I like your version as it has your personality in it I'd rather hear music with character than sterile perfection, its great to hear these kind of pieces played by lots of different musicians at different stages of their playing. I like to learn a piece to a certain standard then play it in complete darkness or outside with the moon over a mountain just using my ears and feel, it changes the way the piece is played and its fun - I dont sit in the dark too long! Thanks for your music.

Your version was different in places than the version I had learned though, although not drastically. The thing I love about this piece is even now, more than 11 years after giving up the guitar I can still pick one up and play most of this piece - I practiced very hard for that exam 20 years ago I guess.

Well Michael, there is no doubt you are a good guitar player. The tone of your guitar is like a Martin Classical I had. I love it. I think if you balance out the comments, you will move forward. The best thing all musicians can do to move forward is to claim their right to enjoy playing, no matter how the top guy plays. I am a John Williams, Julian Bream, (once Segovia), Anna Vidovic - you get it - admirer. But because of these people we now have a multitude of good players and great players. I'm really an electric guitarist dabbling in flamenco sounds, but I do play the start of this piece. Because I like to improvise, I play as you do and bring in the triplets. So I have no issue. There is an awful lot of snobbery in music, especially classical. That's what makes it classical - learn the rules and abide by them. However, if man abided by that, we would never have Hendrix, Beatles, Paco de Lucia and would have never gone into space. Keep enjoying music and accept that we all have different tastes - so not all will find your playing refreshing. You have some techniques I wish I had.
@michaellucarelli

Thank you! Love your comments. I have a balanced ego and I know where people are coming from. I knew this arrangement would get people commenting. There's nothing wrong with simplifying a piece... unless it's this piece. If you can't play it properly, i suggest not playing it at all. I adore this piece mainly because of the texture it gives with the triplets and you didn't play them.
@michaellucarelli
@michaellucarelli 10 жыл бұрын
what triplet's? go look at the piano score. Not simplifying. It is actually more difficult this way and more correct to the original composition. try it and you will see what i mean. this music is vary percussive.
@BooxoBoo
@BooxoBoo 10 жыл бұрын
Michael Lucarelli Well... all due respect, you're not playing the piano. And, the piano piece is different to the one on guitar. The section at 0:28, it should be triplets going from the meoldy to B and then E, you went straight to E. You don't play the triplets after the chords either. It maybe more correct, but the way I play it with the triplets is a lot harder and, in my opinion, sounds better. Look up Narcisso Yepes, Ana Vidovic and John Williams playing the triplets in Asturias. You'll see what i mean.

For sure Michael Lucarelli has the best interpretation of this instrumental song, his style has the most soul and feeling into the song, everyone else just plays it average.
