I miss As The World Turns. It was a great soap opera, and had such longevity of characters. Many played their roles for many years

I was born ten years after this episode, but I group up watching these characters with my grandparents and mom. I love watching these old clips.

How wonderful to see Lisa during her early vixen days. Eileen Fulton's electrifying performances made ATWT must-see TV during the 1960's and 70's.

Bruce was played by James Pritchard who would a year later play Dr Matt Powers Chief of Staff at Hope Memorial on The Doctors.

Jeff Keyes yes jeff that is the right spelling of his last name my mistake. He played Dr Matt Powers for the entire soaps run of the Doctors which is now being rerun on Retro TV currently.

When i started watching w/my mom/grandmother in the summers It was always a conversation at Nancy's table , I caught on fast and watched until the bitter end . Sadly these were replaced with garbage .

You know I often read that soap operas are too expensive to produce and that is one reason they are no longer made (along with a myriad of other reasons). I'm wondering if these classic late 50s / early 60s shows were also costly to produce by then standards (?) The story lines then were simple but well written, well paced and interestingly addictive. Seems soaps grew into these giant monsters with TONS of characters / plots / exotic staging etc. I can see how the modern soap would be costly....But what about these classics from long ago(?)

I would love to see the episode where Eileen Fulton thought they had gone to a commercial break and pulled the pillow out from under her blouse (Lisa was supposed to be pregnant)

If you put Ida Barlow from Coronation Street in The Hughes Family Home, they would think the Family was rich. UK Soap Families in the 1960's were very Blue Collar. Also, for Them Dinner would be known as "Tea" that would either be Bangers & Mash (Sausages & Mashed Potatoes), Beans On Toast, Spaghetti Bolognese. If you went for Fast Food, you at at The "Chippy" aka Fish & Chips. You would go for a Pint at The Rover's Return or play Darts, or watch "Footy" aka Soccer. If you were a Lady you'd be a Factory Worker, Cafe Waitress or Barmaid and if you were a Fellow, you'd do construction, Warehouse Work or Barman.

@@KJTV67 That's why US Soaps and UK Soaps were so different. I also feel that because Mal Young didn't know anything about US Soaps, his tenure on The Young & The Restless was a disaster. He didn't like The Music. He did very well with Eastenders and the Men are just as powerful as the Women. In The UK it was known in the early days as Kitchen Sink Drama because the bulk of the action took place in The Kitchen. Also they would solve their issues with a Cup Of Tea or someone would say Fancy A Cuppa. 😁

In our UK home - I ask what am I having for TEA - but DINNERS READY gets shouted ! ! ! Thanks for mentioning CORONATION STREET. William Roache took over from Helen as the longest running character !
