The person behind this clay animation was also the creative mind behind Jason & The Argonauts and Clash Of The Titans.

Also I guess because they're kids but how is a bunch of candy a good lure for the witch? They're starving lol, they probably want meat or bread. Lol Dave pointed that out after I posted this.

Alright, all surrealistic horror aside, technically this film is amazing. Harryhausen was just an undeniably tremendous artist and craftsman. The fluidity of the animation is crazy and the facial emoting is really fantastic for it's simplicity. Love the set design, as well. I mean, I'm pretty biased, I love stop-motion but if you can't recognize or appreciate the film for it's technical merit.. you have my sympathy.

Dropping the bread on the ground and search for berries is just so fucking stupid. In the original tale, the father finds a new wife, but she doesn't like the children and persuades the father to abandon them in the forest. So he gives them some bread to eat and they use it to mark their way back home

This is really funny but try keeping the camera's focus on the cartoon itself instead of jumping back to Dave and Gareth every 5 seconds. We know who they are, the jump cuts are jarring and weird. Let us absorb the creepiness of the source material.
