This AI fad is perhaps the ultimate indicator of this content mania that has taken over the internet. It is unsustainable for the internet ecosystem. It's literally killing our online spaces and I am not the only one to be rebelling against it.

Best thing about this approach is if it gets more popular, there will be much less clutter on social media feeds. Who knows maybe as a society we'll all come to this point where people will just post things that are actually important to them. Although lately looking at how samey is ArtStation for example I reckon its gonna be a while yet.

Yeah, I predict that either our current online art spaces will take the liberty of banning generated images on their platforms, OR artists will come together to create their own non-AI platforms that will rise in popularity.

I've also been dipping in terms of my productivity and upload. I think we go through a stage at our life where we reflect what we want to do, what it means for us to make stuff, and whether we are making it for ourselves or for others. As human beings, it is absolutely normal to have this need to belong to a community, whether its following a trend, or finding a niche group of folks. Sometimes I feel like making stuff that feels genuinely for me, and sometimes there are times where I do want to appeal to a crowd. Atleast we are self aware of that. Good video man!

If you upload, people like me will watch it and stick around, even if it's not often. Quality is always good with you and that is what matters to us. I can totally relate even though I'm a tiny channel in comparison. Im never gonna be a full on content creator but thats okay. I love making animations and Ive learned the hard way to just do it at my own pace now instead of trying to pump out clips of stuff when I don't have time between work and everything else. There's also one thing I've always been firm on from the start which is to only make animations about things I enjoy personally. Then if other people like it that's bonus and I'm thankful for whatever views I get. I could make a Star Wars animation because it's popular and would get me views and subscribers but I dont because I don't really care about Star Wars. I'd never be able to put the care and attention to detail into it that I can into a Tomb Raider one; something that I know inside out and have loved for years. Just doing what I'm doing now, I have a small following that's super lovely and supportive when I upload and I'm happy to have that ❤

Thanks for sharing this thought process. It is really important to know why we choose to do something. Especially a creative pursuit. Animation is all consuming, when you put a craft into it. As you said, if you are doing it just for views, then you will have different approach to creating what you make. If you are doing it for the passion of breathing life into the characters and the stories, you will approach it in a different way. Life isn't always about the money, views, popularity. As long as you be honest to knowing your why, and to who you are, then your magic will happen.

Great to see a new vid from you! Always hearing your thoughts on these topics. The sweet spot is to bridge gap between art and commerce, content and authentic expression. The two can be combined. But sometimes you can't bridge that gap, and that's ok. Finding a balance between personal art and client work is key. Freelancing can put food on the table, but personal art feeds the soul. My goal this year is to find that balance.

I actually related to this on a deep level. I've currently been working on this animation project for about 2 to 3 years, and while I would love to pump out episode after episode of an animation that people might watch, I have to feel fulfilled in knowing I'm giving it the due diligence and time and care it deserves. The team that's helped me with this deserves no less and I would love to live this dream one day but for now I'm just taking the time to perfect it and hone my skills so the animation can be at least as close as I envisioned it when I first began this project. Much love Howard and glad to see you're doing good and having similar thoughts to me and other animators as we navigate the way we want to accomplish our goals and dreams ❤

2:21 I couldn't answer on the server that time but I want to say that the biggest trouble is 'AI'. I recently read a post saying, "AI was good to do my laundry and cleaning and I'd continue my Art and Writing but AI is doing Art and Writing and I..." This is true. I am worried for our employment in the future. And the AI companies just go on and on making more efficient, more powerful AI versions.

For a decade KZfaq has been at the back of my mind, coming up with ideas, making thumbnails; but I could never bring myself to edit one because I don't have a drive to do KZfaq: *I want to Direct films.* Deep down movies have always been my favorite art form. So I'm also preparing to make a series of short films leading to my first feature.

I'm planning new animations, shorter ones because that's the mood now, at least I'll try to do most the ones that I'm in mood about. But yeah like everyone else we take our own time to finish. Art. You can never put content over art. Art is culture. Art is history, literature, music, cooking and agriculture. No platform shall replace all that our ancestors created for thousands of years. We need to form allies if we are going to keep art alive. And AI is one of the many allies we may need to get people safely into a new reformed society in North America. It will make even Russia and China cry for a utopia that has given universal healthcare to all that is willing to come our nation and keep art alive.
