Absence of evidence is only evidence of absence when there's good reason to expect the thing to have left evidence that we'd have found already. Jesus could have existed (a naturalistic Jesus: with lots of supernatural stories merely told about him), and left no evidence that I'd expect we'd definitely have found. He could have vanished into history without a trace, like most people did. I see this as basically on par with him not existing, equally likely.

I think it refers to a people with a particular mindset, with people who are open to hear, study and genuinely consider and accept Christ. Which is why Jesus reveals His word to everybody, He has no favorites, but like in the parable of the mustard seed, it depends on the soil (persons mindset) that it falls on. Jesus also says 'he who has ears let him hear'. His message is for everyone. God does not work with favorites, He works with the willing. The old testament brings light to the fact that even when God had a chosen group of people like the Israelites or a specific person like Moses, they often failed God and so Jesus came because we are all plagued by sin, none is special and so the forgivness and the chance to be redeemed and be that special people is offered to all. Even in the parable of the wedding feast, it shows how God did have a chosen people represneted by the people a king exclusively invited to a wedding feast but they ignored His call and turned away from Him. Some of His chosen even kill the servants that were sent to call them and God punishes them. He then sends more of His servants to call everyone and anyone from the street corner since His chosen have refused the call, it says 'they went and called eveyone, good and bad'. When they all come the king finds a man that snuck into the feast without proper attire and when questioned was silent, he was then thrown away and it ends with the statememt 'many are invited but few are chosen'. This goes to show that God invites all (through His word and dying for our sins) but you must do your part to wear the right attire for the feast, that right attire is the acceptance of Jesus' forgiveness as your Lord and savior and to turn away from sin which can only be done by His help. Otherwise not even the word will help you. This also shows just because you act religious and read your bible doesn't earn you a seat at the feast.

I had the same question about babies who pass in the womb or early life, wouldnt it be better that they didnt have the chance to sin against god and risk their eternal life? What really happens to those babies. It seems weird that some of us have to live this life learning all its lesson and hopefully eventually accepting christ while some who never get a chance just get to go to heaven for eternity.

Young students haven't lived, observed, made decisions and tried to live with them. They aren't told the truth and don't get real news. I looked up when the fetal heartbeat is first detected in the womb because of the arguments people were giving me that they thought were valid. Tom is not a troll but a basic agnostic/atheist. I was there myself before i came to know God therefore i understand him well. He wont change unless God touches his heart and God can touch his heart through other christians. The Gospels were not constructed to be read as historical accounts. There are many historical standards contemporary within the 1st century. Say perhaps Dionysius of Halicarnassus, or Suetonius in his Life of Augustus, or Thucydides in History of the Peloponnesian War, or Philo, Tacitus, even Josephus (although the testimonium is a later insertion). The the genre of ancient Greek and Latin historiography is very well studied. If you read the account in Genesis you will learn many things accurate to the context of this world. We are spiritual beings like Adam and Eve given bodies so that we may learn the difference between good and evil, make moral choices, and by our own experience learn what consequences there are to physical existence. A being with the power to create also has the power to destroy, a being who is vulnerable also knows that other beings are vulnerable as well, and a being with freewill can learn the consequences of success and failure. All our capacities were given to us by creation and without creation we have no capacity for physical experience. These truths are accurate to human existence and observable in general human psychology. The syllogism: I don’t like bad things. People do bad things. Therefore, God doesn’t exist. Doesn’t arrive at a rational conclusion. Everything rational points to God and the irrational points us away from God. This is a consequence of freewill and vulnerability. When we are behaving rationally we are in touch with our purpose, we have faith in ourselves and our day to day actions, and we can benefit from a growth mindset. In order to honor the dignity of human freewill God manifests differently in our lives according to our faith. Faith is our belief, our worldview, and our pathway within the unknown. God grants to us more and more of what we choose to believe in, if what we choose to believe in is out of touch with reality it causes havoc in reality. God orders and provides things like rain, wisdom, and renewing strength. The more we express to God we don’t want to listen, if we want to go our own way, God honors our request, we move farther away from the source of order, and more havoc erupts around us. Praying is a mental and spiritual exercise in using the power of words to organize the capacities of our mind to draw closer to God. Everything in this universe is not primarily composed of matter it is primarily composed of meaning, secondarily we identify some things as matter. Our observations are processed in our minds as meaning, our minds process language as a source of meaning, and we interact in relationships through meaning. When we interact with the many books of the Bible they are a source of accurate meaning irregardless of their authors. The authors are historically verifiable people who wrote in historical narrative but that isn’t the main concern when trying to grasp the meaning of their writings. When we process meaning from our experience we filter it through freewill mechanisms to either accept or deny that meaning toward confirming it as true or rejecting it as false. What we accept as true effects how we are oriented in the world and to be properly oriented in the world we need sufficient and effective meaning.

First of all, hundreds of first-hand witnesses (disciples) before and after His resurrection. Their testimony brought us the 4 gospels. Then the second-hand witnesses of what the disciples could do in Jesus's name (heal the sick, raise the dead, etc). Their witness was so profound that their life changed and they were faithful to Him unto death by persecution. So on and so forth, generation after generation. In today time, that chain of witnesses still continue. His believers are still being called into His kingdom either by direct encounter with Jesus or by witnessing to ones who had.
