Thanks for your very detailed review of both frames. I had often wondered what the difference was between these frames. I’m in the UK and last year I ordered a Millennium frame with extra rods. I then added another pair of stretcher bars to my order before it was made. I placed my order in May and received it in August; so a wait time of just three months. Then at the end of November I ordered two further sets of scroll rods and I received those early in January; so a wait time of only a month. Communication was great throughout both purchases.

Hallo! I have just recived my first Omanik quantum frame! I am soooo happy, I am going to try it today. It looks allright. I live in Belgium 🇧🇪, and it took exactly 7 weeks to get here from Estonia. Well packed, and with a little chocolate, how kind 😋. I really liked your video 👍

Thank you for that wonderful comparison not just of the frames but of the buying/delivery. I have been tossing around which one to get and think I will go for the quantum. I believe there is a month wait for it now.

You are welcome. the video is a few years old by now and I think I did hear that Omanik had a factory refurbishment that caused a bit of a waiting list, but haven't heard any complaints.

Thank you very much for your review. I ordered my first Millenium frame last October, and they weren't delivered until April, so, a 6 month wait. However, their customer service from that point on was superb. One of my rods was damaged in transit, and they immediately shipped a complete new set (2 new rods) which arrived within 10 days. I will say that they are the best stretcher bars I have ever used, and the wood they use is so sturdy and beautiful. I just ordered my second set of bars, and I'm ready to wait 4 months or so. But! Now that I've seen your video, I'm going to order a set of Quantum frames to see how they are. The shipping time seems too good to be true!! Thanks again for the great video. :)

Thank you for your review. I've wanted a millenium for a long time but the cost and mainly the stories I've heard about the wait time and their customer service have put me off. Thank you for your review. It was very useful. From my research I think the Millennium frame is a better made product - just to have the side bars in all-wood and one piece appeals to me. The Millennium is also grow-able if you want to purchase a lap stand or a floor stand at a later time.

I think they have fixed the packaging problems. The box I received mine in was the perfect size and everything was well protected inside. Since it looks like the tension is just as good on the Omanik frame, I think I'll cancel my order at Needle Needs. I've already been waiting for three months. I love my Quantum frames. Thank you taking the time to review these. I have wanted the Millenium frame since I heard about them a couple years ago but the cost and wait hindered me. Someone just told me about the Quantum frame so I've been watching KZfaq videos on them. I think I will save up for the Quantum ones. I have a cheap wing nut frame right now and it will have to do. What type of stand do you use?

Hi Sandra, i'm glad this was helpful for you. I think Orietta recently showed some more on the quantum frames with more recent information, it might be interesting for you as well. An interesting video - and subtitled so I can actually use it (I'm deaf). I've had both Millenium and Omanik and back in the past, the original frame with this structure, The Cleopatra's Needle Freedom Frame (no longer available, sadly). The Omanik wins hands down I'm afraid, both for customer service and for quality. I had issues with my MIllenium Frame, such that it was consigned to the tip several years ago, but I've had my Omanik Quantum frames for almost 5 years now with no problems at all - I think the timber used is better quality and doesn't split or warp. The best of all was the Freedom Frame so if you ever see one on Ebay, snap it up!!

Hi Ingeborg, thanks for this explanation of the two frames, just what I was looking for. Could you tell me how you hold the frame when stitching, is it held in a stand or do you rest it against the edge of the table ? Many thanks x
@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 2 жыл бұрын
I rest it on a stand, I think most people do. A frame is quite heavy to hold, not at all like a q-snap for instance. I think resting it against the table would not give you much room to get your hands behind it for two handed stitching, but I've never tried. A lot of people use the lowery stand, you have to clamp your frame onto the stand. Mine is a basic wooden floor stand (I think it's called a stitchmaster) where I just lay the frame on the stand (no clamping)

I've watched your most recent videos but now going to binge watch from the very first one. I love how you chose your Floss Tube channel name. I did see the movie, A Bridge Too Far. If you're Dutch how did you come by a Scandinavian name? I don't find your name difficult to pronounce, BTW. My question with the frames comparison is what are the pros and cons of each. If you were to order another, which would you choose? I could listen to you speak all day!
@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Joan, thanks for watching! Lots of questions so here goes: I dont know why i have a Scandinavian name, my sister does too. I guess my parents just liked them. Over here its not uncommon to have names from other languages like english or french. For the frames i can honestly say that i like them both but as i said in the video the main difference is the customer service and the wait time. I've ordered some more frames since then and they were from Omanik, because i like the quality and the service and i didnt want to wait an unkown amount of months for my order to come.

Hey, thanks for commenting on my new frame video. I have a question for you, how will it work to fold pieces that are too wide? If I fold a few inches on the sides and then stitch in the middle will my fabric be ruined and warped?
@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 7 жыл бұрын
HI Carrie, i have not tried that much, the reason being that i cant get the tension right when i fold in the edges of the fabric. I've not had it warp from that (i have had it warp from using tent stitch, but that was no problem), but i also havent done that long term on any project (as i said i dont like the lesser tension with the folded over fabric)

from what I have seen, it is better to get a bigger frame than to fold it. (owner of a quantum from omanik)

Just to update everyone - I ordered from Needle Needs on Feb 1, 2017, and it is now 7 months later, and I have not received my frame. I did email them a couple of months ago, and I received a nice answer from John, so I decided to wait. I sent another email of inquiry last week and have not gotten an answer. Anyway......Thanks for your factual video - lots of information!

Hi.. I do tapestry/cross stitch work but I was doing it on the common roller frame. Could you tell how this differs from those type? I only heard of it when I was about to order my Lowrey stand and these words "millenium" and I can't find any information of these two comparisons. If you can, pls could you let me know... thank you & look forward to your reply!
@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Magdalena, I think the main difference is that with the 'common' roller frame you have to sew the fabric onto the frame and then roll it up. WIth the millenium and quantum frame you don't sew the fabric but secure it in that slot with the rod. It makes it a lot more easy to switch out projects on your frames. I hope that makes sense. The only other difference i can think of is that the millennium and quantum frame are quite sturdy and heavy compared to most 'common' scroll frames. I would recommende using a frame stand when you use these frames, other scroll frames you might still be able to stitch in hand

Thank you for this video. I tried to send an email to the Omanik company per their website, but the email came back to me undeliverable. I checked and I had entered the address correctly. I live in the US. Do I need to call to ask questions? Wondering if their email has changed and the website isn't updated. I hope they are still in business! What size frames do you have currently? I have a very large project I want to do so I think I may need the 90cm rods for the Heaven and Earth Design I want to do. I also want one that will work with most other projects. What do you suggest?
@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Donna, i dont have any other mail adress, but you could try Orietta Stitches here on KZfaq, she has close contacts with Omanik. I have 50cm (about 19 inch) and 60 cm (about 23 inch) horizontal bars, A regular fat quarter will fit nicely on a 50 cm bar with the long side of the fabric vertically (portrait orientation), so i would suggest that if you stitch a lot of ladies/mermaids like the Mirabilias. i don't do full coverage so that's about as big as i need for my projects. I'd advise you to get the small vertical scroll bars 15/20 cm because otherwise you'd be reaching too much most likely. Orietta has the 90cm bars i think. Check out her FAQ video she did a while ago here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h86nZs53ytubpX0.html

@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 6 жыл бұрын

How much do the weigh? Do the frames differ significantly in how much they weigh when using?

Hi Debra, I've never weighed them but they are both the same size and made of wood and i don't feel a significant difference in the weight. Also i use a stand to lay the frame on when i stitch, i don't hold the frame in hand when i stitch. Hope that answers your question, happy stitching!
