That’s why I’m here. Under-equipped is a level 10 mission. I’m L16 and struggling to kill that thing. That’s why I’m here. They seems like quite a difficult machine for L10. But I’m not great at combat. 🤦‍♀️

Generally you see these coming due to the very noticable flares they drop that alert them, so any time I saw those I knew there were stalkers and immediately went for tall grass and loaded up some blast tripwires since they only have medium health and they'll often lose their stealth component just from the damage. Only after fighting them for a while did I learn you can trigger the alarms on purpose with arrows, similar to the tactic I learned from the comments on your rockbreaker video, to lure them into traps on purpose. The tripcaster or proximity bomb sling have plenty of range to do that and don't make a significant amount of noise.

I remember three of those bastards chasing me across the river when I first encountered them, they still make me incredibly paranoid. At least their walk had a certain sound in HZD that was identifiable, that’s how I identify them when they are cloaked. Shock weapons do the trick with them, and take out the gun, mine launcher and the camouflage generator if you can. Definitely one of the fearsome five for me: 1. Fireclaw 2. Frostclaw 3. Scorcher 4. Stalker 5. Rockbreaker One thing I will say about the Stalker, they are my favorite machine design in the game as well as my favorite override

I just shoot the bombs they drop on any difficulty and take them out very quickly…..thank you so much for the tutorials on EVERYTHING! No one explains and breaks it down like you do !!!

took me 5 tries, found this video, killed them with shock wires, shock arrows from a war bow, tearblast, and hardpoint arrows. thanks so much!

Thank you. This is the one I was looking forward to. I used a similar strategy myself (minus the freeze, which I will bear in mind for the next game as I have now finished my second run of HZD. These guides are much appreciated.

No problem! Yes, freezing is great to use on most machines for the damage multiplier. Since you’ve played through a few times, you might want this more advanced tip as well: After you get Sylen’s Lance you can deal shock damage with melee attacks and stalkers are weak to shock, so here’s the strategy; use shock arrows to stun them (takes 1 or 2 shock arrows with a well modded bow), run up to the first and do a critical hit, then immediately heavy hit it with your spear twice in a row. They’ll take a bunch of damage and get shocked again, then you can finish them off with another critical hit. You’ll want the knock down and crit hit/crit hit+ skills unlocked for this. Of course, if you’re dealing with multiple Stalkers you risk taking damage while you’re focusing on meleeing one, but this is actually how I kill Stalkers when I’m in the endgame.

Thanks, @Arktix . Yes, that's pretty much what I end up doing to. As you know, when you get into late game there are usually 4 or 5 Stalkers, and it gets very difficult to rope them all, and so a combination of shock arrows and melee is how the fight naturally progresses as it all becomes a little frantic!

Sounds like you've got it down! Maybe just try to mix in the freeze part so you can deal damage even faster.

I would use a few hardpoint arrows on some weak points on the stalker before ending the shock with a Critical Hit (ESPECIALLY the invisibility component on their underbelly and gun on their... Shoulders? Are they shoulders?). And in some locations, there's enough height to do a Strike From Above, which does more damage than a Critical Hit (situational tip, just be opportunistic about this one). And then if it doesn't die from all that, continue with the strategy that Arktix has.

Again, thanks for these videos. I have only met one stalker and that was on the Underequipped quest/errand in the first area of the game. A single stalker, and for me it was during dark night. Yikes! I just did a lot of moving, a lot of healing, and burning him. The burning made him retreat behind a slope/ditch/boulder, which gave me time to craft arrows. I could hardly ever seem him. The dark night and his cloaking. I just shot back from whence his shots came at me. I forgot about tearblast arrows.

In the errand with your first encounter with this SoB, i died without even knowing why! After respawning i saw that beast and wondered why that scrapper it's so strong? He wasn't a scrapper...

My way to kill stalkers in the jungle near the mesa where stalkers will have scanners everywhere is by setting up tripblast wire around 3-4 to kill it in one go,first you set it up on top of the alarm then u shoot an arrow to trigger the alarm once it fired up like a flare stalkers will go the spot hence triggers the trap and kill it on the spot if i unsure where the stalkers pathing i trigger an alarm to see where they come from then set traps and set another alarm but with this its gonna take awhile since i kill it in stealth rather head on. I rarely use ropecaster due to resource intensive and i find tripcaster much more fun than tying everything down.

Stalkers used to scare me. Especially since you cant see them and in the jungle area they are even more annoying. But the tear blast arrow just makes them watchers lol. I only die to them when I'm getting cocky lol

Yeah, there's a sort of Predator atmosphere, silence, just tropical birds singing and you behind a giant tree that strain your eyes to see that bastard. Terrifying...

If you can sneak up, you will find them hanging in trees so with an appropriate valor surge your first surprise shot can land some decent damage. The added bonus is that generally this way you can fight one at a time. I generally can kill them in two well-placed shots.

The Stalkers in Forbidden West seem to be more deadly than the ones in Zero Dawn. The dart gun alone makes the health bar reduce significantly, and it seems like the spinning tail attack (don't know what else to call it) can take you out instantly. I say this from experience.

Advance weapon with three elements fire,electric and ice. Load it with shock coils and handling, also a sock trap. That is just me ✌️

Usually I would use the shock bomb then either critical hit or just high damage arrows or bombs but now I might try freezing them as well 🥶

I use weak weapons for most of my fights, but to kill this thing I just laid traps and bombs and did my best to hide in tall grass.

I know I'm a bit late to the party here, but is freeze the only effect that has a damage multiplier? Like say if you shock the stalkers, would you still do a crazy amount of damage?

Good question. Frost (brittle state) is indeed the only effect that has a damage multiplier. Shock just immobilizes machines.

You’re very welcome! And good question. You certainly can use the same strategy, although I wouldn’t say it’s optimal in HFW. I find it’s better to shock the stalkers and then remove all their components, which disables attacks/abilities and deals damage to their health. If you can remove all the components you’ll have them almost dead, plus you’ll have a bunch of extra valuable loot.

One of the more fun machines to deal with. I tend to tripwire them with shock, then load them up with three sticky bombs. Sit back and enjoy the show.

I don't know why exactly I never had this problem, but I'm the sneakier kind and I was avoiding all difficult machines until I finished the Frozen Wilds (so in other words, until I acquired the most OP weapons and weaves in the game).. so Idk.., maybe it was just *luck* .... I only remember doing a quest where some supply crates got lost and longlegs and stalkers made their first appearance, but that was only one stalker and it annihilated me anyway 😐

Does fully drawing the Banuk version of the War Bow only increase the damage or the freeze/shock/corrupt effect too?

I am a huge fan of these creatures. I love their mechanical challenge and their aesthetic. They are unique in how you handle them compared to any other creature in both HZD and HFD. They honestly get me excited whenever I hunt them. NGL I have to resist the urge to buy the $1200 Stalker statue.
