In this video I discuss my armored jeep project and how it's going, and I'm finally unveiling my M.A.V.S (modular armored vehicle system) that utilize the vehicles pillars and seatbelts as anchor points. It also utilizes a ballistic apron to cover large areas in the vehicle, that has pockets stitched on to it that allows you to insert various tiles configurations based on the armor rating you want to achieve. full video that covers all aspects of the system will be uploaded in a few weeks. see you all very soon, take care.

With a wife and 2 (soon to be 3) kids being able to bag 2 deer and regularly collect your own eggs must REALLY help with the grocery bills. I, personally, will making a small hydroponics setup in my basement to help with fruit and vegetables.

To answer your question bro, id rather see incremental updates on your progress than a whole video at the end. I was also gonna say i like the staggered bag system you came up with because it will also make it easy to replace the broken pannels :)

Thanks, and yeah, I liked making that longer format video for the hybrid ceramic armor. I feel it will be beneficial for this build to include as much information as I possibly can.

Do both, hour long and shorts. Shorts are better for views of an individual video, but it’s hard to follow if you’re trying to watch it all and have to navigate 50+ separate videos in portrait.

Hot glue. I just had this late Friday night thought of inspiration as I'm randomly cleaning my work room, smoking to be honest lol, and I wanted to leave this to the most thorough and most trusted armor guy I could. Just like HDPE, it melts and hardens, is plastic like so to speak, is malleable, and my first thought being a ceramic fan, is the surround ceramic in it to protect it from breakage, or as a backer / catching agent behind the strike face.

Congratulations on your daughter coming into the world! As to vehicle armor, regardless of the type, when weight starts to add up, to prevent overstressing the drivetrain, you might consider a re-gear of the differential(s).

Where'd you get the uhmwhdpe uni directional fabric from?

excellent question, so I really like this supplier from Alibaba: www.alibaba.com/product-detail/160gsm-UHMWPE-Fabric_62162189559.html?spm=a2756.order-detail-ta-bn-b.0.0.24ee2fc2O1eFVL multiple individuals on my discord has used this companies UD UHMWPE, and have found it to be very consistent and reliable (myself included) the companies name is : Jinhu Jeely Sport Products Co., Ltd. All the UHMWPE in this upcoming build will have been purchased from this company. Hope that helps!

I'm excited for the recent identification of pGEL (Talin proteins arranged to form an aerogel.) Some research papers found that pGEL can absorb multiple, supersonic projectiles without the back face deformation or structural damage that ceramic/steel/HDPE armors suffer. Whats *really* cool is that the pGEL converts kinetic energy from impacts to thermal energy. The Talin pGEL actually converts a lethal kinetic force to heat energy. How neat is that? 😊

Here is a interesting chalange for you (I'm going to copy paste this comment on afew videos so you notice it)... Fiberglass balistic helmet or just a full diy balistic helmet series including back face deformation testing. My idea is a fiberglass helmet with thin steel bars impeded on the inner layers of fiberglass forming a lattice shape to prevent serious back face deformation.

Saw the announcement you made. Dropped everything and came over here as quickly as I could. Excited to see what you have in store for the vehicle armor build! Hopefully it's a good one! Maybe hoping for some cool new ballistic armor concepts that nobody else has thought of. 😌😌😌

try multiple layer glass fiber foam as kevlar type layered cloth armor, yep the heat tile material, should also resist explosions heat, might also be great tire material, flexible bouncy springy material containing air inside
@gsestream
@gsestream 3 ай бұрын
why not try carbon fiber fabric layer armor in kevlar multi-layer armor style. no binder epoxy, just the multiple fabric layer stack. also carbon fiber has much higher melting temperature (4000C) compared to plastic nylon fibers at 200C or so. much more suitable for hot places and fire protection. also do not easily burn.

Though this is an entirely hypothetical idea, could laminated, tempered glass be effective for a DIY bulletproof window? Since the way ceramic armour works is by having the ceramic tile resist the force of the bullet via compression AND by having the tile make the bullet lose a lot of energy due to crack propagation, could you not do the same with tempered glass? I imagine that by having tempered glass laminated with a strong resin between layers of a stronger plastic like polycarbonate, you should be able to make bullets not only push through the tempered glass via compression, but also force the bullets to lose energy by dissipating cracks in the glass. Due to the resin and the polycarbonate, it should be able to stick together after shattering, so the window won't just dismantle itself after the first shot. Cheers!

Hey. With the hdpe armour, have you considered using commercially available hdpe cutting boards? Seems they could be easily put between layers of fiberglass etc and save a lot of the hassle. .
