How does vaseline work and is vaseline safe for face?
Vaseline works as an occlusive agent. This means that, for the most part, it doesn’t actually add moisture to your face. It Seals the existing moisture into your skin that you already have and It also protects skin that’s been injured or irritated by forming a seal or barrier wherever you apply it.
Is vaseline a good moisturizer?
Now with the vaseline barrier on the skin: its going to effectively reduce how much moisture is lost from the skin. So it traps moisture instead of giving you moisture. If that makes sense.
What should I use vaseline for?
1.) Chapped lips: as it can protect them from the hot sun or a cold wind.
2.) If you have a cut: as it can help keep bacteria from entering the wound.
3.) If your'e trying to groom or style your eyebrows. As a thin layer of it can help keep them in shape.
4.) You might be using a layer of Vaseline applied before bed to wake up with more soft and moistured skin.
Vaseline for rosacea on face and vaseline for psoriasis
Now: dermatologists suggest that occlusives like petroleum jelly are safe and even beneficial for people who have rosacea. This is because The “occlusive” property of Vaseline protects skin that is red and inflamed and may help it to heal. But what about for psoriasis. This is best used as a proactive measure because, it can seal moisture without irritating your skin.
Vaseline anti aging
The one conjecture I could make is: by making sure your skin retains moisture all the time, theoretically this can be an essential preventative measure to slow aging signs on your face like fine lines and wrinkles.
Vaseline for all skin type
Vaseline for oily skin.
Adding oil to oil may not give you the balancing results you're after. Since the greasy feeling of Vaseline might make your skin appear more oily especially if you have combination oily or extremely oily skin.
Vaseline for dry skin
Vaseline can help with the discomfort since it has moisture-locking properties. Plus, it’s safe to use even on sensitive areas, like the skin around your eyes and lips. Vaseline prevents more than 98% of water loss from the outer layer of the skin. So essentially it helps prevent trans epidermal water loss.
Vaseline for sensitive skin and is vaseline non comedogenic
Vaseline shouldnt irritate the skin because remember, the molecules in vaseline are too large to slide into pores, which is why Vaseline just sits on the skin and doesn't really 'absorb'
Can you use vaseline for sunburn
Avoid putting vaseline on your face or any other sun burnt area. The oils in vaseline can actually trap in heat and further any sun damage to the skin, making it worse. You should only apply Vaseline to burns that are already healing. Which is why aloe vera is a better option in my opinion for burns.
Can you use vaseline for acne and is vaseline good for face
The AAD recommends avoiding it if you have acne prone skin as vaseline may lead to more breakouts if youre already having issues with acne.

I use a small amount of Vaseline at night after I've cleansed my face. Been doing it since I was 15. I'm 31 now and get tons of compliments on my glowing, youthful skin. It's my holy grail for real.

Hello from Greece. I have been using Vaseline since I was 35 and now in my 40s haven't got a single fine line neither on my forehead nor the eyes or chin . Sometimes I might forget but five out of seven nights a week I put on my face after I wash it, usually on wet skin. I also put on my chest and neck. Haven't had any skin problems or irritation and I am really glad. No one ever thinks that I am over 30 and many people think I am even less !!! ❤️

For best results wet towel or rag with hot water press gently against face whilst cleaning poors then apply vaseline afterwards , and also if your a male instead of use'n shaving cream use dove soap instead either alloe or cucumber it reduces the chances for less razor bumps because the blade glides on surface of face much smoother , just make sure to make a thick lather with soap

I use Vaseline under my eyes every night at the end of my skincare routine and last night I forgot to put it on and I woke up with crusty eyes (and this was with a moisturizer and eye cream) so it definitely seals in that moisture at night!

DO you know that vaseline is the WAISTE PRODUCT OF GASOLINE yep after they make gas the remainder of the stuff falls to bottom and it is the vasoline that is why they call it VAS-OLINE its the leftover gunk from GASOLINE!!!!!!! and Iused to use this to wipe off my eye makeup I now have glaucoma but back then I did not know this is what vasoline was its all the waiste from the gasoline..go take a big sniff of it you will get a hint of the gas smell barely but its there..google it if you dont believe me..I learned this in chemistry class in college for nursing

As a teen I used to have many acne breakouts. But now as a young adult, I only get an occasional pimple about every 3-6 months. I use Vaseline on my face every morning for the past year. I LOVE the results! And it never gives me any breakouts.

I would not recommend using petroleum based products in the morning because it’ll block the ability of any sunscreen to get absorbed if you wish use it after sunscreen

Well I have a tendens to acne and my skin is oily. Tried using castor oil and of course it was a disaster😂! A lot of blemishes, acnes all around my face and I am almost 47 years old. The good thing is that I don't have rinkles, don't look my age. But I wish my hair and face was at last normal.

I have acne prone skin I apply vesline on my face in winters but in very minimal amount all over my face except nose because it can cause black heads and with that thin layer I'm using dot and key watermelon vitamin c serum every night but in winters it works well for me when I get up in the morning I saw my face glowing and with no acne that's because it heals my skin as wel as lock the serum to absorb my skin It's highly recommended for combination skin like me but not in summers 🥵or hot and humid conditions nor in winters 🥶 in huge amount don't apply it will definitely cause pimple (apply it in very minimal amount)

I struggle with dehydrated skin and TEWL.... so I actually use Aquaphor over my moisturizer several times a week! Vaseline doesn't last long enough on my skin and lips.

Is it good for the dry skin

I used Vaseline a few weeks to figure out what this slugging thing is and if it would be beneficial for me to do..I may have used to much or it could have been because it was slightly expired (didn't know before use) but I had very bad irritation from it. I have tried to look into why it would react so badly to my skin. It was burning and itchy. I had to wash it off almost immediately after use. My skin was clean I had just finished up with my nighttime skincare routine. I'm to scared to try that again. Good ole life lesson, live and learn.

dont do skincare routine sounds like the vaseline didnt mix with it. alot of skincare creams etc have alchohol in may be thats the reason. i use natural organic skincare. plus vaseline

Vaseline has been around before this guy was born ! Its an old remedy that has worked for years ! I will never stop using it on my face! Did they ever recall Vaseline ?

I use Aquaphor every night all over my face. After cosmetic surgery and lazering on my chin and around my mouth, the doctor said to use Aquaphor on the lazered area. All the work I had done has held up super well, and I credit the Aquaphor for much of that. I am 75, and people tell me all the time how good I look for my age. Of course, some things work for one person and not for others. It is trial and error to find out what works for you. Good luck in your search.
