While climbing Ajax Peak on the continental divide (Idaho border) west of Jackson, the snow beneath Hank Williams Jr collapsed and he fell almost 500 feet onto rocks, causing multiple severe skull and facial fractures. He spent two years recovering, re-learning how to talk and sing, and undergoing 17 surgeries to repair his skull and reconstruct his face.

When our son was 9 going on 10, I taught him to do his own laundry and make simple meals. It was surprising that some folks criticized me for having him help out in this way. My son was grateful he could be responsible for himself. Skills are an asset.

Nothing wrong with teaching a child life skills when they are young. My daughter was taught at a young age as well. She's told me many times in the past 15 years about how grateful she was because it taught her how to be independent. She also plans to start her own children out the same way.

@@joshhencik1849 There's plenty of jobs out there but a person has to put some effort into looking for one. When my daughter moved cross country from Arkansas to South Cali which was 15 years ago, she applied for 200 jobs. She was in college full time and needed an employer who could work with her school schedule, and she found one. Wasn't the greatest job in the world but it was full time, and it paid the bills. When school was out during the summer, she worked two jobs.

Hank Jr.'s dad was the father of country music dating back to the 1940s and 1950s and the genre's first superstar. His songs have been covered by countless artists for seven decades. "Your Cheatin' Heart", "Hey, Good Lookin'", and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" are just a few.

This song speaks the truth. I was born about 20 miles outside of Nashville, Tennessee and lived there for the first 15 years of my life. My parents then moved further away from Nashville out in the country. No one could pay me enough to move back to the city! I'm perfectly content out here in rural Tennessee and I have zero interest in ever returning to a 'city life.' Hank Williams Jr. really paints the picture of country life with this song. Thank you Phil and Sam for reacting to this! One of the things I love most about your channel, outside of your charming personalities of course, is the variety of music that you two have on the channel!!

Hank Sr is qn ICON country legend... A pioneer who paved the traditional sound of country (He did NOT create it, just perfected it)... His influence can NOT be underestimated... Very few artists of any genre can resonate an emotion like Sr could... An example of that would be "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"... Jr was forced onto the stage by his mother to capitalize on his late father's name... His father died when Jr was very young... Jr grew to resent not being allowed to be himself, as everyone wanted him to be a mirror image of his father... He eventually broke free and started doing his own thing, but still returned to his roots once in a while...He explains that himself in his song, "Family Tradition"... Jr was involved in an accident where his face was crushed in a fall during a mountain hiking accident, and his resemblance to his father was not quite so prevalent after that... I suggest the song "There's a Tear in My Beer", which was a Sr song, remade by Jr, with actual footage of his father singing it too... Do the official video if possible... There is also Hank III and Hank IV...

Hank Williams jr is a legend around here. His nickname is Bocephus. His life hasn't been easy but he's managed to thrive. That song you just listen to is a true story. You should listen to some of his other stuff. He has a powerful voice. And he sings about truth. Can't say nothing bad about Bocephus. He should have died that day when he fell off that cliff. But the Lord saved him. So he is still doing what the good Lord put him on this Earth to do. Bless our ears with beautiful and true music. Great show.

Both Hanks are legends in country music. Hank Sr career lasted 3 yrs before his death at age 20. The songs and hiss impact are still strong today. Hank Jr's Mother wanted Sr's music to stay alive and put Jr on stage at age 8 to be his Daddy. Once Jr got out on his own he was one of the original outlaw country artist. After the mountain climbing accident where he fell 500 feet down the mountain side he went on to have 9 albums on the Billboard charts at the same time. 20 years or so as the opening for Monday Night Football. Check out tear in my beer, both are in the video. How that came about is a story in itself. Great reaction, you guys are doing great.

Jr.'s song Family Tradition is a great insight into his life. As far as that family lineage goes Hank III (Hank Jr.'s son) is both as close as and as far away as you can get from the family legacy. i.e. he'll usually play two sets. First is the traditional country songs his grandfather sang, second set is pure hard core thrash punk rock.

