Artisan EV2000R Electric Moped - Honest Ride & Review

An honest review about the Artisan EV2000R electric Vespa style moped. After over two months of using the bike for my commute, these are the things you don't seem to hear in any of the other reviews.
This review is filmed whilst riding around parts of Bristol using a helmet-mounted GoPro and a Sena helmet mic.
Having recently moved to a more centrally located office, it felt like the perfect time to switch out my trusty Peugeot Django 50cc for an electric equivalent. Virtually silent travel with batteries I can recharge at work, at home from solar energy or even on the mains feels like a win for me.
With my current kWh rate of 33.85p, this costs me 13.5p to get to the office and back (it would be about 50-55p on a petrol bike).
The main problem here is the bike (kind of a problem, as the bike is what I'm reviewing!). The Artisan EV2000R is a £3,000 bike with the build quality of a kid's toy. EV bike offerings have obviously not matured as quickly as cars. This bike is great to ride, but it's let down by so many things.

I really hope there will be something decently built in that class on offer some time soon. Places such as Brizzle and Brighton here really need that.

I guess there is but it’s much much more money. A true Vespa Elettrica will set you back £6,000+ but I bet the build quality is lovely. Still, as I say, you can get better in this class I think.

Hello. Have you had a chance to try this on the countryside? I am thinking dirt/gravel road or asphalt roads in really bad conditions? Good review honest and informative. Greetings Alfons

I wouldn't bother. The ride is extremely hard. The roads in Bristol are in terrible condition with potholes everywhere. It's an uncomfortable ride at times. When you get a new / smooth bit of road, it's a complete delight to ride but I wouldn't want to do any kind of rough track or minor road.

Is your scooter the version with uprated suspension, better bearings and upgrade batteries? there is also one with a sidecar, the new one is meant to do up to 50 mph and have a range of 55/60 miles. i did have the petrol version, that had a few faults but they got fixed.the uprated one is called aventura x

I just bought the 50mph one (here in the States) from Aventura-X. My charge port wasn’t working from day one (I could still charge the batteries directly) and I opened up the panel and the wire was just dangling inside, connected to nothing. Aventura-X seems to have the same customer service here as Green Scooters has there; just importers buying these bikes from China and slapping their sticker on them.

Cheap manufacturing, tons of other brands that use the same exact model. -basically the drop shipper of mopeds

Shame that so much junk can be bought but I guess it will continue while idiots like me buy it. To be fair, it does what I need it to do just fine but I also doubt that repair will be much of an option!

Im french and actually bought a second hand version of this one you have (called 2Twenty here) for around 950pounds with 1battery. I wuldnt have paid more, But still have some fun with it. Plastics are horribly cheap, but with some lil work, its easy to fix everything and make all the plastics not sound like broken toy. Someone around me bought recently an Horwin SK1 for some price as this one and it's million miles from this one in term of comfort ride and quality ! Thank you for this review ! @@tdcattech

Surely you must know this is NOT a Moped right? lol It's actually cheaper to just convert a real Vespa or Lambretta to electric and way more power and better quality than these Chinese jobs. Sadly they are very weak and extremely bad fitment etc. My 64 GT200 does 0-100 kph in 1.2 seconds, top speed of 175 kph, 72 volt, 10kw motor in hub wheel. And seriously mate, you can wait until pedestrians fully cross the road I mean seriously.
