ASIA OVERLAND (Ep14) - Tajikistan in our Land Rover Defender

In this episode, we whiz through Uzbekistan so we can get Fleur to Dushanbe Airport in time for her flight (don't worry, this isn't the last we'll see of Uzbekistan!). We then start out on the infamous Pamir Highway, make a new friend, try our hand at cooking Osh and spend a significant amount of time under Yak (nothing new there)...

I love the way Yak and the absolute simplicity of its overland kit just starts to look more and more ‘in place’ the closer you get to the furthest corners of the earth. Great job to all of you. Wishing you many more miles up ahead in 2023.

We really felt the simpler we had Yak, the easier it would be if stuff went wrong! Yak certainly tested that theory! 😂

Awesome the people you meet along the way over landing , thy are most times so hospitable and friendly . Glad you got the landy back going . Great video again you two enjoyed seeing that area . Sorry for delay! We are taking two Defender 2.2 110’s ! Have a question if I may: did you have any worries about the drone in the stans (I understand they are technically banned in Uzbekistan?).

Just subscribed Got to hand it to you two traveling far from home in a LR that needs special attention and tender loving care and on roads that could take your life in a second. Hey guys, watched all of your videos, very inspirational! Aren’t you afraid of having a serious breakdown in the middle of nowhere, like something you can’t fix yourselves? As someone who’d like to embark in such a journey at some point, this is always haunting me. What would you do in such case?

Hey 👋 we did know that was a possibility. Breaking down is pretty much inevitable on a big trip - we just try to make sure it is as mechanically strong as possible before we left - focussing on the big things (clutch, engine etc)

A great view at least where you broke down! What year is Yak? And how many miles on the clock? Just found your channel must check out the earlier videos!

She is a 1997, 2.5 Diesel with a recorded 147k miles on the clock. As she is 25 I imagine she is on the second round of the clock. Has had a lot of issues with her MOTs down through the years. They are wonderful old cars and I have a little beauty myself. A 2007 SWB Puma Stationwagon with just a guaranteed 205k kilometres completed. Witnessing the travails of the couple with Yak it is sad but nonetheles understandable why the Toyota Landcruiser has replaced the Landy in every sphere where once she reigned supreme.

It was a beautiful place to break down! Yak is a 1997 Land Rover with roughly 100,000 miles on the clock (as far as we know). Hope you enjoy the other videos! ☺️
