Really happy I stumbled on this discussion. I am rereading the series and am reminded just how great it is. I think he's the best writer of the genre. Also, the hats are very cool!

Esmenet grows in Prince of nothing so much. Just the scene where she is taking the wife of the prophet role seriously and has the people who wrote anti-khellus graffiti flayed even though she knows they were just the poor lowborn paid by the scorned nobility sets the tone so well.

39:12 - The Lord Kosoter and "sometimes the dead bounce" talk got me thinking - I wonder if Kosoter's massively damnable sin soaked sponge of a soul was such a delectable delicacy to the ciphrang in the Outside, that they decided to send it back to his body in the material world so it could marinate itself in even more, zestier delicious sin?

Chorae were really rare, but were abundant enough for elite bowman to have. Honestly seems like analogous to real life platemail. Only the extremely rich nobility would have them, but kingdoms would use their wealth to employ whole units to have them.

They're more precious than that imo, as it's a very finite, unreproducible resource. It's only the Inchoroi with the knowledge of how they're crafted/created iirc

I don't know - I go with the idea that Ajokli was one of the decapitants, and the other decapitant is the one that takes Malowebwi's body to Zeum (off screen). So I don't think there are any left! My guess is that Kosoter is just a particularly damaged and experienced Scalpoi with experience of the Holy War.

This seswatha achamien cross overs are crazy. I have a feeling it has something to do with Kellhus’s convo with seswatha during his hypnosis of Achamien. I don’t know but it’s fucking nuts.

I do think Kellhus'... let's say, "hypnosis" of Achamian to "speak" with Seswatha in TTT is part of it but I've long had a theory that the eventual Mandate Schoolman who resembles Seswatha most will be the one to unlock his memories through the Grasping. I have wilder theories, like say, the Grasping itself binds the living Mandate to Seswatha across time and space but I'd prefer to save them for a record with Red ;).

Has anyone had the thought that the fanim god is the one true god and potentially a path to salvation? The fanim believed the inrithi worship demons which we know is true. Also cishaurim don’t bear the mark perhaps they aren’t damned. I remember Kelhus saying something about believing in one superior god but he’s most likely oblivious or uninterested in humanity. However the cishaurim believe the only way to connect to god is to remove their eyes so they can’t see the material world. Just a thought.

I've thought about this recently myself. It could be a kind of heaven/hell dichotomy. The Outside the Inrithi are concerned with is the realm of the demons and pagan type polytheistic deities, while the monotheistic Fanim deity inhabits it's own separate realm
