Arken Optics Turret Screw Torque. How much is needed and how much is a problem?

In this video i see what it takes to create a problem with the 2mm turret screws on an Arken Optic EP5 turret. The head of the screw rounded, not the wrench and the threads did not spin out.
I don't suspect most users will use an actual torque wrench to lock these caps in place. I suggest giving them a force with the wrench long end in the screw and using the short let to torque. If the small wrench hurts your finger your probably torquing too much.

Thanks Bob great informative video! For those that might over-tighten and spin the Allen in the head.. you can use a torx head to fit in there tight and unscrew it. Just pick the size to fit in there very tight and unscrew it. Worst case.. if you can't get it out.. email Arken and you can get a new Turret for low cost with new screws. But as you said use the small length of the Allen wrench to tighten it down, with NOT the long length.

Thanks for the video and info. Not sure where I heard this maybe from you, but I put little bit of vibra-tite on all of the small allen screws. So far none have loosened up.

Cool, Arken allen wrench’s have a built in click stixs Tightened it up until the allen “clicks”, then strips then rounds off the wrench and sockets. 😂

It's called dummy-proof design... new screws are cheaper than new turrets.. lol

On my 6.5 PRC my turret screws came loose constantly. The screws allen wrench socket rounded out. Decided to upgrade this rifle to a Vortex Gen lll Razor and moved the scope to a rifle with less recoil.

wouldn't those screws typically but up to a brass component? Just curious as I haven't seen inside of the turret cap. If they're making contact with the chrome plated tool the failure point would be very different I would think.

They are against a stainless part on this application

I think some people are just...dumb 😂 I've never once had mine come loose. Snug em up lightly, and no threadlocker.

Just get a pair of channel locks and turn them until you strip them out. Or break the Allen wrench off in them. Some of your stuff is good. And some of your stuff it is because you don’t get enough attention from your pet goldfish. Pretty much common sense that everyone knows but then treat everyone like they’re not as smart as you.

No goldfish here. I do however get a LOT of private massages from owners from many different platforms. Much of what you coin common sense or optic/mechanical knowledge is not so understood by many. People reach out asking me questions. When I notice it being a re-occuring issue it sometimes prompts me to make content. Other times people outright ask me to do so.....this content is that. But sure, I get it...but many don't and that's why some seemingly elementary stuff is published.
