Arran, lovely as always. It looms large in my and my wife's family - she used to come regularly as a cild with her grandparents, we were married there and continue visiting every year with our own kids. It has now become the place where we and the wider family all come together. Just a wonderful place.

Absolutely love the production quality of your videos-- the images, the music, the cutting. Thanks! p.s. "good dog" (to your dog).

Your video brought back great memories of our trip to the Isle of Arran in 2016. My wife Sallie and I spent 10 glorious days on Arran. It was such an enchanting and beautiful place. Thanks for sharing your journey. Cheers.

A few years ago, as part of a complete round of corbetts, I did a route covering all four of the high peaks from Glen Rosa - an 11-hour day in warm conditions (maybe the horseshoe you mentioned) - I'd definitely consider it a tougher day than the Rum Cuillin (which was a still-tough 9.5hr day). These days, I have far less appetite for such big days with that much ascent, so it's great to see hiking routes like these covered in so much detail. Keep up the good work!

That’s the one - I looked back at my notes and there was some scrambling at one point with a low path to avoid it. Tough day!

Lochranza A-level Field Studies Centre still brings back memories. Got stuck on the island due to weather.

Very interesting and as always great production. Maggie is a real trooper and the star of the show 😉 Hope your Iceland preparations are going well and that you’re going to film the trip.

Thanks again for sharing your inspiring adventures. I was last around Arran 2 weeks ago, on a yacht, with my students and the Tall Ships Youth Trust but we didn't land. I think before that about 30 years ago as part of a cycle tour from Newcastle-upon-Tyne where I was a student. I bivied on the way and climbed Cir Mor. Happy days! I'm going to have to go back...

I remember visiting Arran on a school 6th form geography field trip in 1978. We drove up from the Wirral by coach. What a glorious place it was, and obviously still is! I remember buying Arran Cheese for a family gift.

Ah yes, the campsite at Lochranza where I came face to face with a very large stag when taking Ro & Poppy out for a last night ‘walk’. I thought you were about to say the next walk was to the distillery!

Greetings Simon! Would love to know more about your hiking kit! I’m getting back into it after a few years off and will probably need a fresh set of hiking shoes. I’m thinking something light like trail runners. Curious about your kit and what you carry for day hikes and multi-day hikes! Cheers from very hot California!

Hi - we hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2002 (and recently turned audio recordings made at the time into a podcast podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/simon-willis2/episodes/1--So-California-e2cd0ks) The kit we used in California, Oregon and Washington on a thru-hike was different to what we use here in the UK. On the PCT we were always on a made trail so hiked in running shoes - Merrell's in 2002 but now I'd choose Inov-8. In Scotland we're frequently hiking over rough, unmarked ground that's frequently very boggy so we go with Goretex boots - I don't a have favourite brand but Inov-8 again seems good. Camping kit is different too - I still have my Tarptent but here I need a double skin tent with space and great bug netting with space to sit out bad weather. So many differences!

Hi Good video, do you use 50 or 65 litre rucksacks?

This is a 65l. Too big for day hikes like this but getting used to them for a backpacking trip to Iceland
