You’re so right about dystopian novels being based on history ! The author of the hunger games was actually inspired by traditions in ancient rome. Back then people forced slaves or criminals to fight against dangerous animals or against each other in an arena till one of them died. Watching these fights was a huge event for rich people in rome! Many names of people in the capitol are actually latin by the way (for example Flavius, Octavia, Castor, Pollux etc)

Facts!! The story of Theseus in Greek mythology was another inspo. Collins also said news coverage of Iraq war and reality television were a few more influence

I’m so glad you mentioned yoga ASMR! I’ve been teaching for many years and enjoying ASMR for many years. I’ve always wanted someone who has actually been through YTT to do yoga ASMR. I’ve watched some videos before but I noticed just getting frustrated because the content creator was clearly not informed. The ASMR aspect of it was fine, but I couldn’t get past the inaccuracies 😂. Anyway, I’m super stoked for you and your YTT journey. It’s such a beautiful learning experience. I’m also VERY excited for this future merging of two of my favorite things! I’ll be on the look out.

gwen i actually love you so much! i recently lost my sweet, SWEET lil 16 year old catto that i’ve had since i was 8, and the whole way thru the grieving process i just kept thinking of you and riv and how realistic, compassionate and sensitive you were about losing her... idk, it gave me strength and really helped me come to terms with everything, and find peace in something that otherwise feels so overwhelmingly sad. i keep thinking about her soul (i genuinely don’t know what i believe in tho lol... but the kitty had ✨soul✨), and how i tried my best to make sure that her passing on was as smooth, beautiful and easy for her as possible. i really do feel like one day our souls will intertwine again. just... thank you! i actually cannot wait to befriend and adopt another lil kitty. 💛
