Love the videos Stephen! So funny how similar our lives are, only Im in my first year of practice! I have a 5month old Goldendoodle pup named Sonny and I can relate to how much time is taken from our personal lives to accommodate for school, work, pups, etc! I used to workout almost daily and no I get lucky to get a workout in a week! Keep up the content man. Love your stuff.

Ive been struggling with it recently! I love running and lifting weights! Sure they are hard activities in the moment, but I have always felt better in life when I'm able to stick with those activities daily. Now, I barely have time to breathe. It is just part of it though and I do think, as daisy gets older, I get more settled in clinic, and a few of the classes I'm taking finish up, I will have more time to devote to working out and doing the things I enjoy. I hope at least!

Hey Stephen! I am a current D1 and I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a couple videos of your techniques for things such as a class 1 Amalgam prep (steps you use, burs used, etc.) or other procedures that would be helpful for a D1 student to practice. I know it’s all subjective but I’d love to see some more tips and tricks you might have. As always, love your content man! Cheers

Ok, two questions: 1 - Do dental professionals get cavities? have you had cavities> 2 - If you needed dental work when you were younger, was your dad disappointed in you? not like in a mean way, but like a "oh dear we talked about this" disappointment

😂😂😂 great questions!! I have occlusal fillings on all four of my first molars and those were done when I was a little kid! I haven’t had anything since! He wasn’t disappointed I think he just assumed that would happen at some point. My little brother had a ton of restorations done as a child. Dental professionals also have caries from time to time. It happens!

I may have to start referring to Daisy as "Your Daughter Daisy" 😀 I truly know the deep feeling of love you have for her because I too had a female mini black lab named Addie. Just the most sweetest girl ever. And soo smart! I looked at her like my little daughter ☺ She passed about a year ago and it was a super hard time for me as it still very much is. A little bit of advice. I didn't have her fixed because I didn't ever like the thought of it, although after speaking with her vet, I was about to, like within a a week or so, and her vet which is super great told me that sometimes when a female dog isn't fixed, they have a chance of their mammary glands getting infected or something to that nature and it's just not a good situation when that happens. So, I did want to let you know about that because anything to extend their life is what I'd want to do. But you sure have you a good girl! I'll tell you that, because female dogs, to me, seem to be smarter and sweet that males lol 😆 but I've had a sweet male dog before. The females just seem to be so in tune when you talk to them and they seem to be so much more affectionate 😊 ugggh I just loved and still love Addie so much just as you do sweet baby Daisy! Anyhoo, much thanks for the video as always and I'll be on the look out for the next one!

My man Josh thank you so much for this comment, and for sharing your story about Addie! Dogs are really a blessing and gift from God, and having Daisy has made me even more sure of that. She is in training now and learning so fast. Just today I realized she is really starting to sit every time when I tell her to no matter what. She's just picking it up, and it brings me so much joy. So excited to watch her grow and live out her life. I will always love her just as you love Addie. They are a joy! I'll see you in the next one!

Does the school ever get mad at you for recording in the school / clinic? I know my school is pretty particular on recording what you can and can’t.
@stephenraydentist
@stephenraydentist Жыл бұрын
Great question! I've never had a problem with it! At this point, the majority of the school teachers and students know that I have the channel and record videos frequently. I've never had anyone tell me to stop recording or to not record something. I just use my own very strict judgement. I know that we cannot record any patients unless we get their consent which I haven't even begun to explore yet. I am considering trying to have some patients make appearances on the channel in the future, but I need to have my footing more sure in clinic before I do so. For now, I record what I can so that I can show yall!

Do you think it's make a bigger difference if someone takes dental Hygiene school or Dental Assistant school for a future application for dental schools across the United States?
@stephenraydentist
@stephenraydentist Жыл бұрын
I would assume dental hygiene because hygiene school is a 2 year program and assisting is usually 10 weeks. However, if you want to be a dentist, don’t go to hygiene school because you’ll spend 50 grand and then have to turn around and do four more years of dental school and near 300 grand

i would love to know if you have more dentist in your family and how welthy your parents are, those loans are really expensive, in latinamerica that is crazy, patients dont want to pay 50usd for a third molar surgery from omfs, it sucks i cant imagine how could somebody pay those high loans and taxes, here in mexico it will mean eternal debt, a simple cleaning goes for about 5-10usd chheers from a third world country dentist
@stephenraydentist
@stephenraydentist Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the comment, my friend!! I also have a brother-in-law that is a dentist! My parents have done well for themselves financially as they have both worked hard for around 40 years each. It is certainly very expensive in the United States to get into dental school! The price of tuition is simply off the charts and subsequently, the prices dentists charge for their work is high (but in many cases justified).

I have two huskies in dental school. If you have to ask if its doable you probably shouldn’t get a dog lol. Just get a snake.

Hi Stephen! I’m Daniel, a UK dental student and I’m loving your content! I think we have a lot in common and I’d love to chat with you on any playform that suits you 😊 I was actually very close to making a KZfaq channel similar to yours last year, but due to significant health issues I couldn’t follow it up. I am now healed miraculously so would like to slowly get back into my old creative self! If you’re interested to chat this or next week before I start uni, drop a text on here or I could try find your account on Instagram for a DM 😁 Congrats on all your videos and achievements, God bless you abundantly ☺️
