Welcome back to The Viall Files! Today we have another special “where are they now” update show where we give you updates from our past callers to see what’s happened in their situations and relationships since appearing on the show. But wait… first we discuss controversial parenting tactics!
Our first caller originally called in for Dr. Phil’s advice! Her partner was going to prison for his 3rd DUI, and she was wondering if she should break up with him. She has since found out that he was cheating on her, and has thus broken up. Our second caller had first called in because she caught her ex cheating through a security camera, and was having a hard time moving on. He is now married to his ex, and she is now in a much better place, mentally. Our third caller had originally called in because her mom wouldn’t accept her leaving the church. There have been conversations with her parents since, and there’s a new approach to setting boundaries.
We also have some written updates - Our caller whose boyfriend cheated on her with his cousin, and our caller who didn't approve of her best friend's cheating escapades.
To catch up on all of these callers original questions please see the show numbers:

Let's see how all these parenting rules he throws out there are kept when little River gets older. I said a lot of stuff until I was knee deep in it.

I think Nick needs to get off his high horse when it comes to parenting. He’s been a dad for all of 5 seconds and he’s acting like he knows everything.

Always love to see people with newborns giving parental advice ... 🙄. Raise a couple of kids and then come back with pearls of wisdom, otherwise it is only aspirational thoughts and not something to judge other parents by.

I want an update in ten years with how all of these parenting things Nick is adamant about turn out. It’s all great in theory but the day to day of parenting is hard and you really don’t know until you experience it. There are a lot of parenting plans I had that definitely didn’t go as I had planned.

Anyone can be a predator. I really didn’t like how Nick specified stepdads as being predators. Any parent can be a predator or anyone can be a predator. You’re implying that only stepdads can be predators when fathers can be predators or mothers can be predators.

FACTS! I had a stepdad who actually raised me bc my real dad wasn't around, and at 21 I found my stepdad dead from being an alcoholic and it really fu*KED me up in the future, BUT he was there for me before he died, he raised me, he helped me, he was THE BEST father I could have ever asked for, I wish I could still tell him that to this day bc I never got to!! 😢

Forsure! If my daughter goes to a sleepover, I'm more thinking about if the other little girl has any brothers or cousins that are around. Also even the other kid could be exposed to things your kids aren't & try to do things they've seen from adults.

reminder while its important for children to earn things its also important to gift things and make them feel appreciated. i understand the worry of raising spoiled children but there’s a point where feeling like everything has to be earned will cause resentment. my parents never gave chores and were quite generous with gifts despite not having a lot of money and in turn we grew up very grateful and had positive associations with everyday chores. children can learn to do things because it has a positive outcome and they want to, not because they felt forced. just to add another perspective!

Man, I have a lot of feelings regarding the heavy judgement on parenting types. Everyone has their own journey. We don’t need to guilt people into parenting the way you think is best. Also, how damaging is it to disparage Stepdads. Gross.

You “seasoned parents” can never let anyone be happy lmao🤣 new born parents or parents to teenagers let them be confident in their parenting styles. Yeah they’ll make mistakes down the road (everyone does) but that’s for them to learn ! Not for Yall to shove down their throats and offer expectations of failure smh. To Nick and the fam, yall are doing just fine. Be confident and don’t let the “pro parents” get to yall.

Is it me or since vial files+ the updates for everyone became boring and not interesting at all? Like the second caller with the guy who she dates for a second and saw h on security camera with a girl. The update was so confusing to me that I just skipped the whole call. You knew the guy for 2 seconds. You fell in love with the idea of him. Don’t make such a big deal out of no deal at all. Those “free” updates frustrating and annoying 😣

I also was raised Catholic & have VERY similar beliefs & ways I was raised that mimic Nick. My upbringing was very different from the way they raise today. Very entitled today, don't have to work for anything, get stuff instantaneously etc etc etc It's a big ICK for me today to coexist in society with these entitled humans.

Not phones, its the internet that has ruined everything, yet here we are, watching a youtube video, shopping for clothes, ordering food, getting it delivered, paying rent, buying shares, seeing a friend on the other side of the world, its so convenient and easy and privileged and we wouldn't know how to exist any other way, but its the cause of so many issues in the world right now, especially youths.

Please stop dishing on Sheena Shay it’s so childish. You are mid 40’s , a father of a daughter that one day may be the Blount of every joke just like you’re doing to her. It’s so old. I can not stand it! Losing views and not encouraging us to watch Katie channel at all due to the childish behavior. It’s not necessary.

When you have to ask your parents for permission . Can I join Girl Scouts ? Can I go to piano lessons ? Stores are needs & wants , not a spoiled brat. Did you ever hear about the granddaughter with 100 pairs of jeans . The boy with a DUI , slamming at boy scouts , spraying mom with a water gun, bragging about his new toys . When parents had two paychecks, grandfather treating , a spoiled brat. I was ready to change my church parish ! My low business income, moms check for apartment utilities. Son wants toys like him ! Religion keeps you Immaculate . How is it when poverty can sing on a stage & learn to use instruments . Spoiled brats do not appreciate . Parents that are over domineering , have children who are deviets . Than it goes further, sons prom girlfriend , is his girlfriend . I even got accused of mistreating my son. Never would I do such an absurd ignorance . These people are way over on being treated with pay checks. They can afford a new house in Orland Park , Illinois. Prayer keeps you closer to God , when the tough gets tougher. When a step son helps with paying a step fathers bills. Sewing in England, Contracting in America is an income . Step fathers hospital bill ! There are days I ask Jesus , about all that has happened. Than son cannot find a decent girlfriend. When movie stars , want to come home ! The star ship in all these peoples lives. The beauty salon owner gets accused of doing the way we do . When your customers , patronage because they want too. The barbiturates brought into America are bringing down everybody. There is ugly and beautiful in all Ethnics. The permissiveness in some people is cruel, illegal criminal . What are you way up about ?
