Asus Vivobook 13 Slate OLED Is Now Actually Better?

Asus finally got back to us and we now have the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED in our hands once again, the retail unit! And the answer is... YES! Performance is now definitely much improved and much appreicated.
With that said, it still does have the same quirks and we would still love to see a display input option to make use of that fantastic OLED display. But more so than anything, if you're thinking of getting one, do make sure that you know what you want and that this is something that'll be able to fit that niche.
Make sure you do your research.

This device suits me perfectly. I am a writer, and have a beefed-up desktop with 3060ti. That one is set for my daily use. But I use this for my mobility. Whenever i am not in city, or on the move, or just bored of sitting on desktop, i am able to complete my work without any issues. It's a bit slower but does the work just fine. A huge plus for me is my 5 years old daughter can use it as a tablet and doing that she has learned Windows os.

THank you for making this update video. I bought an 8GB / 256SSD model and received it yesterday. I was nervous because of there being so many bad reviews. Mine works fine. I tested on Cinebench R23 and the results were 2,032 for multi, and 689 for single core. So far, I'm really happy with it. Thanks. It really seems crazy that ASUS sent out such bad units to reviewers. What a blunder. I do wish, for longevity purposes, this had a better processor and more RAM, but for the money, comparing to other similar options, this is still a decent deal.

After using my 8GB version for a couple months now, I will note two things: - Speed wise, it is fine. It's as fast as you'd hope with these specs. For things like opening simple programs, loading webpages, etc, it is fast. - I have a potentially serious related to the power button. When the computer power is off, or it is in sleep mode, if I press the power button, often it won't respond. Generally, if I take the plastic/magnet stand off of the back of the tablet and then press the power button, it does come on normally. Though every now and then (maybe 1/50 times, particularly when the power is all the way off) even if I take the stand away and press the power button, nothing seems to happen. I can press it 50 times and nothing. Usually if I try again 5 or 10 minutes later, it works. This is a really annoying issue since the symptom is the same as if the computer is totally bricked. I wonder if I should contact ASUS for a warranty exchange. And I wonder if there are any alternative methods to trigger the power button (certain keys on the keyboard)

Awesome review as always, the real question is... can it run runescape? also does this have somekind of pass through mode for using this as a second display for a laptop? I think the second device argument is pretty valid, I would also look into getting linux on it but that would make the other features useless.

My use case for this tablet is browsing the web. Not going to play games. No photoshop. However, it seems it is still very slow to load a web page even after all the updates and "best performance" option . See 5:27. That totally killed it for me. What a shame. I can only think that the problem lies with the CPU, since the test unit has 8GB RAM and runs on a SSD. Thanks for the review.

I am using the asus vivobook 13 slate 8gb version. My product has some major drawbacks, but the screen does not turn on and does not respond when the cover is closed and opened. For example, when I press the keyboard, touch the screen, press the power button, press the volume button, etc. I tried many other things, but nothing worked. I tried various solutions on the internet but couldn't solve it. So I want to ask you one thing. I would like to ask if the screen works normally when the cover is closed and opened Please give me an answer after testing.

This was a thoughtful review, thanks. Another reviewer remarked that text looked blurry on the screen. Since I'd use this device to draft and edit MS Word docs, should I avoid it for that reason? What is your experience in viewing text on the device's OLED screen? Thanks again.
@Terafied
@Terafied 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Honestly text looked great for a 1080p screen. It might fall short in comparison to an iPad or even a Surface, but 1080p is still plenty great. But if it is or great concern, best would to try it out at a retail store if at all possible.
@JumpingWatermelons
@JumpingWatermelons 2 жыл бұрын
I'll chime in. I'd say the text is a bit blurry on mine too. It's not horrible, but it's not as good as some higher DPI screens. Whether it'd be a problem would depend on how picky you are

Hi. Thanks for a heartfelt review. Really really appreciated. Would you please define what you mean by heavy-duty tasks? Also, I plan on getting this device mainly for reading documents like Pdfs', using Microsoft Office products and the occasional Netflix binge watching. Do you think this device is up to the task aforementioned? Thanks so much. Really looking forward to your expert feedback.
@Terafied
@Terafied 2 жыл бұрын
Heavy-duty tasks would be things like multi-tasking with multiple apps/tabs open including intensive ones like say, Lightroom. In general, as along as you're keeping to just using Microsoft Office and stuff, you should be fine. Just don't juggle too many at once. Same goes for Netflix and such, just have Netflix open only, and you should be relatively fine. Overall, it's still going to be a good device for such tasks. Just don't expect the fluidity of something like an iPad and you'll be fine.

ASUS, just stop putting OLED in your products. I saw with my own eyes ASUS Vivobook OLED, and it was terrible, It Was Terrible... IT WAS TERRIBLE. Black text on white looks like sh*, white text on black looks like sh*. Every edged picture look like that... Damn that day when someone decided to put OLED in laptops.

@@JOHNLEXXX Well, good for you. If I see sh*t a call it sh*t, no more, no less. If some people can not see bad things, not my problem.

@@tellurian2229 Before I bought my laptop, I read many reviews and videos on oled screen. all said it's the best and I agree. Even most of the phones are now using oled, so I assume you look at lower quality oled screen???

@@JOHNLEXXX As I said before, I had my own experience with ASUS VivoBook Pro 15 OLED. I must agree with you, it has low quality OLED screen.
