Mono compatible.
D# natural minor/G# somting-ien
This tune mainly explored the possibility of using aliasing for more convincing pitch-able HiHat BaseDrum and SnareDrum.
And using special higher tick rate to basically Time Division modulate it, without creating too much negative effect.
That is, to modulate at the 'tonal centre' of the song, in this case G#3, but detuned down a bit, at 198hz.
Thus, the carrier would not clash with the rest of the tune.
Notably, the HH is made up with two waves at different frequency.
Also, a fine example to plan your chord progression ahead, else you have nowhere to go. 😂ouch.
Hope you enjoy it.

This feels like the Very Definitely Final Dungeon of some late Eighties Sci-Fi Action RPG in the vein of Depot Nine or Lagrange Point, as ported for the Creative Music System/Gameblaster or a Nintendo Famicom cartridge with both a VRC6 and a Konami SSC+. You've come this far, so keep your head on a swivel and remember to keep your weapon and shields fully charged because you never know who or what is behind the next bend in the hallway...

Awesome as always! If you don't mind a question, how do you apply music theory? It's really tough to put it to any use for me

Thanks for bringing this to me. I'm welcome any questions or criticism any time. Heathy exchanges would benefit us all in very good way. 😂But actually, this vid is about the least applied music theory wise as it can get before 'atonal industrial😂'. The idea is to demo what could be done with TD-MA, Time Division Multiplied Aliasing, for better percussions on VERA. I didn't plan ahead the chords, and thus got caught up by my own doing don't know where to go in the latter part of the song, it's a bit repetitive even by SynthWave's standard which is very loose, or I should say 'inclusive😋'. There's wolf notes in it for passing notes for cry out loud. Added that, I'm not really feeling well for days, to feel the tune. I think in my humble view, that classic music theory it's just A tool in many tools you could use in song writing, like a can opener. You could get there regardless, like dropping the can 6 feet down😁. And it's not completely a can opener situation. I believe you've hear enough times of this, but I'd still emphasise that music theory itself is a refined collections of observations of how the greats like but not limited J.S.Bach L.Beethoven F.Liszt doing it. It's not definitive and it's evolving as time move on. Explain D'n'B music, or any dance music for that fact. I'm sure you could find some, if not most, rules that's the same, but all. This is for that what's making it pop is by using modern mixing technics that's unthinkable back in the days. So one really shouldn't feel burdened to go by the rules, that's not really a 'rule'.

But this is not to say you should carve you own musical system. You could always use them to add diversity to your work, like using AA cells on your DIY RC plane, but always remember it's just A tool in tools of many you can use. Many other tools like sound design, that's a deep rabithoo too....... In some way, that's even better way to improve your mix, add more dynamics to it to better express you feelings. Count how many progressions in dance music vs how much indepth it's going sound design wise.

@@wheatenclient3623 thank you for such a detailed response! I've figured as much, modern music doesn't compare to classical in terms of complexity of composition, but sound design is much more refined (considering that it wasn't even a thing in classical era xD). Get well soon, sending you good vibes for exploring this spanless field that is music production!

the way I think you would need the most of music theory, is when writing the porgrssion and melodiy. Since YT eats my comment twice, I'll be brief. In the writing the bassline and chords as a pair, not considering Jass Lofi and other expectations, should pull all the tricks in the book, modulations, inversions, passing notes for bassline for example. And in melody writing, sequencing, inversions, medic interest, (beat) interest, ostinato, porta/virba/tremolo instrumentation anything you can think of. Then I will write the drum tracks, everything everything that's approvable, double kicks, ghost shots, ride stick sounds. 😂I'd apologize for being this brief as I don't have the mental capacity for a third time. You can check out the playlist I got for the details of these tricks as these just names of tip of the ice brug.
