how fast is your fixed internet from your provider? ... I need advice on how to setup this router please... From where I am, my ISP provide us with the modem/router which is using fiber and unfortunately, there's no bridge mode (modem mode) function available yet. what is the best option for me? 1)Disable ISP router Wi-fi and use a XT12 router as Access point? 2)Disable ISP router Wi-fi and use a XT12 router as Router? 3)Keep my ISP router Wi-fi ON and add a XT12 router with the same Wifi name/password as Access point? PLEASE HELP ME !!! SOMEONE T_T

500Mbps from my internet service provider, if I am the one to set it up, first disable wifi of the modem outer, setup 1st xt12 as main aimesh router, and the second one as an aimesh node, it will have dual nat, but not a major issue for me (mostly affects console gaming for multiplayer), and that is my actual setup now..

Will there be a significant improvement and boost with this XT12 compared with the Asus XT8?

Hi Arn, with my honest opinion they perform the same with connected devices as of now, the good about having the XT12 is the larger data rate on the 5ghz network, but unfortunately i have not seen any wifi card that is capable of 4Gbps data rate, until then it is still okay to have the xt8, but if you don't have any of the two, i would recommend the xt12, so when the times come that mobile devices and wifi card are capable of 4Gbps, you don't need to upgrade anymore.

@@JKChavez Hi JK, thanks for the reply, very helpful. The only major negative to the XT12 is the cost; for its price it looks like I can already get two sets of the 2-pack XT8s. Based on my current experience with Netgear Orbi RBK53, it looks like I would need 4 nodes of the AiMesh to make sure the rooms farthest from the router get fast enough wifi, because of all the thick concrete walls. @@ajss81 ; Or perhaps go up a step to the newer version of the XT8, the "XT9." That will allow you up to 160 MHz channel bandwidth operation on both the 5 GHz-1and -2 WiFi bands like the XT12 does. .... XT8 only allows up to 80 MHz max. ch. bandwidth on the 5 GHz-1 band.

@stereoturk7986 ; But only on the higher 5 GHz-2 band for the XT8. The lower 5 GHz-1 band is always limited to 80 MHz max. whether you use wired backhaul or not. The XT9 however, has the option of 160 MHz max. bandwidth on both bands like the XT12 ....

Hi, i have not tested the limit yet, as per ASUS up to 10 nodes max, while in my current setup im running 4 aimesh nodes without any issues.

Yes. I've read reviews in Amazon saying they've paired the XT12 with XT8 to great results. If you do, it's recommended to switch from the XT8 and use one of the XT12s (since it's newer and faster) as the primary router instead.

Yes, the good thing about asus wifi routers is their mesh is compatible with every aimesh wifi router, regardless if it is zen, rog, tuf or rt series.. :) and Arn is correct, always use the most powerful one as the main aimesh router.. :)
