understand that Kanye hurt the feelings of most who doesn't like his political views. But, come on! Let's keep it real! Kanye is a legend. He proved to Jay Z when he signed him that he could rap! In spite of the constant hate! And the crap being pulled to remove his material from online, and the constant strategic removal of the views and likes on all of G.O.O.D. Music material! I hope Pusha T wins rap album of the year because it's obvious, that their movement is solid and a threat! #G.O.O.D.Music #YouCanWear350'sAroundMe

I think top 5 should go era and subsection of hip hop. For example, top rapper 1990-1999, top dj 2000-2010, and so on

I think most rappers have had help at some point at least once. You can't tell me Eminem wrote the hook or the bridge for I'm Not Afraid, same for Lil Wayne he didn't do all the writing for Lollipop.

Kanye was massively important in Jayz career, he helped construct hooks and i beleive had some hand in the writing of Jay Zs work. Kanye isnt really an MC specifically but more a rap artist/producer/visionary.

Don't underestimate the value of delivery in rap; it's about 30% lyrics and 70% delivery; That's why there are no many wack rappers selling records and so many great lyricists who are underappreciated

Nas didn't write Gettin Jiggy Wit It... Nas already responded and said he was just in the studio with Will when he wrote it, and gave Will a couple ideas, but didn't "write" the song, Will did.

I wish ppl would atop saying "Rap is a young man's game". No it's not, if you look at who's really selling the most likely overall and the top tiers, it's all older MCs.

Nas didn't write for Will Smith. This is what Nas said. Alright, let’s clear this up once and for all. I hung out with Will in the studio. And watched him write it. It was a fun studio session, and I said a line or two or three to him. It wasn’t that serious. Will Smith wrote that song. But seriously, I watched him have fun making that record on his own, and Will is a true MC,” Nas says.
