Lathrix, you can slow down time while you're looking for the chair to teleport back to your vehicle. Gives you 10x longer to search for it. Or to build, you get several hours to build after passing a portal if you get 10x as long before enemies spawn.

Just a thought- you said that the tail looks like a separate creature. Perhaps you could make the tail detach via docking port and make it into a capturing vessel?

I am 110% on board with doubling down on the bone style. Also since the tail looks like another creature entirely why not make it one? If you can pull it off design wise, why not have it mutate off till you look like two unrelated beings grafted together by a truly mad scientist?!

Ooh, a drop pod could be fun! Just a chair, heartstone, and maybe a harpoon or targeting thrusters. It drops onto a foe, and latches on like a parasite while you climb out and capture it. Sounds kind of like a virus landing on a cell, depositing it’s rna(you) to co-opt the victim into material for more of itself

Space actually works the same both in sandbox and adventure mode. When you go over 1km, you don’t have anymore gravity, but for balance purposes gravity comes back after 2km and increase the higher you go to stop you from building stupidly high orbiting space stations of doom like the ones you were able to build a long time ago.

I think using hover thrusters to maintain the look of it in space is a reasonable thing to do

You mentioning it was bone colored made me realize that the wings look like segments of a spine with those red pipes in between being the tendons that connect them together. Like the look a lot, keep it.

23:30 hover thrusters should be used so you don't make yourself a bigger target for enemies. better to point the nose at them and provide less area to hit.

You should call your new legion The Insectoids or The Space Bugs because of the insectoid theme. I also like how the upgraded craft has mandibles on the front, while the bone-like armor is comparable to a bug's exoskeleton, giving it the appearance of an alien bug.

Lath you are going to love this! You need to attach a drop pod to this. It doesn't have to be the last boarding action. You could make a small drop pod with a chair, a heartstone, some flares, some directional thrusters with the tip made of rams and maybe a single shot high explosive cram to blast a hole. Just imagine falling down from orbit towards an enemy, blowing the armor away, burrowing into the hull with the rams and blasting blocks to find the AI. It would be awesome! Btw, a wk40k cruiser or battle barge with huge cram cannons would have been fitting for an orbital craft.

I love the raw bone and copper look. It's looks like a skeleton that has been brought back to life by the power of robotics. Basically just a steampunk robot using a skeleton as it's she'll.

So I quite like the idea of the boney bits. Of you added like muscles and sinewy strand that tapered off you would have a space born predatory critter. As for color scheme adding in pure white as a secondary color and reddish brown highlights sounds like you could be some sort of undead extra boney tyranids

The whole thing has a very Cthulhu esque theme with the chunky bone wings, but more amazing is the tail area I keep seeing a eye on the back that creeps me out. when the plane was just in its flat state during the design/build phase, it kinda looked like a manta ray for a while. so i have a few name suggestions for the space plane: - 'Manta Fly' / 'Dragon Ray' --> keeping the old dragon fly plus the newer manta ray, and mix it. not very original, i know but you have to admit that dragon ray does sound pretty cool. - 'Bone Vulture' --> it eats the corpses of its enemies, brings death from above... and has a bone theme! also, i suggest adding some lights, your plane looks a bit plain in that regard. not that i can fault the design itself, it looks way better than anything what i have designed in FTD. i'm still at the 'brick-with-wings' phase of designing.

seen some people suggest to make your tail detach and turn into a capturing craft I think it'd be really cool to have the tail detach and then orbiting the main craft being like a healing craft

Weird suggestion. Remember when you built that aircraft carrier that each time the fight ends, the planes go back and reconnect themselves with the mothership? What if, your plane could detach its tail, dangle itself using cable and act like distraction sticks. As it has the size, you could add anti aircraft on it, so it'll be like a WW1 spotting/artillery balloon, firing machineguns at the pesky planes that is circling it.

The blue scheme and the rough shape made me think of screamers of Tzeentzch. But a hungry hungry spacefighter is fine too.

Space ships typically have hover thrusters like Star Wars and Star Trek, so if you want to use them that’s fine. Also since it looks like bones, you could make it white like a skeleton. Plus I love the rail gun multi shot feature, it’s so cool. 😀🚀

The way you were talking about the weapon you wanted to add sounds like an AC130 but to mix it up you could take inspiration for WW2 bombers and have the tail of the plain be a bit bulky'er and mount and AA gun on the tail. The plain could have in the end could have a larger main cannon in the middle be HE for heavy/bulky armored targets and then the 250mm and mini guns for smaller targets/presicion aiming armed with AP rounds.

