My favourite tamiya 4WD chassis

I keep hoping they will do the Thundershot re-re. I missed it previously.

I have all four I started with thundershot, thunderdragon with bluegrove bodyshell a re-release tera scorcher and fire dragon three of them are original with mechanical speed controlers they are a joy to build and still look good and stood the test of time compared to some cars that have come and gone

the body was the first thing that caught my eye with this. bought the 2021 version, got it 6 months ago but havent started the build as i was working to build 2 others.

I love the Thunder Dragon. I built mine this year with a with a few upgrades and its held up great. Its real fun on desert terrain

I agree, I think the thunder shot series is one of the best vintage Tamiya's. Looking forward to seeing this build and maybe seeing it put through it's paces on the track??? ;)

A very thorough history. I have never figured out why Tamiya makes so many cars that are similar, older technology and still ask a high price. I guess it's because people buy them.

Jeeeah i am from AUSTRIA (you know, the Mozart thing, not the kangaroos *g*) and i have mine since may. It was my first Tamiya car in 1989(?) and i still love it. just update the dogbones to cvd drive shafts from the terra scorcher to stop rubbing while steering and of course the a5 from xs

No1 is the terra scorcher for me followed by the thunder shot on this chassis👍 all the others don't really float my boat 🤷‍♂️

My mate had one of these in early 90s, he painted it fluorescent pink I was, so jealous I had a shit yellow monster truck from tandy

That's why I'm not so keen on tamiya they do nice looking cars but most of the parts in the kit are of a hard brittle plastic the cars themselves look awesome I just wish they would put more effort into the chassis like every rc should come with bearings and oil dampening I know you can get them all as optional parts but I would rather pay a bit extra and have them come with the kit, awesome video though on your part mate just wish tamiya would put as much effort in performance as they do in there looks because there is no denying the do some wicked body's but that's as far as it goes

You need to take a link off the 6 o'clock side and move it onto the 12 o'clock side for a proper fit.

I wonder. A bit of a random question. Would the Hotshot rear tyres (the ones with the lozenge or oval shaped lugs) fit the Thunder dragon wheels? I know I'd need four of them if they do fit ;)

Hi Gav. For me Christmas 1989 was spent building my first Tamiya, a Thundershot, so super interested in this. I’m assuming that there are no bearings included? Other than the ESC is anything else modified from the original?

Mine is still on back order along with my top force which I ordered from hobby town USA. So frustrating.

If you put a vintage kit together!?. Heat olive oil to about 190 f. Put plastic in it for about a hour. Turn off . Allow to cool to room temperature. Remove and air dry on Paper towels with a Wipe. You will thank me later. That was typed weird on purpose so you will reread twice. It's that simple if you want to have something nice that is 30 yrs Oldn

why would you sell of the vintage?

Distribution really got screwed up by the hosing last year; it hasn’t improved and prices will continue to rise going forward.
