Welcome to my Horizon Zero Dawn Master Machine Hunting series in 2022! In this episode we'll learn the best way to kill Behemoths. With the HZD sequel Forbidden West coming out soon, I know there's going to be a lot of people re-playing Zero Dawn or playing it for the first time. In this series, we're going to cover the most effective tactics for taking down all the toughest machines in the game. "the convoy is often passing by OTHER machine sites" My first playthrough those were some of my toughest encounters. I start out going "ok, one behemoth, easy! I can do this! set down some traps, and- oops, one went off early. Oh that longleg is doing something. Oh now there's 3 behemoths, 3 longlegs, and IS THAT A THUNDERJAW?!" Nothing in the base campaign comes close to those encounters but _they were always fun!_

I've just started zero dawn 3 weeks ago, amazing game, have stumbled across your videos, well good series, u get a like and subscribe.. can't wait to get into frozen wilds and then forbidden West..

Hey thanks Ryan! Glad to hear you started playing HZD before HFW! I definitely think that’s the way to do it with the story. Quick tip, don’t hesitate to go to the Frozen Wilds a bit early. You certainly don’t need to wait until you finish the main story. You can get some of the best weapons in the game from there! And thank you for your sub! 🙏

@@ArktixOfficial just did the main fight last night, I'm level 52, gonna head up to frozen wilds today, then complete the left over collectibles and side quests before HFW.

What I've done is kill 1 of the longlegs and then lure the 2 behemoths and 1 long legs together..then I put a shock arrow to the long leg canister thing. Or if I'm feeling lazy I just use corruption arrows/override on one of the behemoths and let them fight each other.

behemoths are so strong that honestly it is a mistake to not override them every time you come across them once you unlock the ability. override one in a caravan near a bunch of other sites and the thing will go on a rampage, be the last thing standing, and then you can finish it off.

I've been referring to these videos over the past couple weeks, and I have a really good tip for those two Behemoth's at that spawn site. Stay on top of the rock formation they circle around. The only attack that can reach you from there is the shrapnel blast but you can easily avoid that by using the ground itself for cover. Then you can safely snipe the the freeze canister and even the shock coils on the longlegs.

Huh, I'm in my first playthrough and chose the hardest difficulty and went straight to the 'frozen wilds' area after leaving the first area just to unlock it, I'm at level 31. After that I went directly south in the second half of the game and stumbled on the two behemoths attacking the settlement in the SW corner and found myself getting whupped over and over. I had to come here to find out how to beat them. I honestly didn't think the different weapons and armoUr types mattered all that much but I see now that they do. I'll backtrack and get the other gear. Thanks man.

Man, I was lucky with my first Behemoth encounter because it was in Sunstone. So there were a bunch or Carja keeping the other Behemoth company. Managed to kill both after expending lots of resources considering I had no idea how to deal with it. 😁 I thought they were Tramplers with superpowers. 😅

Hi, I'm still somewhat new to Zero Dawn (love it!) and have been appreciating your videos. question on the lifting attacks: can the Behemoths still throw boulders at you even though the force loaders have been removed? or do mine have a vendetta only just against me?

Hello, thanks a lot for the work put in this videos, you are very patient in explaining and very helpful. A lot of your strategy videos are around the ropecaster but I have a hard time having enough wire for ropes, you have a strategy for farming wire or a spot to farm them?

Hmm, I'm guessing u are just a beginner, if your not, don't get mad please. I can farm wires, but still, I'm always short on it. I basically take down big machines with Arktix's strategies and getting good stuff and wires.

You're very welcome! Glad you find them helpful 😄 And good question on wires. Actually, what I do to farm wires is first farm blaze from the Grazers in the Nora Hunting Grounds, then sell them for lots of shards, then buy wires from merchants. That seems to be the most efficient way to get wires. Otherwise, you could go farm lots of small machines in The Embrace. Hope that helps!

Don't find behomoths really bad. They are easy, predictable and their weakpoints are big and easy to target just like a thunderjaw. But the scorcher, fireclaw and frost claw are so annoying.

About the longlegs if you shoot electric arrows in the round thing in their backs it will cause a chain reaction and they explode, but you have to make sure it hits the right spot

I love this, it's very helpful -- and at the same time I'm stuck in the Hammer And Steel errand, where there's at least four of these guys, if not six. And two Shell-Walkers also. I have the two NPCs with me. Any tips for that battle?

Thanks! Glad you found this helpful. That's a tough fight with all those machines! I would definitely try a ropecaster if you haven't already. You can immobilize the machines so you can deal with 1 at a time.

@@ArktixOfficial that might have helped - but I got through it without. After I went on to a different mission (because I didn't have the ropecaster), I found myself on the opposite bank of a river from the Behemoths - and I took them out from there. Took me a while but it sure was fun 😁

I find it the easiest to kill of the big ones, just freeze them and then attack with everything you've got, their only strength is their armor.

I somehow have no problems in dodging behemoth attacks even before I watched ur vid, either because I've been rlly lucky or I've just played it multiple times and stopped playing because of school for about a year or something.

I've also noticed the crates below the behemoths, and the look is 50/50, but as far as I've seen, they give some decent-ish loot, and definitely worth it for people short on supplies or starters.

Haven't killed a Behemoth yet, but I have had a close encounter with 2 of them.... I was casually minding my own business, gathering parts from already dead machines... when I was attacked out of nowhere by Glinthawks... The noise from their attack attracted Behemoths nearby... Luckily, there were 2 NPC outlanders nearby... So I casually hauled äss outta there and left them to die 😅 P.S. Longlegs are actually pretty easy kills if you're stealthy about it. It should take about 3 hits. Just 2 Precision Arrows from your Shadow Sharpshoot Bow to the Concussive Sac on its chest will cause an explosion, dealing major damage. A well-aimed Shock arrow to the Power Cell(s) on its back should do the rest. Also, it won't hurt to get up Blaze and Shock traps with your Tripcaster

I was following this strategy and doing pretty well too. But out of nowhere a behemoth comes along and freaking one-shots me. Thankfully i was able to respawn nearby and do it again but this time, thankfully, no sign of the behemoth.

I'm curious, why don't you target the signal emitter first? They could call in reinforcements with it, and you most certainly don't want that. With your strategy it seems unlikely because they die so quickly but if something ever goes wrong then it's more trouble. I always try to target the radars and signal emiters first.

He's minmaxing by just hyper focusing on the canisters and neck since it does a lot of damage. You don't wanna waste time hitting other things when you can just literally kill them directly. It's all about efficiency. Machines can't call reinforcements if they're dead.

Soo your saying I shouldn't have gone and explored the frozen wilds at lvl 12 and struggle bussed it to get all the Banuk gear and then first arrive at Daytower at lvl 50........Oops lol 😆 looking back I don't recommend my method. Even though it made most of the rest of the game really easy lol.