Im so glad you've finally reacted to a Hank Williams Jr song. He and his father are legends in Country music and I hope you check out more of both their music. Im a southern belle from Alabama and Hank Williams Jr is a friend of the famiky. He and my older cousin are neighbors and they enjoy going golfing together. Hank is a sweet down to earth country boy. And I love it when people react to more country music when they are not use to it and the multiple genres within country music and it gives them a glimpse of us bonfide southern born and southern bred people who live down here in what we call Gods country. We are very friendly folks down here and form tight knitted communities. And some of us never leave. We were born here, and here is where we settled our roots and wish to be buried in southern ground. As far as the confederate flags go. Yes there is several sons and daughters of the Confederate. And some like to peserve the memory of the Civil War and the stories passed down from many generations. And that doesn't mean we think black slavery was right. Im well aware that there was also black slavers. And if you take a look and see it was thwir own people who sold them into slavery. No matter who was at fault for starting it, and no matter who whites and blacks owned slaves, slavery is wrong. And I think its importnat to remember our history and leaen from our ancestors mistakes. That being said, you dont really see alot of rebel flags being hung up. But if you do, I guess its importsnt to first talk to that person and see where they are coming from. Cause Ive known some people who had ancestors who faught in the cival war and that doesn't mean they hate blacks or support slavery. But make no mistake, the north did some pretty shady things to try to starve us out and keep us cut off from a supply of food. Which is why I like that Hank Williams mentioned the line in his song about "You cant starve us out, and you cant make us run. Cause were them ol boys raised on shotguns." They burned down our homes and raped our women and tried staving us out. Trust me, the north and the south were neither fully innocent. And keep in mind that some soliders who fought ik the Civil War didn’t even want too. They were forced too. I think itd important to remember these stories that has been passed down to us by families who had relatives who fpught in the civial war. They speak of the injustice of slavery, and the crimes committed by both the north and the south. But I have to say, out of everything I know about true stories from those families and even my own ancestors, I think Im disappointed that it wver came down to a war. And Im disappointed still and upset that the yankees tried to get others support to cut off any shipment of tood coming to us and tried to starve us out. But say what you will about some of our ancestors. They suffered alot in the war and some starved. And dont even get me started on the kids that starved during that war and died. Like I said, I try to see both sides of the war and understand what all they went through. And Im sad for all of them from the north and south that was involved. And I think its important to be able to remember the past and learn from it. But no state or country is perfect without any sins. Slavery has happened before. I think of the Israelites and how God deleivered them from slavery. Back then, Im sure the kids thought it was a normal and common thing. A way of life. Perhaps the same can be said for some kids back in the Civial War. But Id like to think that alot of them woke up and realized how wrong slavery was. Im so sorry that ever happened. I would never wish such a life on a person. The thought of a person as being bought and owned by snpthwr and used as a mule for hard labor sickens me. But I know that if you dog deeper, these types of crimes in history has happened before and its just as tragic. But Im thankful that in due time they got their freedom. I wish them to have the same opportunities. And I hope that people up north dont think that evwryome in the south hates blacks and wishes them to not have the same opportunities as us because thats not true. Of course, there is racism out in the world. But that doesn't stand for us all as a whole. We remember the past and the the mistakes of both the north and the south. And I wish things could of been handled butter. But we are all Gods children. He doesn't care about our skin color. He is more focused on the matters of the heart and if someone is 100% faithfully committed too him. And here in the south, alot of us love God and our fsmily and communities and are there to offer a helping hand to our neighbors. Many of my friends from the north who has come visisted and stayed with my family and I for a long visist fall inlove with the south and its friendly people. I just wish people would stop having brittle ears and stop being so easily offended in every thing. Yes we all have a past, as do our ancerstors. And none of us our saints. Weve made mistakes, and so has our ancestors. Rather than passing down all that hate, why not show some love to one another instead. I love my black brothers and sisters as well as my British brothers and sisters and so on. Im not ignoring our past. Im only hoping to learn from it and try to be good person who offers friendship to everyone no matter where they come from or the color of their skin. Sorry my message is so long. I just felt very passionate about this. God wants us to love one anothwr and forgive our enemies before we seek forgiveness from Him for our own sins. That is why I try so hard to be slow to anger, quick to forgive and hard to offend. By doing this Im a happier person. Righteous anger is not a sin. Even Jesus got angry with the money changers. But holding onto strife and lwtting the sun go down on yoir anger only succeeds in poisoning your heart and soul. It makes you bitter, unforgive and resentful. And your only hueting yourself most by doing this. You also cause strife between you and God by doing this. I learned long ago to forgive my ex stepfather who abused me in secret and tried to end both mine and my mothers life. I forgave him not because he deserved my forgiveness. But because according to Gods Word, its the right thing to do. Plus I found freedom, healing and peace of mind by letting go of strife and unforgiveness. I also put myself in my ex stepfathers place. Although he abused me in multiple terrible ways, Im no siant without sin in my life. And I need Gods forgiveness, mercy and grace just as much as my enemy needed it. So all I could do is forgive him, pray for him and move on with my life. Ive learned that daekness cannot fight away darkness, only LIGHT can do that. And hate cannot drive away hate, only LOVE can do that. Which is why one of my favorite songs is by the Black Eyed Peas, "Where is the Love".

Hank Jr. has had a great career. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but if you've watched Monday Night Football over the years he used to do the intro "Are You Ready for Some Footbaaal!?". He did that intro for many years.

Hank Jr held the Entertainer Of The Year for 10 years solid at the CMA's. Yeah, that's slightly popular in the country music world.

I went to the best concert I have ever attended in 1983. It was in my hometown of Wilmington, NC. The concert was for the North Carolina Azalea Festival, and it was at UNCW. I was able to work as student Security for the Concert. The Warmup act was a young and up and coming group called Alabama and the Main Event was Hank Williams JR. both Alabama and Hank Williams JR were inducted into the country Music Hall of Fame. Hank Williams JR is part of the Outlaw Country Genre. Please react to his song called Family tradition. It tells about his Life and he mentions his Dad.

I love Hank. You should have seen the look on the cashier's face when I bought his album "Man of Steel" and Devo "Are we not men?"... Yes a very varied musical taste.
