When Steve left I was crushed and for several years could not accept his replacement. Now, I'm older (too old some days) and, hopefully wiser, and I've come to enjoy Arnel and the unique contribution he makes to us, the fans of Journey. I have come to know the Filipino people as a loving, gentle segment of mankind.....Efren Reyes, the absolute master of 9-ball, Manny Pacquiao, the greatest boxer of all time, and now Arnel Pineda. When all was said and done, I think Arnel's first love is singing for the sake of singing because she loves it so much. Because if he didn't love it he'll just stop and just say to hell with it all. He's been waiting for almost 20 years to get a break here in Phil to no avail. Journey saved him after he saved himself from booze and drugs. Singing to bring fortune and fame is just an afterthought and he is thankful to God for that and thankful too that fame and fortune came when he was able to get himself from the dumps.

I'm a die-hard Journey fan and like a first love, once it's over you never forget it. No , he's no Steve Perry but that's OK with me in that it's the closest they could have found. -and Arnel looks to be a good man and humanitarian. Steve Perry couldn't keep going at such a high level of vocal performance and he still sings great for 62 which I find hard to believe. We all get to relive the memories and enjoy new Journey music. Arnel is completely amazing -- and he's the one who brought me to Journey. Although I lived through the Steve Perry years, Journey was a band among many and I didn't follow them, but somehow Steve's voice was recognizable enough that when I heard the DJ on the radio say that a song he'd just played was the new lead vocalist for Journey. It was stunning to hear someone whose voice was so similar. When I saw Arnel's photo, I was even more amazed. Such a beautiful face and I thought he was in his teens or early 20s -- LOL -- the stunned later to find out he was close to 50 (now over 50) when I attended my first Journey concert in 2017. It was disappointing to see so many negative comments on KZfaq posts and people predicting Arnel's demise any moment, but he's prevailed with his amazing talent and great humility and heart. Just saw Journey last weekend and the concert was awesome and energetic. We fans are truly lucky to still get to see this group perform and know that they've had such amazing vocalists -- legend and legacy.Looking forward to next time and wishing Arnel and all the members of Journey many more years together. Don't stop believin'!!

i just wish everyone should just enjoy the present band.FYI: AP never ever claimed to be STEVE PERRY. in fact, AP was a fan of Steve Perry that why he was singing Journey's songs when he was discovered on KZfaq. He could do all other top singer's songs and do justice to theIr songs, and come out clean.....that is how good AP is as a singer. For all we know, Journey Band will be retiring pretty soon and all that they will remember is that, They had a second life with AP and probably will say to each other...for all that's worth, THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND THAT THEY HAD A GOOD LIFE. Arnel Pineda is from the Philippines , the land of great singers..Everybody here in the Philippines sings in any occassion...get together...gatherings..In the book of Og Mandino it says there" If I feel sad , I will sing "...That 's why if you are depressed then listen to the music...Lately Philippines is considered as the happiest country in the world..We do not feel sad and lonely..We always sing or listen to the music then our loneliness or sadness will be gone..We have no time to worry even with all these calamities and adversities, Filipinos.can still afford to smile and laugh...Arnel Pineda is just one of the Filipinos who has so much courage to rise above problems and difficulties..He kept believing that everything will be alright with God's help.....

2022, he's still with Journey and they are doing great! They are a perfect match. Arnel's truly amazing since i first heard him perform in our school with the AMO band in the late 80's.

Journey and Arnel got the best bargain out of each other. Arnel got the voice, relative youth, energy and stage presence they are looking for but not a clone of Steve Perry. And they, Journey, has one of the best instrumentalists, and perfect backing voice to complement Arnel. Bravo Journey!!!! may your legacy of quality music last for young people to emulate
