If your Asus Laptop is not turning on, this tutorial will show you how to start troubleshooting for the cause. This video applies if your computer seems totally dead or has minimal signs of life including lights only or hard drive and fan sounds that start but then stop right away. Check out the FAQ's and Related Links below !!
Please remember to Like, Share, and Sub if this video was helpful :)

FAQ's:
Q: Does this video apply to my issues?
A: This video is for computers with no signs of life that appear 'dead'. It will also help if you see minimal signs of life such as lights only or some hard drive / fan sounds but they stop right a way. If you are able to see anything on the screen at any point or if the hard drive / fan sound remain on, your issue could be something else. Leave me a message with your exact symptoms and I can direct you to the correct video :)
Q: I have tried all the steps seen here without identifying the issue :(
A: If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; • How To Test your Lapto... & • How to Fix Test Your H... . You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.

Hi, Thank you for your help. I have an Asus X543U Laptop with a non-removable battery. I have established that it is not the charger as I have tested the charger on other Asus Laptops(charger worked), and have tested their chargers on my laptop(still no power). I, unfortunately, do not have the correct size screwdriver to remove the panel to test if removing the internal battery would help.

hey bud, how's it goin'... I'm having no power issue with TUF a17 2021.... Last time it was turned off there was a cellphone charging, and a wacom pen display was connected via hdmi ( hdmi plugs into radeon and not the rtx 3070 graphics ) I believe this combo produced the issue... anyways I tried removing the adapter , removing the battery, cleaing static charge... nadda... then a couple days later I did the same and it powered up and turned on just on battery... another issue appeared... when the laptop is closed and not turned off and you open the lid, sometimes it is impossible to enter pass.... this is how it booted this last time... i did a restart trough win...same thing couldn't input pass.. the I did a shutdown, and again no power issue... When I connect the charger the battery light is white = 100%.... I also tried removing RAM didnt help... Only thing I can think off is going to my friends garage and use the multimeter tool to measure the charge on ac adapter and on battery.... If you have any other suggestion ; I would appreciate it.... by the way this model doesnt have a coin cell battery to clear CMOS (spoke with ASUS).. have a good one....

I have a ASUS Q505UA laptop, that started to show some fatigue and delay in recharging the battery. As of tonight it performed its last recharge that took an hour to get to 20%, then it stopped working altogether. I tried a few of your suggestions to discharge the battery by holding the power button for a minute. Next I disconnected the power adapter, and repeated the power button hold. With each of the two attempts the power light never came back on. This led me to research battery placements. I came across a unit (ZTHY C1N1703 battery). The voltage range is 11.55v with a capacity of 52Wh. In addition I also looked at a UL Listed 45W AC Charger adapter that was compatible with my laptop. There is a slight snag that I am sure you could assist me with. The under body of the laptop does not have detachable component to extract the battery from, which leaves only removing the bottom portion of the laptop. If you could provide step by step instructions to dismantling the under carriage, as well as removal of interior components that would hinder easy access to the dead battery. My next project after this is resolved will be either replacing few non operating keys or just get a replacement keyboard. Thanks in advance.

I've owned a G512LV-ES74 (Asus Rog Strix G15, 2020) for 3 years, and I recently opened up my laptop to clean the fans. After disconnecting the battery connector and fan connectors, cleaning the fans, and putting everything back, my laptop will not turn on. I've done it before (sometime in 2022), but this time, there is no signs of life at all. Charging indicator does not light up when plugged, rgb lights won't turn on, nothing. I don't know how to remove the battery (only disconnect the connector), so I haven't tried that method you mentioned. I'm thinking I did something wrong (maybe forgot to plug something or something else) but I don't know, as I've doubled checked and remember plugging in everything I unplugged. There was no update beforehand, no spills, no overheating, etc. It worked completely normal last night. Could a battery or charger really die all of a sudden in the morning when the previous night it was completely fine?
@PC_Monkey
@PC_Monkey 5 ай бұрын
In order to perform the power drain test, you only need to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. As long as its disconnected, plastically removing it is not needed :) If the computer worked before I enter it but does not work after, my first assumption is that I left something disconnected or loose. Does this help review all the connections? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbJ4druIyJfLkqM.html

Only two steps I couldn't do are the RAM and the CMOS battery, since the RAM is soldered and I couldn't find the CMOS battery!

Hey man ! You seem to know what you're talking about, so please, your insight would be appreciated. I have an ASUS GL502VMZ laptop that won't turn on. My setting has 4 total OSes: I have a 256 GB SSD with Windows 11 and Fedora (Linux)39, and a HDD with Ubuntu 23 and Windows 10. The reason why is, I had to give away one PC, so I just transferred my HDD to the ASUS one. That setup worked fine for about two days. Then the third day, Windows 11 started acting funny. It wouldn't boot (It would crash and gave me a Blue Screen Of Death, twice). When it finally booted, I updated drivers, in particular the ATK package for the keyboard controls, because my Backlit keyboard wouldn't turn on on Windows. I rebooted the PC and everything worked fine. The next day, my nightmare started. The laptop simply won't turn on anymore. Whenever I press the power on button, I get the 💡LED turning solid white, and the 🔋 light blinking green. The power button has its own LED that stays red the whole time. But I get nothing. I can hear the fans turning , but the screen shows nothing at all. I've tried holding the Power button for over 30 seconds, with and without the battery connected, on the battery, or on the AC adapter only...to no avail. Same behavior every time. One solid White light, and one blinking green. Any idea what I might be missing? 😢

I used my laptop on an IKEA pad for laptops, but I used it upside-down on the soft side. One minute before midnight I quickly without thinking put the laptop on a chair and the IKEA-pad on top. I ran out to see the fireworks!🎆 When I came back the laptop was dead except that it was very warm and the status indicator was blinking white/blue (turns red when charging - same lamp). To get it working again I pressed the power button for 10 seconds or so. Then I waited for the laptop to cool down. Then I could turn it on again! Thanks for the video! I used the Nvidia GFX. Perhaps if I had used only the Intel integrated graphics it would not have become so warm.

