My paternal Grandpa was MP in North Africa during World War 2. From route security and traffic control to investigators dismantling corrupt criminal associations, I've always been fascinated by MP and CID.

Stop with the politically correct terminology. Military Policeman is a job not a gender. If you don't want to say "Military Policeman" then say "Military Police soldier" or "MP".

Golden Point - If the person is good, has a good personality, has no criminal history, has no criminal intentions in the future, has intentions of reforming and leading a honest life, if the crime is forced by circumstances etc the punishment for the crime is light or very less or the minimum for the crime

As a former Military Police Soldier and now a civilian police officer. I didn’t learn anything beneficial as an MP for my civilian law enforcement career. MP’s do not operate the same as civilian LE. In my honest opinion the 31B MOS is kinda useless. There is no need for them in today’s modern Army. If you are watching this and have a goal to be a civilian police officer and think being an MP will help you, DO NOT! Do something else, like the Infantry, or some other job that could give you job skills outside of LE. Stay away from this MOS.

Yes and no, I’m a current MP we are getting better and more current training but we need more updated training. Also need to focus on LE like in 70s and 80s

I agree depending on jurisdiction or state it is useless. If we refocus it could very beneficial

Interesting that the North Dakota Highway Patrol only needs to put us through a 2-week lateral academy. Dodge City, KS PD gives us credit for years of service for pay as new hires. They do that only for MPs (not for any other MOS). When I was at Fort Leavenworth, KS, I was trained to use the NCIC by the Kansas City, MO PD. I was certified at the Kansas Highway Patrol academy to operate the Intoxilyzer 5000 (it was a few years ago) for DUI cases. I was certified to run radar in Kansas, and charge people, civilian and military, using Kansas statutes (K.S.A.). I retired after 20 years, and I am now an instructor (Academy Sergeant) at a criminal justice academy. I got the job at the academy after only 2 years at my current agency. Why? Because of my MP background. I can retire next summer. 20 years MP, 10 years at my current agency. I respect your opinion, but being an MP was great for me. Of the Troops.

"Do something else, like the Infantry, or some other job that could give you job skills outside of LE." Infantry is one of the most non-translatable jobs, so I don't know why you mentioned that one. But yes. quite a few military and Army jobs that have a civilian equivalent, do not translate as well to the civilian equivalent as one might think. Another example is combat medic and someone thinking it would help them land a medical career when they get out when at best it would probably help with driving ambulances.

It depends on where/when stationed. I was am MP for 9 1/2 years, including being stationed at Ft Clayton Panama in 78-80 and Ft Carson from 80-81 and in that initial enlistment responded to armed robbery, burglary, rape, made a[prehensions for serious violation of the UCMJ, the regular DUI arrests, arrests for larceny , drug possession and our company was even deployed to guard the Cubans who were part of the Mariel boatlift. After that initial enlistment I went to college went through ROTC and return to active duty as a commissioned officer. When I was with the 534th "STRAF" MP company in Panama we were always on alert as Nicaragua was and other countries down there were just getting hot, but because of the Vietnam experience, the president at the time never deployed us, but we were trained to deploy. (Although Reagan seemed to get around that :) . T The main difference between civilian police are the cops who deal with the worst dregs of society in some urban decay poverty area where the cops are treated like the enemy. MP's mainly deal with other soldier's so the risk isn't the same except for those deployed in a combat area. So when I have apprehended a soldier no matter what they did in the back of my mind I always think that we are on the same team. I think MP's will try to deescalate the situation more than a civilian cop who has nothing in common with the populous where they are patrolling. But not all civilian cops have to work in those areas, I live deep in the burbs now where there is really no crime, so the cops out here tend to be a bit bored, but they are nice, will sit down and have a conversation with you smile, say ki ...........but 30 miles away is an urban area and those cops have to always be on guard.

Golden Point - Punishment for the crime depends on the following criteria ie 1) Actual Crime. 2) Profit in the Crime. 3) Forced Crime. 4) Unforced Crime. 5) Criminal History of the Criminal. 6) Future Intentions of the Criminal. 7) Threat to Society. 8 ) Reformation Intentions etc

Just restructuring and downsizing. They are implementing more civilians in the MP corps. The same has happened before during peacetime, they're splitting us up into field MP's and LE MP's. They want to get rid of like 1500 positions hence why they're having those in their re-enlistment window either reclass, get out or beg hrc to stay as an MP

Golden Point - People who dont confess but instead try to hide the details of the crime get the maximum punishment for the crime because they are not repentant and dont intend to pay for the crime which means that they will repeat the crime and try to escape repeatedly and so they are a even bigger risk to society and so they get the maximum sentence or punishment
