@@raymondhall5970 Nope sports need stars. Wta lacks consistent domination which isn't healthy for popularity of sports. Do u even know atp is in profits and wta in loss. Bcoz it doesn't have proper stars who can dominate. For casual fans it's not good that any random winner wins the tournament. People watch sports for their fave n star players. Star players bring money. Atp is in golden era bcoz of big three.

Seriously, that was the most inspiring match I have even seen since 2019. Barty played marvelous tennis in the whole week and could be a real contender in AO. I though Kvitova would have given up so many times during the second set and decider but she didn't. She is a real fighter mentally and physically and that was a pure honor watching it. I don't know how far she will go in AO somehow but this is already a match for me to remember. Great tennis!!!

I gave up on Kvitova infinite times during this match given how I have seen her play before. She has characteristically lost matches like this before when she comes upon an opponent who was able to neutralize her game. And Barty's game has those ingredients. She has really fast feet, is agile, is durable and has that very consistent, almost animatronic backhand slice that troubled even Halep who is also very consistent. But surprisingly, Kvitova just kept rallying back each time she was behind and even towards the end of it against what seemed to be insurmountable odds given how manifestly she struggled physically and a stoic opponent on the other side of the net who looked like she was just starting to play, Kvitova managed to pull out a win. Incredible. Great match.
@cambed715 жыл бұрын
Yes I couldn't agree more but I didn't give up on Kvitova because she's so tough in finals and watching the match in Madrid last year against Bertens shows that even when she's got nothing left, she finds something to get through in these tight moments.

I'm really surprised with all the comments about people saying that they are concerned about Petra being ready physically for the Grand Slam. Are people forgetting that you get one day in between matches at Grand Slams. They also have tomorrow off and it's just a small flight from Sydney to Melbourne. For me, getting used to the conditions and the new court would be the main thing to worry about but after winning a title, I think the main issue is hunger. Going into a slam with lots of matches under your belt with the last one being a loss like Kerber is, is ideal as she is match tough but also hungry and focused cos she lost her last match and now she's more hungry than say Kvitova and Pliskova who both won last. But we will see. There's nothing like a loss to sting u into action
@nathanlifska25095 жыл бұрын
It’s such a tough sport, Barty who beat all top 30 opponents and 2 former grand slam champions to get to the final but no reward, Kvitova played great but it’ll be interesting to see if she can get enough rest before Aus Open, she’s versing Rybarikova and she wasn’t looking too good at the end. Great game ladies!

A hungry Kvitova is an exceptionally dangerous Kvitova. If she maintains her intensity and level of play consistently, there's not much that can stand between her and the trophy in Melbourne, or anywhere really. Her raw talent and power are wicked when on full display. Barty's court craft and athleticism should prove her to be a formidable contender as well , and showed in this match how her game can be a difficult puzzle to solve . 2019 looks to pick up where 2018 left off and should be a celebration of women's tennis with resurgent veterans and exciting new talent. How diplomatic was this shit? But for real, it should be a helluva year.
@cambed715 жыл бұрын
sounds good to me. And so glad that Petra went to the ends of the earth to win this match. After getting blown away in the first set, many other top players would have just let this title go to rest up for Melbourne. But not Petra, she doesn't just use the tournaments outside of Grand Slams to peak for the Slams, she tries to win them too and it makes the wta tour much more fun and entertaining when it's not just about the Grand Slams, where every tournament is important

@abc-qv1pe5 жыл бұрын
I guess with a men's and women's tournament as well as doubles all at the same venue they need to play in the day for scheduling reasons but yeah I get you, I would not want to be out in the Australian sun playing aswell, especially at this time of year. It will be interesting watching the Australian Open, I will be keeping my eyes peeled for players that get favourable runs with night matches. I think people were moaning about Roger Federer getting a favourable schedule last year, lol.
@cambed715 жыл бұрын
@@abc-qv1pe oh yes I could imagine the aussies, Roger Federer and Serena getting all the night matches. It's nice to see them in action but especially in the early rounds, I'd rather see a blockbuster on Rod Laver Arena than a one sided blowout that usually happens especially in the men's side when the top players come up against lower ranked players. But the organisers need to be aware that players like Kvitova are no good in the heat and should accomodate a little for her? Or at least mix it up and share the easier conditions around. I just hope it's not going to be too hot for the players cos it's exhausting enough watching them be exhausted

The better should not be expecred for now. Both players pushed each other to the limit. Physical struggle of Kvitova was visible, which led many to feel it a big opportunity for Barty who looked fitter. Not the case. She too exhausted. Seemingly momentum shifted to the favor of Barty, then she failed in materialuzing it! Uncharacteristic errors, consistency gone. Fatigue & nerve in her!! Formidable is Kvitova. Her animal instinct saves the day. Just before the 1st GS, these players have already marked their game here!! Well done, & warmest congrats to both of them!
