I read the Ac4 book, it shows that Edward wanted to be rich for Caroline causes she left her wealthy life for him. Also, Edward is not a womaniser compared to the Ac trailers. He remained a loyal husband at West indies.

God Edward’s life before being a pirate always pulls on my heart especially when he says “don’t give up on me Caroline, not when I need your faith the most” and when he says/yells in the hallucination “you left when I needed you the most”

1:54 this is such powerful imagery Edward has such ambitious personal hopes throughout the game and usually in films/games the hero looks out on a sunset hoping to be more than what they are, Edward says: “I want food that don’t make me sick, I want walls that hold back the wind, I want a decent life” These extremely personal ambitions allow us too connect with Edward and understand why he turns to piracy in the Caribbean when Edward looks out the window nothing can be seen as it’s impossible to remain successful and happy when you only pursue purely selfish goals a lesson he will learn later in the game.

at 7:08 on the french translation of the game he says "Only a little one i hope.....I've seen enough for one life." Like Altair and Ezio said.

I'm really glad that I read the book Some important stuff about Edward's past are left out (probably for times sake) in the game Example the flash backs implies that Edward has always been a greedy pirate but he was just trying to provide for his wife because she'd given up a life of wealth to be with him

Edwards life, as an anology of course, is so much like a real life. First, he left his primal family, his original home, to seek fortune, himself, his life. Lying to them and himself that he will return. On his way, he met new family, found a new home, but he had to chase whatever he believed is his goal to the point, where he lost everything and everyone he gained along his way. And only then, when he had nothing to lose and nowhere to return, he started a new family, provided home and 'found what he was looking for', because he had no more reason to go seek something in the world.

Ezio & Edward really the most interesting & fully characterized Assassins. Everything about them just breaths cool 😤

Ironically, if he had stayed in Bristol with Caroline, he might have died a similar fate 🤔

The Kenway’s have such a tragic outcome. His daughter was forced to work in a brothel I think, his son became a Templar, Connor ended up getting divorced and had to watch his people slowly die off…. Just sad asf

Would it be funny since Matt Ryan's Constantine is in Legends of Tomorrow, time traveled to the Golden Age of Piracy and they reference Edward Kenway by having Constantine meet an ancestor of him as a pirate? XD

The Kenways did not have a happy course. Edward lost a wife who loved him for who he was and was happy with him because of his inability to appreciate what he already had, lost all his friends to life and betrayal, found a new family and lost them when he was betrayed and murdered by a trusted friend who he did not realise was the Templar Grand Master. Haytham lost his father, mother and sister, became a Templar, stayed one and died at his own son's hands because he couldn't let go of the Templar cause even after he found out how much it ruined his life. Jennifer Scott lost her mother, father, stepmother and brother and was sold into sexual slavery by her betrothed, endured years of degradation and lived the rest of her days as a bitter and resentful spinster. And Connor............ he lost his mother, father, mentor, best friend, village and entire people, but found love in time and had children and lived happily with them.

In this regard, Edward has a lot in common with Woodes Rogers, because like Rogers, he also paid the price of a broken marriage due to his maritime ambitions.

Edward wanted what nearly all husbands and fathers want for themselves and there family.

I always wanted see more about Caroline too bad we only met her in memories.

The reason why Edward wasn't living comfortably or modest is because of his low class origins, and his brief life of a Privateer (which is a very minimum wage in his time). Which is why he became a Pirate.
