Stu, we really need you and your anatomical / injury-focused lessons back. I wanted to reach out for a long time / come to India, but then Covid hit and everything kind of fell apart.. It is so refreshing and extremely important to have people like you, understand the practice of Yoga but ALSO really coming from a physical therapist kind of background. It would be fabulous to get your opinion on the groin/adductor area, specifically the Gracilis, since I struggle with it myself for a long time and also have many students struggling with it and asking about it. There's not many people able to talk about it in depth, me included obviously, so I can't really help. It would be amazing to have your opinion on it, since this area is also really used in many different Yoga poses (especially when the legs are straigthened and going out like Prasarita Padottanasana, Konasana and the Variations of Supta Hasta Padangu and the Standing version, when the leg is going out..). Thanks so much for all that you do and hopefully see you at Purple valley in the not so distant future! Philip

My right hip external rotation was blocked. I went to doctor he gave me several supplements an d asked for CT scan etc, but it only got worse. This video helped me make remarkable improvement in 30 minutes. million likes for STU and KZfaq.

Finally a real explanation about hip rotators! I spent almost a year before finding this video, looking for exercises adapted to people with a quite strong hip rotators stiffness. I tried your advices, and it seems on a good way. Thanks a lot for your sharing, this video is a gem! and Namasté!

This is soooo helpful! Ever since working in an office and sitting most of the day, or even standing in one place, I feel like my hips have been stolen and replaced by a block of wood or stone! I can do these easy hip openers after work in the evening while relaxing, eating, or watching t.v....so grateful!

Thank you for making it. Finally I came across such a video and I may well make use of these exercises. I hurt my meniscus a few months ago whilst attempting hip opener poses and I thought I'll never be able to progress with them..

I'm not an Ashtanga practicioner, but I'm trying to save my body from work and age stiffness, and prevent all the bad stuff that follows. I've tried these things before, but I obviously was doing it wrong, because I ended up stopping for fear of damaging my hurtfull knees. With the details in the video however, my knees are fine! So now I can press forward. Thank you so much, you're helping more than you'll ever see.

What I've been doing recently are hip openers on the gymnastic ball. They feel very nice because the ball gives support to the leg and I can roll it around into different directions using my own body weight, resulting in different kinds of pressure on the joint and different relative positions of the bones. I can roll the hip without any muscle action in the hip itself. Which I think helps because the insufficient flexibility partly comes from nearby muscles tightening in panic - that's why bolstering also helps. Rolling around my butt on the gym ball also helps relax and stretch the lower back (kinda like cat/cow or sufi grind, but with less effort and discomfort).

Thank you for making me discover my big problem in my body! My hips have been too tight. All my life I have been noticing it but did not know what was it. Now, because of your videos, I believe I know why I have been having knees pain after different yoga practices. You are definitely a very well informative and wise yoga practitioner.

I know this is an old comment.. but I get knee pain if I'm not properly warmed up & jump right in to yoga. Some days I have to do drills if my body is cooler or taking longer to turn on(before the flow). Hope your knees feel better! :)

Great video Stu, taking care for those naturally not gifted or unable to tune into deep relaxing while stretching like myself. I found really inaccessible the hip openers even the one at 16:10 but I used a couple of blocks to elevate my hips and I can get to that relaxing point. Thanks so much.
