I loved my Dad very much because he stuck around, accepted me, gave me praise on rare occasion, other times discipline via an angry frightening look on his face combined with one or two swift kicks to the fanny with the side of his foot. It caused no pain, but made me pee in my pants every time. My Dad never cheated on my Mom and somehow came to love me like I was his own son. He was my hero. I still cry sometimes when I think of him.

@@harleyloves3572 I met my biological father twice when I was a boy, but we didn't speak to each other. I was with my mother both times and was very quiet, so was he. My mother did all the talking. I met him later again when I was in my mid-20's, spent a couple of hours hanging-out where he worked, but again we hardly spoke. I didn't feel comfortable. I basically just walked around his garage looking at this or that while he worked on a car. I didn't ask any personal questions, never did he. We were both pretty quiet. He was also married, had his own family and a house in the town where he worked. I never knocked on his door to say "hi" and he never knocked on mine. He used to give money, however, to my mother once in a while? I never saw the money, but she told me his money bought my school clothes every year and occasional gifts. This went on till I was around 14. I never did say "thank you" to the guy, but was glad he cared-enough to give money on occasion. I always had nice school clothes and a great bicycle for Christmas one year! My mother would proudly tell me whenever something she gave me came from him. I'd cringe, but whatever. Regarding healing - healing for me is a life-long process and my issues have always been low self-esteem and neediness. Thank you for the kind words, but I have to call it quits now.
