This is my new HARBOR FREIGHT 4x8 heavy duty FOLDING trailer rated for 1195lbs. In this video i open the box go through the contents and first impressions, assemble with a few pauses to discuss some of the things i discovered while building. i close with the the things i like and the things i don't like about this trailer.
the reason i purchased this trailer is because i need a trailer to put my homemade plywood boat on (links below). i have found many boat trailers locally but for some inexplicable reason, no one seems to have a title for the trailers they are selling. I for one don't want to buy a trailer (or other property) that i cant actually own!!
the harbor freight trailer i purchased goes by several item numbers 62648, 62666, 90154 as far as i know they are all the same, the item numbers help differentiate which factory in china produced the trailer (according to a sales associate at the local harbor freight).
originally, i wanted the harbor freight boat trailer but decided to go with the folding trailer instead...here are the cons i could see about using the dedicated boat trailer made by harbor freight (item number 62668 link below):
1. much lighter duty - at 600lbs simply too light
2. small wheels - 8" diameter vs 12" diameter
3. availability - online only
4. cost - at $400 it was $140 more than the folding trailer (with coupon)
all in all i think it was work the money. buying things at harbor freight can be hit and miss but in this case i feel that the folding trailer was a HIT! now with the trailer complete i can modify it (after i get it inspected and titled) for the Homemade plywood boat and get the boat back home where i can finish it...FINALLY!
