Technology transfer was in bits and pieces and concentrated on certain areas of assembly and integration-many crucial technology was not shared. Such a technology transfer deal supports in indigenising repair and overhaul of relevant sections it was meant for. India has to invest heavily in r&d on lot of other areas to build upon the technology transfer for a complete solution.

Also what is the point in dissing LCA by comparing with LIFT/LCA platforms like T7A (Saab/Boeing) and FA50 when LCA's LIFT version can be used for training for pilots switching over to heavier/twin engined jets and Saab's fighter jet Gripen also has turbofan of the same wer thrust class of ~80KN and not any significantly greater nose cross section to put in greater number of TR modules. And there is no way a FA50 or T7A with all bells and whistles costs any less than Tejas with all bells and whistles, if anything, they cost more. Also Tejas is capable of carrying more payload and it is capable of greater G loads than FA50 or T7A, like a true multiple fighter jet. If anything, evolution of so many jets in this weight and thrust class shows there is a niche market in developing economies for such jets for area defense and shallow air to ground campaign with stand off munitions. Gripen is certainly not as much capable as FA18, Rafale or Typhoon in payload and deep penetration abilities in enemy airspace because of limitations in its dimensions, not because of technological infeeiority; so there is no reason to diss Tejas for the same reason. There are valid points on which Tejas can be criticised, like development timeline, numbers inducted so far or if Tejas could be made slightly bigger to create more internal volume for installing certain crucial electronic warfare components and for installing a top-rated turbofan for slightly more wet thrust (and Gripen and FA18s have walked this path of evolution) and there are also some strong counter reasoning to some of that which can not be rebuffed just like that. But dissing the functionalities of LCA Tejas in its current form of what the MK1A or MK2 will get, by trivilialising it just as worse and less price competitive than South Korean or Boeing LIFT trainer jet is unproductive.

I am huge fan of AIM, have learned a lot of historical stuff from him but..... he is wrong with that 'India is 3rd world and cant do sht ' jibe. India is actually better place with more promising future then most "2nd world" countries like Brazil and argentina.....even though they have extremely less population density,not the dozens of social issues that India and way more natural resources....Countries like Brazil nd Argentina have much more institutional inefficiencies and brainless laws then India..cos just like India they are continuing the same colonial era institutions. I will go as far as say India is a better place to live then south korea even tho Korea is much "richer" on papers. Having personally worked with koreans.....the toxic work culture there is unlike anywhere in world...and unlike India there is very little scope to set your own business and be successful....not to say Korean laws are very old school like India's. What Inida needs to do is improve its colonial era Judiciary ,beauraucracy and police and make laws which are unambigous and work on logic.
