Todd is one of the biggest reasons I love early arc 7 so much. His coldness makes every chapter he’s in more interesting

Todd has got to be my favorite villain in Re:Zero. The sheer inhumanity in his humanity is so great. I love that his greatest strength is his attitude rather than some power that he has. Subaru's fear and hatred of him parallel so great with Todd's own fear and hatred of Subaru.

Great video,Todd is unlike any anime antagonist imo,he never waits and goes straight for kill,i mean we see that in other anime but they never follow through or just because become more generic, todd stays ruthless throughout and is pretty organic in general. Lmao i knew you have would have that reaction to cross-dressing chapters,Agreed we should followed through instead of backtracking,although i kinda liked the chapters just for the fun and fan-servicish nature of it,although yeah tonal shift was odd but makes total sense to give a breather for what's about to come,i think tappei added this to just give a mental breather for audience,because stuff coming next is pretty brutal

Great analysis as always, I want to talk about my personal opinion of this volume since reading people comments can really change your perspective on things First of all the build up for this chapter and especially when Subaru wants to set up a plane, at the beginning I thought that maybe tappei wanted to hurry up and finish the volume however when he added there chapters to explain how the plan is processed I doubted that, so I think that the most realistic thing is that this is "extra information" for how did Subaru came up with the plan and how will he convinced the others, in a way you can skip it and it will be absolutely fine, it just gives you the process of things and the plan itself was very easy to understand and process, if it was a complicated plan then yeah I agree, and for saying the truth there's a scene in the final stage of this arc that will get me really angry if they didn't show how it was handled, simply because it was so frustrating and important so yeah I hope that tappei comes back for his old writing style,this one just give in off vibe The Natsumi problem was something I was so fascinated with for some reasons that I couldn't understand, it was unexpected and fun but unsettling in it's own way, but knowing Subaru personality you can understand why, Subaru tends to link a sertin kind of behaviors and his thoughts to a sertin gender, man are masculine and strong, their rational and capable and a good example of that is Wilhelm who is Subaru own ideal self, while women should be cute and full of Grace with in amazing intellect and Intelligent like crusch for example, Subaru is surrounded by capable women, they literally destroyed his thoughts about how women should be fragile and cute because there's more to it and Subaru found himself fascinated and drowned to such a character Now then what does all of this have to do with Natsumi? It's easy all of this started with ep 18, I always discussed how the problem wasn't if Subaru loved rem romantically or not but about what her existence means to him, Subaru literally linked "I'm rem hero" to "I'm the man rem saved" which lead him again to his bad habit of attaching a sertin ideals to the person gender, Subaru in his mind was starting to lose points in front of rem, he was showing her a "pathetic" side of him, showing her how weak and unmanly he is, kid you not my brother is very sensitive and he cries when he feels sad or stressed,his just a child but people keep telling him "man doesn't cry you should be strong" that's when I get it, people truly connect ideals to their gender and Subaru is no different than that Being rem hero meaning he is a man, when rem saw all the pathetic sides of him he was sad because he didn't seem "manly" but his breaking point was when SPOILER : rem told him that "his not a hero" making him break completely, because she denied not just that his a man but that he is a person, making him stick to Natsumi clothes even longer. being a man is something his not good with, his good with being cute, adorable and intelligent with a sassy behavior,but not so much as being a man, this seems to be the case specially after the chapter "it's hard to be a man" were it shows very clearly how Subaru struggling not with his gender but the ideals and believe he should reach to deserve to be called so, which was very very interesting to me since you don't have in idea for how I relate to this At the end for anyone who read everything thank you for reading all of that and stay safe ☺️

Im making my way through arc 7, and Im enjoying it so far. Im almost finished with phase 3. Its not nearly as good as arc 6 to me, but it isn’t hard to read through. Todd is definitely my favorite character introduced in arc 7. He definitely has the potential to be Subaru’s most dangerous enemy in the series both from what we’ve seen and what could be in the future arcs.
