In today's video I do a reaction/review for Pokemon Journeys Episode 77 (Pokemon 2019 Episode 77) which shows us Ash vs Volkner. Ash of course being the Alola Champion takes on 8th Gym Leader of Sinnoh being Volkner or Dande! This match is a 3V3 featuring Pokemon like Pikachu, Lucario & Gengar vs Electivire, Luxray and Rotom Fan!

Pokémon Journeys: The Series is the eighth part of the anime series. It features all of the regions from the main-series games, including the Generation VIII games Pokémon Sword and Shield. This series shares its Japanese name with the original series when the anime first premiered in 1997, and is officially labeled with "2019", the year this series started in, for disambiguation. This new series focuses on the two protagonists Ash Ketchum and Goh, along with their partners Pikachu and Raboot. It also features a young girl named Koharu (Chloe), who has a Yamper, and her father, Professor Sakuragi (Cerise), who runs a laboratory in Vermilion City. It features all the regions that have appeared in the Pokémon games, from Kanto to Galar. Pokémon from each region will also appear.

Main Highlights of this episode : 1.lucario defeated fan rotom with just one attack reversal and also defeated luxray even after received so much damage. Lucario is just a beast after dragonite. 2.ash's z move 3.Cynthia, bea, raihan and bea watching ash hyperclass battle My rating is 10/10 Edit : My boi gengar deserve some development episodes like sirfetch

I’m not mad with how Gengar was treated. In my opinion it did everything it needed to, the amount of damage it did to Luxray was obviously huge for Lucario to take it out in one hit. If Luxray had have stayed in, Gengar would have absolutely beaten it. I love the use of strategy in this episode too! It shows we really are in a whole other class of battles. Can’t wait for the next one!

OMGGGG volkner is my favourite gym leader too , luxray is my second favourite pokemon epic episode ,BUT THE REANIMATED SCENES OF INFERNAPE IS KILLIN IT 🔥😭👌. Also the heavy hint of Cynthia returning is awesome she being the best champion , Waiting for the return of paul and a battle between them and ash vs Cynthia.

I have a strong feeling that Paul is outside the Top 8 and he’ll be the deciding opponent match on who enters the Master Class either Ash or Paul and it’s likely going to be Ash. I have a feeling Ash will either battle a former travel companion next and lose to them and then battle Bea after perhaps and win against her.

Bro this was An Amazing Battle On Both sides Volkner was super smart battler his plan was really good to keep up the good to keep up the pressure on Ash with the electric terrain and paralysis making ash go on the back foot which is very expected from the strongest gym leader. However this still wasn’t enough to beat Ash and Z move which looked Amazing! Lucario Also put in loads of work for this battle getting two wins for the team. Sadly Gengar didn’t get this win but hopefully he will soon you know. Then Cynthia!!! So so Amazing!!!🔥 Great Reaction my Bro!! 😁

For info, Evil Eye Rotom used is Hex which doubles in damage if opponent has any major status ailment. And Bark Out that Luxray used against gengar is Snarl. Dang it he's using Special attacking Luxray with Rising Voltage and Snarl..

The move Rotom used on Gengar to knock it out is "Hex". Hex does more damage when the opponent is affected by status conditions. By the way, great reaction man ❤️

I did some research about the move reversal and I learnt if the user's pokemon has 0-4 hp the move will hit 200power with 100 accuracy..No wonder rotom fan got one-hit-ko

This was a good episode I liked how the episode begins with Ash talking to Volkner showing him his Z ring and then it got into the action I liked how both trainer constantly switched their Pokemon in though I wish their was bit more battling and Gengar would get another win but atleast he got more action than in the Korrina battle and it was good that atleast got got move In for Damage and I liked that Lucario got a win then tied with Luxray and then the battle ended with Pikachu vs Electrvire and I liked how 10000 Volt Thunderbolt overpower Electrvire’s Motordrive and got the Win for Ash and I liked that Cynthia, Leon, Raihan and Bea were all watching the battle so they can see Ash is going to prove a challenge for them and it was nice that Grookey was very interesting in the battle I’m still hoping this will lead to Goh trading it to Ash as Grookey really should’ve been Ash’s and I rate this episode 9/10 definitely the best battle In Journeys so far.

This was definitely the best episode so far. It was just action packed. I really enjoyed the use of Ash’s z move with Pikachu once again and how Volkner acknowledged Ash moving forward as a threat. What I also loved was Goh taking a back seat and the way Grookey reacted and seemingly wanting to potentially learn how to battle and use iron tail. It was super cute. But the best part of all was seeing Bea and all the other champions watch on Ash that was just incredible. This episode is definitely a 10/10. The only disappointing part was how high ranked Ash became after winning as he is now no.64 to me his ranking just seems rushed. I just thought he would move 5 or 10 spaces up not 35. Next weeks episode looks like a dud though and I don’t like how Drizzle’s evolution has come so quick when we haven’t seen it train or battle… just seems like a filler episode to me 😔

