If you ask me, they probably loaded up the dungeon map files and closely examined the structure models to find those "holes" and shortcuts. Trial and error would have taken years.

Since character can exist anywhere in the game world, they do fall since there are no programmed objects bellow appart from the "map ground" created to kill people that excedentaly fell through object collision. Devs have to spend some time filling those collision spots with invisible texture blocks to repell.

The way you figure this out is you try to think of where they might not have put collision in because it would be pointless to. Most of the spots he found were just walls that had no collision coded into them, because no one ever thought of trying to go through there.

Actually it isnt that hard to figue all that stuff out if u have any idea how 3d modeling in games work. there are wow model viewers u can download and inspect basically any model in wow in a 3d perspective. there u can see what walls etc are actual objectives and which are just wallpapers with no physical objective behind it. atleast like 50% of all high build "objectives" are just wallpapers. this technique takes a lot less time than doing an actual 3d objective of something and is mainly usedat points where blizzard thought would never be reachable by players. back then demon hunters with double jump and back flip werent in mind so the level from which they started to use wallpapers seemed a bit low for today

If you aggro G'hun, all the other bosses dies, your loot comes in your mailbox and some hours/days later you're banned.

They figure it out by using an MPQ extractor (Commonly used by custom WoW private servers) once the map files have been extracted you can install a 3rd party application that can edit or simply view the map file in 3D this will allow you to see the entire map these guys use this to study the map exploits more quickly than just simple trial and error. You could actually use an editor to modify map walls and more sorta like they did in AQ 40 using the floor removal exploit it probably won't work anymore on retail but private servers probably will

this works basically because they haven't scripped the dungeon well and back in tbc there was no way in doing stuff like that ... they prolly wont even fix it because he is not getting anything out of that because of the speed.

Part of speedrunning is glitch hunting. That's basically 80% of it right there and the rest is fine tuning your run.

I think it's the same problem Nexon had with the original Maplestory back in the day. They had 4 classes, game worked fine. They added Pirate, still worked fine. Even when they added the Cygnus Knights the game was fine. But when they started adding the hero classes and stuff like that? Hooooooo boy. And Blizzard basically did the same thing. Game was fine with the 9 original classes and Monk was a fine addition. However, I remember playing back in WotLK and the DK being stronger than the original classes, and there was that same problem when they released Legion with the Demon Hunter class. The idea of "prestige classes" that are stronger than the normal classes doesn't really work in MMORPGs where all the characters are mingled together, because then it makes the players that are playing normal classes feel less "heroic", I suppose. My main was a mage and I tried the DH, and it was the most broken thing I've ever played.

You can open up the mpq files in autodesk maya and check witch areas only got texture Maps and no interactive polygons :)
