Kevin, I've been in the ATC business since 1982. The FAA is well known to be WAY BEHIND with equipment. WAY BEHIND & frankly inefficient. I'm at HQ and do not hesitate to gripe about it every single time.

A flight director, hsi, tablet, map gps…that’s a lot of stuff for a normally aspirated 182. I sold 50 new t182’s from 97-01. All they had was a KLN-94, 2 VOR and a gyro. You’ve amassed some serious avionics. Wow!

@kevinlindheim4585 I was just talking to my buddy who is a retired TRACON controller the other day about the differences between center and TRACON. I was asking him also if controllers are using ADSB data yet. Funny, I was on my way to florida and a controller from Savanah approach called my tail number. I was not on flight following or an IFR flight plan. I was just monitoring the closest approach to my position. Anyways, when he called me, I was like, "Oh man, what did I do and how does he know I on this frequency?". Turns out, even though I wasn't in the system, he was just looking out for me and called my traffic. Pretty cool

BEAUTIFUL old Skylane! LOVE them straight-tail, classic Cessnas! Great color combo accented with the polished metal..is she a '58, by any chance? My late-uncle Martin had a '58 182, that he wanted to sell me, back in the early '80s. I don't even want to say what price he would have let me have it for (and it was SPOTLESS) but I was a broke, grocery-checker, with a new baby..just couldn't swing it! UGH!

It’s mostly so you don’t prop-blast the plane behind you. Loose things on the taxiway (eg. pebbles, sticks, etc.) can be blown into the plane behind you. More of a courtesy thing than a safety thing. But yes, if your brakes don’t hold/fail, you won’t hit the plane in front of you.