Hey, my laptop suddenly died on me. Went away(while it was on battery), came back shortly after, and the screen was black; the indicators also didn't light on. I've tried everything so far. The battery indicator doesn't light up when plugged in not even when on battery. I tried both with/out the battery. Fans don't even spin, just nothing. I can't try another RAM, the other one I got has a different plug-in. The power diode just beeps but nothing happens. Is there any way you could help out?

So, if my laptop is plugged in and I try holding down the power button for 30 seconds, it doesn't start up, but if I unplug the power cord (charger) and then press the button for 30 seconds, my laptop will turn on, but is slow to start up. This just started happening after almost a year of no problems. You're saying that we need to deenergize the internal components, which is understandable, but not sure why this would affect startup. This is the first laptop I've ever owned with this problem. My spouse has owned an Asus laptop for 5 years and his has never had this problem. It seems to me that either the charger, internal battery or internal power switching module is the culprit, but most likely in my case it's the charger.

@PC_Monkey I think I will get a new charger. The problem gets worse the longer the charger is plugged in, but it seems like there's something else going on, too, because now it takes several attempts pressing the power button to get the laptop to start up. I'm taking it in for repair and will see what they say.

Today I foolishly thought I could upgrade my ram and still be able to turn it on but nupeee. Any suggestions? If your power button itself it not working, it should be replaced. There are ways of 'jumping' many motherboards to turn it on without the power button but since there is a high risk of 'bricking' the motherboard if done incorrectly, I dont assist with that procedure here on my channel. Now my pc wont turn on without the charger and it constantly keeps 30% and turns off if unplugged, not ever moving from 30. When I checked my battery life, the last charge capacity was 32% of the design capacity. Did discharging cause this and why was it working fine before? edit: fixed typo

hello, i was charging my laptop using a low efficiency charger and managed to use it until the battery reached 0%, then i tried to do the normal way to turn off the computer: click on the button on the screen and then wait for it to shut down the system, but that's when the situation went bad, the 2 indicator lights for power stats hasn't been lightened after doing so even after charging it with original cable for at least 30 mins. By my guess the computer was forced to stop working before finishing the process it supposed to go through, is there any other key choices to force turning on the computer except for the power key (because it's also broken😢) ? btw the brand is Asus and sorry for some grammar mistakes🙏

This afternoon i tried turning it on but nothing, not even the power indicator lights and it seems to not be charging after i try to start it. I tried holding down the power button like in your video but still no success. I tried your method a few more times and i noticed that sometimes the indicator light would dimly blink once about 3 seconds after letting go of the power button after doing the long hold, but the computer still doesn't turn on. (i haven’t spent more than 10mins in a game due to quick overheating but within those 10mins the game ran fast with no issue) i never once had a problem with this laptop in all 5 years until now… and a speedy ramp up to 73°c in simple BIOS paired with a 774rpm cpu fan speed is so scary… only a week ago i could play games for hours without any issue ): sorry for overexplaining i’m just at a loss ): do you have any idea on what this could be or is it just a simple fan failure that can be replaced? thank you SO much for reading and creating this helpful content!!

@@daisy_duck96 I would go back in and make sure all connections are secure. Can you find a disassembly video that shows all the connections that need to be made so you can check them?

@@PC_MonkeyI was hesitating to unscrew the laptop, but shall try soon with appropriate screwdriver. Thanks much, good day! By the way nothing of the 3 things happened before this issue except new antivirus installation and it worked fine 2 weeks after this.

@@PC_MonkeyUnplugging battery, exchanging RAM slot positions and BIOs battery didn't help. Had to look out for a technician. I was lucky enough to find a genuine person who resolved it with some shouldering/shot gun etc. with nominal charges. Thanks for your support.

I had left my laptop on for an hour, the display had gone to sleep. I came back and after trying to wake it back up, I realized it wouldn’t turn on. My model is the Asus RoG GL503GE. I tried a hard reset but it didn’t work. No charging light comes on when I try to charge it.

1. You tried a hard reset? A factory reset on the operating system you mean? How did you try that if the computer would not turn on? Could you explain 'hard reset'? 2. Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here?

@@PC_Monkey Some other video called it a “hard reset,” and it was the same as the first solution in your video. I haven’t tried the other solutions because I have an internal battery

Could it be that the power adapter broke? My laptop can hardly go 40 minutes without being plugged in, so maybe it died when I left it on unattended for a while.

If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j6iYprl5zsrJd3k.html & kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftaRldmjs8fTlIk.html. You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.@@5nowman219

If it were the motherboard, what would be the estimated cost of getting it replaced?

1. Could your power button be malfunctioning? Can you unplug it or the keyboard if its a part of the keyboard, and then plug it back in to reset the connection? 2. Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here?
