Reviewing Asus' Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (2023) laptop, specifically the UX8402 with Intel's 13th Gen Core i9 and RTX 4050 GPU. With its slick dual display design and beefy performance, is the Asus Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED the best notebook for editing and creative tasks?
It's certainly powerful enough to cope with any apps and even some pretty heavy gaming, running the likes of Returnal with a smooth frame rate. Asus' cooling tech keeps the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo 2023 from overheating under pressure, while the battery life is also decent considering the double displays.
That main screen is a 14.5-inch OLED panel, which can faithfully reproduce colours and pump out eye pleasing HDR visuals. Underneath is a smaller 12.7-inch IPS screen with anti-glare coating. The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo laptop can run multiple apps on both displays, with smart shortcuts.
You also have some pretty good speakers, a Full HD camera, two Thunderbolt ports and up to 2TB SSD storage. Overall, some solid specs, although the Asus Zenbook Pro 14 Duo 2023 will cost you the best part of £2000 in the UK.

This laptop has been great as I am a student. I can throw reference material down on the second screen and type my papers on the main display. I've had it for 6 months and I love it.

Thanks for sharing, I'm split between Macbook Pro and either Asus Zenbook or Dell Yoga etc. Macbook us just so basic and boring compared to Windows laptop. It's alot of money for Witherspoon choice, but which is better i have absolute no clue 😅

The newer version of the Zenbook dual screen is way cheaper than the one I have. I would watch his review on the newer model Zenbook as I feel it's a step above the one I have and it has all the latest specs at only 1500 to 1700 dollars compared to 2300+ dollars for the 2023 model. I absolutely love the model I have but I understand it's crazy expensive for anybody.@@marthinlarsen1473

@@marthinlarsen1473 I believe the new version is out for preorder. If it's not available till they get more in stock I'd wait to purchase that new model. It's way cheaper than the model I have and it has the latest Intel ultra processors/specs.

I have this computer. I bought it about 2 years ago. I am in love with this computer! One of my favorite features is the touch pad to the right. I have a mouse that I can attach via blue tooth that I don't use! It is so quick and easy to move my right hand from the keyboard to the right touch pad and back. Mostly, I think that we are accustom to using our right hand to access the mouse on the right side already so having the pad on the right fits easy into my brain as auto pilot takes over. I recognize that this vlogger here doesn't like the keyboard with touch pad on the right but he is wrong on this! I am a huge fan of the configuration!

Love touch pad location. I never liked it in the middle like my poor old lenovo from 2017. Duel screen seems to be well thought out too.

I'm a lefty. Maybe it's the novelty cause I got it today however so far I'm finding use of the keyboard a fairly smooth experience, and way easier to use than many other laptops I've had. Pretty sure I would find it more confusing if the pad was to the left. So far I can't fault it! It's awesome!

@@anam4484 you can turn it off. it really is handy especially when you are in an online assistance call waiting list as you can park it in the bottom without getting cut off and get on with other things in the top screen but yes you can turn it off and just have one going

Returned mine. Wasn't getting more than 3 hours of battery just using multiple chrome windows etc. Significant color mismatch between the two displays as well. I didn't mind the keyboard but the usage of the second screen wasn't much even when multitasking.

Can't go wrong with either honestly but the rog is def larger an it has stuff built in for programming. I don't know about this zenbook but I just duo an It has stuff specifically installed for programming like instant access to git an dropping code there. I will say the zenbook is going to be smaller so easy to carry around compared to the rog which I realized it's pretty large

Please say something about the "screen door" effect on the display. There is a fine mesh on the screen so all the bright surface will be noisy... I just bought this laptop and I have to take it back immediately! It's totally useless for any kind of graphics work...😢 Nice colors but all the icons, and small details looks like an old GIF image.. 😢

@@alvinamana1459 Why wouldn't they? There's basically no good reason not to. It would cost hardly anything (compared to the rest of the laptop) and it doesn't get in the way. And obviously people that like using track points would very much appreciate it. Also it makes even more sense on a laptop like this that has its track pad in an awkward position.

@@hamesparde9888 actually It would cost a lot they for one have never built tech to work around that you don't just throw it on top an expect it to work it has to be integrated which again Lenovo does an only Lenovo does. Dell did at one point over a decade ago but literally only Lenovo does it an why would it? It's small as hell an not the most convenient thing an most people don't want it. I used it before an it hurts the hell out of your fingers for extended use so it's not even worth literally changing the entire build to add that inside

Also it wouldn't be cheap it's not just adding to one laptop that a whole line of laptops they have to replace an if you ever used one they would suck at moving between two screens they barely good for one screen. An to stop production to remake these laptops that they don't even make anymore to add one track point is stupid an a waste of money lol. If they add it they would have to add it with a whole line of other new stuff only apple will waste money to add one feature an produce useless products

A very niche product that likely sells in low volumes. Plenty of last-gen is available, and ASUS are offering massive discounts to eliminate unwanted stock, £600 off in the UK. Not for me, as typing is my de facto usage, and I would be throwing this against the wall with the awkward keyboard and trackpad. Sometimes even if you can do something like this, it doesn't mean you should, and I feel this device falls into that category.

Seems like an OK competitor to the MacBook in terms of productivity and support for tasks like video editing/drawing. Comparing both 2500$ models of the most recent MacBook and this, it’d be hard for me to recommend anyone go with Apple on that front, and that’s a plus for ASUS.

@@JJroks543 Yes, in the US you get some great deals due to ASUS having to be competitive. In the UK the ASUS is more expensive with a lesser GPU (£3500), so as you can imagine paying that sort of money for an ASUS is a tough sell.

No second usb is a deal breaker for me. I like my keyboard and my mouse to run on my usb ports. I guess its not the end of the world to use bluetooth for mouse or keyboard instead and just use the 1 but i do wish it had just 1 more usb port. 2 lightnight ports is legit though.

A more rugged laptop like the thinkpad series should be suitable as fragile laptops like the duo are prone to self destruction if something like a wire is stuck between the screen and base by accident like a wire when closing.