This was indeed an Awesome Battle.:) MY thoughts on the 2 nitpicks of the Episode: (WARNING! It is lengthy) - Gengar losing again:...sigh...MY Fave Journeys Kanto Mon getting done dirty...again...C'MON! Pls. give MY Tricky Ghost Boi a break! :( ...On the other hand on watching the battle again, the factors I have to point out... One, Volkner REALLY levelled up in this Battle. I mean: Electric Terrain + Rising Voltage, Thunder Wave+Hex, AND VERY SMART SWITCHING!!! He's battling WAAAY different from last time. And Two, Gengar's Con: It has problems with opponent's that could keep up with it or even outspeed it. Visquez's Electrode, Korrina's Mienshao, and now Volkner's Rotom. I felt that MAYBE Gengar would had a better chance on knocking out Luxray if Volkner didn't switch for Rotom. Ash needs to work on Gengar BIG TIME! - 10M V Thunderbolt beats Motor Drive?: OVERpowered Motor Drive...Overcharged? "...Besides that did beat Tapu Koko who's a Electric-type Legendary...and it did give the Pikashunium-Z Crystal to Ash as well which is a unique Z-Crystal. OverPOWER...Maybe The Power of Alola? I need to look more on this theory. ALSO I suppose I should be more open & accepting such possibilities. After all...I almost forgotten that there was a VERY similar Moment in Pokemon SPECIFICALLY the manga that I accepted that despite it shouldn't happen. AND YET it was SOOO Awesome I couldn't care less about being illogical to the games :)

I absolutely love this episode, it was for sure one of Ash's best battles. Grookey reminds me so much of Ash's buizel, when it was with Dawn and had no interests, and enjoyed battling more. Grookey seems to really like battling, which is something Goh isn't interested in. Ash needs to tech Lucario, moves other then Aura Sphere moves that Ash's Lucario need to learn are Power-Up-Punch, Metal Claw, Bone Rush, Force Palm, and or Close Combat. And in regards of Ash's Gengar, it would be cool to see it learn Hypnosis, and Dream Eater, that would be a good move set for Gengar. Since Cynthia is in the Master's Eight I expect once Ash has reached the Master Clan, I'd expect those battles to be six-on-six battles. Ash has already defeated a Pokémon Champion in Iris, so him going up against Cynthia, and Lance, is freaking cool. And if you remember Cynthia said in the anime "Someday soon both Ash and Paul will be entering the Champion League, and oh how I look forward to that day." Well, Cynthia probably won't have to wait to battle Ash in the Champion League, she might have a chance to battle Ash in the Master's Eight. But overall really good episode I'd give it a 10/10. The only thing I would complain about the episode is that Ash's Gengar and Lucario, need to be taught different move sets. If Lucario were to have Bone Rush, it would have helped against Volkner's electric type Pokémon, tremendously. But overall really good episode, I can't wait for Ash and Bea to battle again, I hope when they battle it's a double Battle between Ash's Lucario and SirFetch'D versus Bea's Hawlucha and Grapploct that would be dope.

I’m pretty sure Lucario being able to shake off paralysis was due to the affection mechanic from the games(introduced in XY). So this mechanic allows Pokemon with high/max affection to do a lot of crazy things for you like surviving against a KO move with 1 HP, shaking off status effects, landing more crits and such. Also, since Sword and Shield affection also called friendship is now coupled with happiness mechanic. Either way you know Lucario is gonna have high friendship & happiness, if pikachu of all pokemon got jealous of him for getting all the love & attention from Ash.

Anyone else think that the reason Gengar isn't winning is because of it's op moveset and it's ability to be intangible? It literally has the move Psychic which is like the most op move in the anime right now (other than against dark type pokemon). It can stop attacks, stop pokemon from moving, move objects without touching, etc. Also the ability to be intangible means it can outright avoid attacks without moving. Maybe because it's so op in the anime they're waiting for major battles to show it off how op it is. Also I think it's going to be a Gigantamax pokemon giving it more power. Maybe they'll have an arc to give it more battle experience so it'll be wrecking people's teams.

Maaaaan that’s one hellofanepisode!!!! Unfortunately, Gengar didn’t get much development but at least it wasn’t a shut out... he did put in work on Luxray lol!! Also, Lucario with the double KO man. That was SWEET!!! Vulcner thought Electivire was going to eat 10M volts. Like nah man hahaha. You think the writers screwed up when having Ash feel Pikachu’s pain? I’m hoping that happens with Lucario but we’ll see man. Lucario shook off that paralysis like it was nothing bwahahaha!! I’m so happy for such a great battle!!! Who said that a trainer can’t use Z move out of Alola. That just a misconception mistakenly developed by games. Cuz’ in galar region they have Gigantamax and Dynamax which already take so much animation that’s why they didn’t add Z-move feature in game cuz’ Z moves also took so much animation that game size would have extend and we might have to face many other problems as well. Anime and game concept is completely shown different from the start by the PokeFranchise. That rule only apply for Gigantamax and Dynamax, it is because a pokemon only Dynamax when that band and pokemon have some sort of reaction with Galar particles, clearly shown in Sword and Shield episodes.

Ok I'm predicting journeys and it's future I think after reaching masters 8 , there would be a final showdown upon them and ash will lose it so Leon will help ash to regain his confidence and will introduce him to galar gym challenge where he can participate and gradually can challenge Leon for the rematch. Since ash is only using electrium z then my prediction of one legendary/mythical pokemon that ash will catch in masterball so much hinted at lot of mech. is most likely zearora. So in some battle ash with pikach 10 million volt. With zearora gigavolt havoc. My boi ash will kick ass of both cynthia and leon. Not to forget in time travel episode of sun and moon both pikachu and zearora form a bond and use double gigavolt havoc to defeat guzzlord.

He does have a richu, they just didn’t show it here. Part of why ash was able to get volkner out of his slump in DP was seeing ash and pikachu reminded him of when he was a kid battling alongside his own pikachu, which is now a richu.
