A few years ago my wife and I raised two baby blue jays that my daughter who is a veterinarian student brought home. Unbelievable time raising them. As they got started to fly around the house we had to put them outside. I used to whistle to them in a certain way as they grew up. As they flew about the yard I would whistle that certain way, I would hold out my arm and they would land on it. You can image how much joy that interaction with them brought to me. It's not often one can have a wild bird land on your arm.

My uncle was in a 32 foot trailer when he wanted to make coffee on the propane stove and when he lit it the whole trailer blew up from a build up of propane around the stove area just before he lit it. He was scarred horrible and had the worst 3rd degree burns but gladly made it. A tiny crack open in the window helps, he learned. I love your videos dearly and miss you talking to us in your videos like this. You are extremely talented. It's so ironic how the people you like the most live so far away. You would make a great friend. I'm just thankful we get to see your videos and your wonderful land. You better heal fast dang it, so we can see you more often. One of my other favorite videos of yours is your garden tour you did for starlight. It's so beautiful in your garden! Thank you for the wonderful videos you make for us Dale!

Many years ago I built a small cabin on some land my Father owned in Michigan.I would go there in winter with my dog Sandy.The woods in winter are peaceful and quiet.Nothing more restful then making your meal,having time in a warm cozy cabin with a faithful old pup at your side .I am 81years,young and your stories take me back there. THANK YOU SIR.

I live in Michigan's upper peninsula, and have been watching your videos for several years with a friend of mine , he has been blind since birth. and he along with me has always took interest in these types of settings . Outdoor buildings ,places to warm up while snowshoeing, or just to hang out in a snowstorm . Always a great channel. We will be checking the videos out in the future.

I love your cabin and like you would love being in it during the winter while is was snowing. I would bring along a porta potty that I have used on my 20 foot boat. It has a tank at the bottom that pulls out for dumping and the top has a lid and seat that looks just like your toilet in a house. It has a water tank in it for flushing so there is no smell. It does not weigh much so it is easy to handle. I love the scenery around your cabin when it snows and would likely just sit and watch the wildlife come and enjoy the seed. I love your vids so please keep them coming. Thanks for sharing.

I lived in a small camper for awhile and heated it with a Coleman lantern always with the window opened a crack and the roof vent opened a bit. I always shut the lantern off when going to bed. Your videos are great! Nice and relaxing. Gord, Vancouver

Thanks for answering the questions. I've been a subscriber for a few months...maybe a year. I too was puzzled why you'd want to have a cabin on your own property... but hey, why not. You DO have a nice voice and cadence. I never commented about it and yes, I could easily see you narrating a nature program. It reminds me very much of Ed Herlihy, the voice of Kraft Foods here in the US back in the late 195Os and early 1960s. You missed your calling. Lol I enjoy your garden videos too. Also the ones with Angel. :-)

Thought that was so cool lol love your little adorable cabin! Reminds me of a story where a lady always wanted a little red wagon as a child but her family was to poor. As a adult she bought her wagon and everyone thought what a foolish thing to do. Until they saw her using it for yard work and hauling her groceries from the car etc.

The cabin videos are my favorite. Already thinking about having one when I retire (not for a long time). Although, I would have to go with prebuilt; worst case scenario, camping out in the garage, lol.

It appears that folks are interested in building cabins as places of refuge or just getting away from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life. Finland has a great tradition of living at summerhouses near a lake. They say the Finns only recently came out of the forest and at every opportunity they go back in. I think John Muir said it best - Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

Love watching and listening...I have to agree with others that you have a great voice. So glad to know that it is one strike and you're out for the trolls. Let me just start out by saying: I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! I find them very charming and very informative too. I'm one of these people who couldn't grow a blade of grass if my life depended on it. Yet, your growing tips have allowed me to actually have potted herbs in my window sill! I love basil so I have lots now, thanks to you....as well as those tasty dishes you've made. I tried the biscuits and the breads and a few other things too. I love to cook! I'm so sorry to hear about you health issues too. And I must say that the jotul stove was a wise investment. My home is 450 square feet and I heat my home all winter with wood and my jotul stove with the baffle add on keeps my home toasty with minimal fuel. I can put 4 logs in at night and won't have to add more wood for 12 hours. Thank you dale for your reference to jotul.
