Hello Crafters-
I'm Andy, and I started making D&D/tabletop miniatures from scratch a while back and have found it incredibly therapeutic and exciting so I've decided to start filming my process of making minis. I am a huge fan of so many tabletop crafting channels on KZfaq but have patiently waited years to see one of those channels make actual humanoid miniatures (not just large monsters, although those are great too!), but none of them ever did.
In the age of widely accessible 3D printers, trying to make your own miniatures from scratch might seem a bit outlandish or outdated. However, I wanted to make a video series dedicated to those miniature enthusiasts/collectors who would rather enjoy the process of making their own miniatures in spite of 3D printing technology. I also wanted to approach this series more as a way to document my own progress and growth in the hobby rather than a tutorial vibe. I'm not an expert by any means, but I'd love to become one some day!
Too many times I've had a very specific idea for a character/creature in one of my campaigns, and no miniature I had (of the hundreds) seemed to be a close enough representation for the tabletop. After some trial and error, I've gotten pretty good at making armatures for my custom minis. Now, I am on a quest to build my mini-making skills to the point where I can create tabletop miniatures for the characters I have always imagined that are of relatively comparable quality to those being mass produced and sold. In doing so, I am hoping to save the money I would otherwise have spent buying miniatures or 3D printer supplies, and have a blast delving deep into my hobby in the process. If nothing else, this will be a fun tribute for me to look back on any progress I might make in the hobby. At best, I hope to add something brand new and unique to the crafting community and inspire others to try their hand at making a one-of-a-kind custom miniature from scratch.
If you're interested in joining me on this epic adventure, make sure to subscribe! Either way, thank you so much to anyone who watches my video, I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my craft.
Andy

Hey! I’m so glad I appeared on your recommendations! I have no clue how that algorithm works but I’m glad its finally recommending the video I made 3 years ago 😅 Yeah sculpting is so much fun! I find it super relaxing. I hope you’ll stick around my channel! I’d love to get feedback on upcoming projects I’m making when I finally finish editing the videos for them! I perpetually have like 5 different projects going, so I get very distracted haha but hoping to get more content up soon! Thanks for your comment :D

Aw thank you for you comment =) you’re so nice! I was always trying to find crafting videos where people weren’t using all the fancy expensive hot wire tables and air brushes. Plus I felt like to me, minis are more useful than terrain for imagining a D&D scenario, so I wanted to show how I make minis and then document my journey of getting better at making them. I hope you’ll stick around for the upcoming videos ^__^ I have 3 more projects done, just pending being edited (because I am suuuper slow at that hahaha). Thanks again for the really thoughtful comment! Glad you found the channel.

@@FranktheBlindArtist Thats really awesome Frank!! One idea I had for you for armatures- if paperclips are too small for your scale you could always try unwrapping one of those old wire clothing hangers if you have some! I’ve had great luck finding some people were getting rid of and have used them for armature wire before. They’re pretty easy to unwrap with pliers! Happy crafting my friend :D

I appreciate your comment! hahaha yeah… it was my first video and I was paranoid about copyright infringement stuff, so that music you hear in this video is actually original music I wrote and recorded on guitar 😅 I used it because I knew no one could copyright claim it since its my own music, but I cringe a bit listening to it now in the context of this video.