So my Idea for the Design of the Dragonfly Craft would be, to have two wings angled ca. 30° degrees apart. It would allow the top wing to take over the role as propulsion and "wing", and the bottom one can be used as armor. In my mind the 2 Railguns can be fited under the belly with a slight offset towards the wings but still fixed. I love this Series.

Turn those Ion thruster packs into VTOL-style ones, like how the F-35 does it but only for that thruster. Hell maybe even add some closest to the body whose only purpose is to be that similar to how the Harrier Jump Jets did it.

Somehow this vehicle makes me think of the phrase "Lathrixian BoneRay" and that just sounds like something i wouldnt want to be in the sights of...

The dragonfly currently just screams spore cell stage but METAL to me ^^ Both the front (with very interesting bone-y spikes at the sides and a large red "eye") as well as the tail (which looks just so incredibly similar to a cell which has gained the flagella for faster movement)

from the moment this series started, the thought of having ball turrets on the wings (top rotating seperate from the bottom of the turret with dual guns on each)never escaped my mind. id love to see some variation that in the near future also for the Space battleship, some space battleship yamato type deal would be awesome imo.

Have you considered rapid fire particle cannons? The epitome of inefficiency, but death spaghetti is cool!

for a color scheme, you could do an UFO/alien theme with navy blue, dark purple, neon greens and yellows, etc. You could also add an ion motor on the belly to replace the wing lift when in space, just to make the transition easier. You might also find it interesting to use cram cannons as bombs. it will be hard to use and limited in its target options but that could be a good challenge for you. Possibly a good option for later levels once you get bigger, slower targets. You could also make a super fast, light hitting railgun for all the light targets you will face like the flying squirrel

maybe add ion thrusters pushing you forward below the center of mass, this way they would push you up and you wouldn't have to tilt back so far in space, and it wouldn't feel like hover controls

Holy shot that space battleship prow looked amazing, the fact that it had such a flowing shape was amazing and I really want to see you turn that into a full build.

White, black and grey is usually the nicest space colour for crafts in my opinion

Space cruiser just the front piece looks great you defiantly have gotten way better at design it really shows.

Altitude decreases until 1300m and starts increasing after 1800m. For speed, drag reduction is often better than more thrust so to do this, you need to stay flat. So you can stay at 1800m or use hover thrusters for higher altitudes. You can put ducts to reduce drag in front of your reverse thrusters. Also have you considered lasers and PACs? They don't do the whole missing the target thing. A good strategy might be to use piercing rails / lasers and EMP to disable the target, then drop cram bombs which gain incredible speed from space especially with the massive gravity at 5000m to 7810m. Fusing box can change it to thump crams for more effect.

This is epic, i have been waiting for you to do a space anything (apart from a certain satiation that was pretty cool)

Lathrix, the craft (in my opinion) while in active flight looks almost like a Ghost Ray from Subnautica. You could base the design loosely on one of them. And for the "separate creature" at the end of the tail you could make some small "leech" that could detach and perhaps be capable of firing a single medium or small missile.

You know what would be frickin awesome? Building a Blackstone fortress In space!

For a color suggestion I would recommend working with a white pallet, to help prevent all that solar radiation from over heating your craft of coarse.

Lathrix, bro, you may not realize it, but you're very creative and more importantly, you're quick with creating new things. It would take me and the rest of us ages to design things that takes you hours. You're a legit concept artist. If you can draw, I'd say you should take a stab at it. Do commissions, but only take commissions you would enjoy, kinda like doing it for fun. It'd be a great supplemental income to help you maintain your KZfaqr lifestyle.

Looking at the craft’s current look, I think a dragonfly/sailfish hybrid may be interesting Depending on its size, the sail may give the craft quite an intimidating look from afar. Especially with the warm bone color standing out from the cold depths of space.

I really like the paint scheme. if you look at the body it reminds slightly of a fish. Since you are in space you could have downward facing particle cannons almost like particle cannon bombs.

I would love to see it adopt an A-10 style large mini gun in the center that runs down the center of the craft, leaving the rail guns on the outside wings like extra cannon pods. I always thought they looked awesome set up like that so just a suggestion! I do believe maintaining the mini gun as fixed would allow you to emphasize the style of climbing to space to do dive bombing gun runs on targets.

The idea of a space battleship reminds me a lot of the Hiigaran destroyer from Homeworld 2 Remastered. By the way, Homeworld is a really cool RTS game, and I strongly recommend at least taking a look at it. The only problem I have with it is the way difficulty scaling works in the Homeworld 2 Remastered campaign. If you do really well in the first two levels, the third level becomes almost impossible. I still haven't gotten past level three, so I just play the player vs CPU mode and mess around instead.
