Nice and moody... the instruments remind me a lot of various Sega Genesis vibes (Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star 4, etc). It would be very interesting hearing a YM2612 version i think.

Oh wow, I recognize this song from Dark Ages by Apogee, but had no idea it started out as an Adlib demo song packed in with the hardware. I tracked down an interview of Keith Schuler (the game's composer) and apparently Todd Replogle had used Jukebox songs as placeholders while writing the Adlib support for the game and must have left this one in.

I don't know what's happening to FM6 and 7, but I've never seen an oscilloscope do this when it can still find a rising edge trigger to follow.

edit: this issue is now fully patched, github.com/tildearrow/furnace/commit/f68249f52bdbe677ed4c7465eba4a71fb107e84f I'd ask everyone to remain calm about the issue regarding s3m import, as it's a very new feature. There was a lot happening all at once, furnace localization, TIA updates. And dramas. instead of coulda/shoulda done it anyways, it's time to heal, time to lend a hand. You can do that by wait a few days for a emergency hotfix, then try all the s3m you can find see if it's fixed. if not, after a well thought outs, perhaps submit a Issues. I should point out that even OpenMPT, whose doing this for soolong, didn't hack it, even now there's still some files that don't play well. Furnace just started, and it's a very big project. I believe more consideration should be paid, as it's unreasonable to ask every release being perfect LTS quality from project this size. Thank you for reading this.
@ltva8781
@ltva8781 Ай бұрын
tildearrow was not smart here. The whole import was pushes from very initial state (in which it was for several months) to the current state in just 5 or so days, that's why it does not work properly. Tildearrow better either not include it in this release or postpone release until it works properly.
@wheatenclient3623
@wheatenclient3623 Ай бұрын
yeah...it coulda done better... but there's a lot happening at once, translation, TIA pitch patches. Idk.. one thing to know is that even OpenMPT not hack it completely, there's still some modules don't work well on OpenMPT who's been at it for very long. Just my primitive view, that's it.
@ltva8781
@ltva8781 Ай бұрын
@@wheatenclient3623 I will use OpenMPT to improve s3m/xm/it import when tildearrow finishes working on it. I will also probably create a separate system to support IT filters abd bew note actions properly.

This feels like the Robotron sequel we should have gotten for the Atari 5200, XEGS, or 7800 with an extra POKEY in the cartridge. I'm just picturing yhe nail-biting worry of the player character as he escorts his family to safety, even as he knows the robots are laying out a crossfire...

This feels like a cutscene theme in an early-mid Nineties JRPG where the party is at a campfire, getting to know each other better, and we learn more about either the Main Protagonist or the Mysterious Stranger through flashbacks, whether the rest of the party learns about it or not. If only Commodore had made the Commander X16, but with VIC-20 and Commodore 64 backward compatibility in 1985 instead of the 128, then followed it up with something even better in 1988...

This feels like the Very Definitely Final Dungeon of some late Eighties Sci-Fi Action RPG in the vein of Depot Nine or Lagrange Point, as ported for the Creative Music System/Gameblaster or a Nintendo Famicom cartridge with both a VRC6 and a Konami SSC+. You've come this far, so keep your head on a swivel and remember to keep your weapon and shields fully charged because you never know who or what is behind the next bend in the hallway...

This feels like the opening hook to the ending theme of some Late Eighties-Early Nineties action platformer by Capcom, Namco, Seta, or Atlus, in the vein of Strider, Rolling Thunder, Crime City, or Codename: Firefox. You're just defeated the big bad and escaped the exploding base with the goods/girl intact, and now there's nothing left but to drive off on Carefree Highway while the credits roll and then enter your initials.

This feels like the theme to a curscene in some Shadowrun or other cyberpunk genre game in the early Nineties for the Sega CD, FM Towns, Acorn Archimedes or the Sharp X68000 with MIDI support. Specifically, it feeles like a late game cutscene where a revelation seemingly out of nowhere, yet still carefully foreshadowed, turns the player chaeacters' world upside-down. I say this becase I want to believe that no development team or publisher (not even Sierra On-Line or EA) would ever waste this piece as an access loader, even though they probably would have...
