what made it a better experience?

Weird! I tried using Windower but kept getting HORRIBLE slowdown on my rig, to the point where just running around in San d'Oria would cause the FPS to dip from 60 down to the low 40s. I just installed Ashita and everything runs flawlessly. Oh well!

Sorry this is really late but did you end up ever figuring this out? I've been trying to figure it out all day. I see the overlays but nothing happens when I enable them.

I’m using my own custom font. I’ve made several but never released them - I may add it on NexusMods soon!

The Settings file is generated after you first launch XIpivot for the first time in game. Either via //LUA L XIPIVOT for Windower or /LOAD XIPIVOT in Ashita.

I am having the same exact problem.

You have to directly copy it into the FFXI folder, not the XIPivot folder. Fonts load before so it has to replace the original. I have it working fine now

Hey Brandon - Have you unzipped the files into that location, or have you moved the downloaded .rar file there instead? If you unzip the contents of the install there, that should work - If all else fails, I have a discord that you can join via the information above :)

I wouldn’t recommend running other texture packs with this one. It’s more of a pick and choose option really.

This HD pack is for everything - People have asked for a split to be made available - It's a lot of work but when I get a day or two free I'll do my best to split them, but can't promise anything soon I'm afraid!

@@Ashenbubs That is totally okay - This is an amazing passion project and you haven't asked for anything to do this. I can not expect you to burn yourself out trying to hash all of that out. Thank you so much for your diligence and your hard work, it really breathes new life into the game from the footage I've seen.

Yes and no. This pack is 100% all textures whereas that one is far far less. It won’t conflict, there’s just not much point in using both.

go to your file explorer-->find your addon folder for windower--->xivbar folder--->data---->right click edit the "settings" with notepad and change the x/y parameters from 0 depending on your resolution. might have to do it a few times to find the sweet spot.

Are the folders located in the same file path as the one show in the XIPivot UI? Did you unzip the contents of the files on NexusMods or just put the whole rar file in there? (Someone had this issue yesterday)

@@Ashenbubs Mine shows up in active overlays, but doesn't look any different. I'm on ashita and when I type /pivot status it shows up as available, but after I press the + to make it active nothing changes.

Gonna add this here for those that need. For ashita u need to download the xipivot 3.1 and replace the current xipivot.dll with the 3.1 one. After that you need to create the DATs folder under ashita pluggins and add the ashenbubs folder to it but you also need to add another copy in the pluggins folder, so it will be in 2 places. I also added a " /load xipivot " line in the pluggins section of the default.txt file for ashita. After that typing /pivot status ingame will bring up the menu and actually apply it. Then zone to different area. Hope this helps. Now if someone can direct me on how to make xivhotbar stuff work for ashita, that be great mmmkay.

There's currently an issue with the latest release of XIpivot, the developer is aware - Until then, I'd recommend using 0.3.1 - Found here: github.com/Shirk/XIPivot/releases/tag/v0.3.1 After clicking the + button for the overlay, you'll need to zone or change equipment for the textures to reload.

.rar is a zipped file like .zip, you’ll need to extract the contents of the folder into the DATs folder, and not the .rar file itself.

Turn mipmapping off (0), or to 1-2 at the very least.

You can, yes - You can copy the ROM folders directly over your existing ones in your install directory - But I'd recommend making a backup via copy/paste first.

There should be an example settings file with the xipivot files, and I believe another one should also be created the first time loading xipivot in game :)

That pack will crash your game unless it’s the had an update from January. FFXI added new icons to the game in that update and some other mods have not updated their files to reflect this. Hello! Few things to go through here - Remove the Beta if you're using Basic/Prime, you won't need it anymore - If you experience FPS drops, turn MipMapping off - It runs alongside DGvoodoo. The aura effect you mention is a PS2 graphic effect that never looked good on PC, it's on all avatars and any trusts which are tier II, you can turn it off via an in-game setting which is: "/localsettings blureffect off"

@@Ashenbubs thing is im uttely clueless over these things so im trying to learn as ive owned a PC in all life & it wasnt until last sept when i had my 1st pc built for me & i have some amazing friends who remote my PC to set up all the technical side of things plus they have patience to put up with constant asking of questions lol .. yes the MM is off & im not sure where the Beta is lurking ? i have installed into the Dats folders as in your video but it wont show up in game, but thats good to know that its 100% compatable as i do like both of these add on & def adds a more awesome feel to the game :D i just hate this fps drop as its really having adverse effects on my gameplay .. oh another thing i think might be an issue? is ive lost the word font style after recent updates of ffxi & i cant seem to get them back, again i think that might be another issue im having? as for in game stuffs .. shadows are off, animation frame set to 0, on screen charecters set to 0, footstep focus off plus all the other things to help maintain steady FPS rates none of it helps ah nice thats handy as i didnt know that either as they are some of my best trusts i use so its super annoying when i use them i can even pull my weapon or lock on so i often get killed from lag as mobs swarm me so lag lock in animation lockout cos of fps struggling to keep up :( edit: omg! wow second i turned off that horrible blur setting it went PING back to 59fps damn .. thanks dude thats awesome i never knew about that setting in game which makes me wonder if theres some other things that arent quite config correctly

It's visually very different - Mine focus' on keeping the aesthetic the same to the original - without replacing textures for real life materials such as wood/plants/stone/brick/etc. Mine will give a sense of familiarity. It's personal prefence though.

@@Ashenbubs Yes, I've zoned. I finally got XIpivot to show that its loaded with no errors but yet nothing has changed for me. After downloading Basic pack I wasn't prompted to extract the files. After doing that and putting the folder into the dats folder it loads but nothing has changed. Seems like XIpivot is the issue. I even downloaded your font pack and pivot wont load that also. If I override it in the rom folder for the game it works fine.

If the + doesn't do anything, it sounds like you may have not extracted the .rar file into a folder - Your folder path should look like: Windower/addons/XIpivot/data/DATs/AshenbubsHD-Basic/ROM (all 10 folders, ROM, ROM2, ROM3, ROM4, etc should be here with ROM)

You can indeed! Same steps should all apply but you'd have to be using WIndower/Ashita rather than the normal boot mod - Google FFXI Windower/Ashita for more information on that though! :)

Turn off MipMapping and supersampling in your settings.

@@Ashenbubs Cool. In Windower Super Sampling is already off. Bump Mapping is off. Mip Mapping is set to None

i only have FFXI folder with the ROM folders and others, but missing windower and data folders

k after some looking in diff zones its slight changes to the grounds / world giving it a zelda pastel look. atleast when comparing the wood planks in norg. also looks like you made certain walls downgraded with less bricks as well as made them bump out more compared to the original.
