In the factory we BEND lexan polycarbonate in press brake machines to get 90 degree corners. Lexan is also the profuct used for making bullet resistant security windows.

Hey Meow, are you that guy that shared fiberglass armor on the Myanmar subreddit a few years ago then got flames by 1 guy triggered about americans not knowing the specific intricacies of life in countries half a planet away? Djde fuck that guy bro you were literally on there saving lives for free and that guy literally went apeshit over you not knowing specific random-ass shit about Myanmar. You should've hit him with the "If you don't know which specific American truck-stop has the best hotdogs then kindly recognize your hypocrisy"

Try a thin layer of plastic just fiber glass another layer of plastic fiberglass then third layer of plastic then wrap it in fiberglass and resin. That at the same thickness may stop all the rounds.

There’s very few people I could be friends with in a literal term and you I believe are one of them I also hunt and fish I am also a guy like you that builds his own stuff my family’s dream is to buy land and start a small farm chickens ducks small animals so my son can help raise them and they don’t pose an over bearing challenge for my family if I die and leave them behind my goal is to make sure I leave my family with land with our own grid as well as a constant source of food I want to help with your Jeep build seeing as how I am also modifying my family Jeep we go out into the woods a lot wheeling scouting hunting and fishing we prefer the untouched areas of life

It is amazin how a half hour video fails to show a 15 second time lapse with the construction basis. This applies to all of your videos, you do great but pls show interesting things on screen not just talkin, this feels like a blog

Are you adding a gun port for return fire because if your windows are 3 inches thick they obviously are not going down and you also can’t shoot thru your door for obvious reasons

Hi, I'm quite late to the party but I've become recently interested in DIY body armor. I noticed you pressed the PE into shape before attaching the ceramic plate on it. Based on the principle of ceramic be considerably stronger when having a backer and no space in between them, it would seem to me pressing the tile against the still-malleable PE would mold it to the shape of the back of the tile, leaving virtually no space between them, making it an ever tighter bond after you glue them together with the resin. Just a thought. Other than that, I can't really think of much of a way of improving something you already experimented so much upon. Cheers!

tightly Pack fibreglass insulation in the voids of the Cavities, in Northern Ireland the British millitary used it in C.A.V landrovers it means Composite Armoured Vehicles they are soft skinned Aluminium and stop Small arms fire at close range.

if you are trying to create a new ballistic body armor that is durable, try using contact cement to bind them together before testing!!! You will get better results!!! Guaranteed!!!

How about using a stainless steel mesh layer at the front layer to stiffen and help break up the round. Not sure how effective it would be but I've always thought about using that to make a plate, maybe multiple layers.

I own a couple of civilian armored cars, they gut the doors so they can place Kevlar and ballistic steel in them. You can roll down windows they normally use a special motor. For the radiator they use ballistic steel welded at an angle they kind of look like blinds
@2artactical55Ай бұрын
Body plates are cool, but a nice sided ballistic shield is what you want to get behind, especially when they are shooting through the walls at you.

 Thanks for ur testing BUT maybe u should do a penetration test on a human and barrier. Does u friend shooting have any idea how far the ball nose 9mm goes and he would be more of a threat than protector? I know this is a old vid and prob. wont be seen but I have to try, hopefully he knows now and doesnt still practice it.

Try 3/4" and 5/8" solid 7075 plate. Edwin Sarkissian shot a 1" plate and it blocked everything except for .50BMG, with room to spare.

Have you thought about using the same material that are used to protect iphones and stuff.. sapphire glass sheets, I think it could do a lot of damage to the projectiles even using a relatively thin layers as a front
@erikbongnilsson246Ай бұрын
Im so curious what the results would have been if all the glass had been fronted by a sheet of glass... I think that would have made a big difference.. It would be like if you were to install it in peoples homes behind their ordinary windows.

@Techthisoutmeow I wonder how a plate with layers that slanted within the plate would perform. It would certainly pose some challenges when it comes to making them, but I'd think it would do one of two things. 1, depending on velocity the round may be more likely to deflect (probably within the plate itself which would make the round need to go through more material to penetrate the cab). If this is the case you could effectively use less materials for the same stopping power. On the other hand since the round would basically be impacting the edge of the plate, it may be inherently weaker. I can see it going either way.

Hot glue. I just had this late Friday night thought of inspiration as I'm randomly cleaning my work room, smoking to be honest lol, and I wanted to leave this to the most thorough and most trusted armor guy I could. Just like HDPE, it melts and hardens, is plastic like so to speak, is malleable, and my first thought being a ceramic fan, is the surround ceramic in it to protect it from breakage, or as a backer / catching agent behind the strike face.
