Instead of bow and accessory reviews I'd like to see Josh do videos on difficult to tune bows. Like when a bow doesn't want to easily tune with the basics. Or Frankenstein builds to make a custom bow when the market doesn't quite offer what you'd like to have

I just wished i could order from Josh his site (from EU region) but i understand it's very hard regarding the logistics of it. Maybe in the future ;)

Hey guys you’re doing a great job.I watched Josh’s bow winner build prior to this. On the subject of teaching people to become more familiar and comfortable with their equipment, if local shops spent a fraction of the time with customers the way you did with Wendell I believe things would be a whole lot better being someone relatively new to archery. Anyway thank you guys, I’ve learned a ton while trying to diy & piece things together.

It was an awesome experience. The knowledge I got from Josh within a short amount of time was tremendous and is something I will never forget. I’m relatively new to the archery/bowhunting scene and the most I’ve ever done prior was wax up my strings and minor things that doesn’t involve a bow press. And now I have the confidence to get myself a press and work on my own bow when needed.

These have become one of my favorite discussion podcasts out there. Honesty goes a long way. I hope Athens holds up, I love their bows and it’s nice to have a smaller company hanging with the big boys. I shoot a heavier arrow at a low draw length so the speed difference isn’t as drastic as if I was a long draw. They can shake up the landscape a bit. True review, if you want a speed bow it’s not your bag, but a smooth draw types have a new contender.

To add to your comment about wanting the Athens and Bowtech tunability to be available for all brands because it will attract more people to the sport, the biggest problem for someone like me here in Namibia, is that my closest proshop is almost 900 miles away and in a different country. So tuning and working on the equipment is a real challenge, I can’t quickly jump in my car and drive to a proshop when I have a hiccup on my bow, hence the Athens and Bowtechs out there are a real attraction.

Bow hunting does exist in Europe, granted it's not Many countries that allow it but here in Denmark it is and Sweden, Germany, Poland and Norway have had talks about allowing it. Ps love what you're doing Josh, you're influence has pushed me to work on my own bows so much respect and appreciation from waaay across the pond

Since the days in the 1990’s when I shot archery competitively, the pro shop I represented made each shooter build arrows and maintain/set up customer bows. Since then, I do everything myself, and appreciate having learned. While technology has evolved, so have my skills to stay relevant. I have had the opportunity and privilege to hand down what I have learned from others and by “doing”, which in a small way has progressed the sport. I thank those that took the time to invest in me as far back as the 1970’s as a new archery hunter, and feel obligated to invest in others. Pay it forward to grow the sport!

The bow yoda brought up some amazing points! I keep saying the same thing about fighting amongst each other. The disrespect on the hunting fb pages is ridiculous. Our future generations won’t have this sport because there are people fighting to take it away everyday and instead of sticking together people are inflating their egos by putting others down. I love this channel more and more every time I listen to it!

Great episode. Watched while eating lunch. A lot of great insights and take aways. Definitely curious to see more critical reviews of mid level and budget bows. $550-600 is about the max I can ever spend on a bow for budgetary reasons and high quality reviews of cheaper quality bows are hard to find. Great points about hunters needing to stick together and not fight each other. Keep this up.

I purchased a Bowtech Solution a couple years ago but only after shooting the Athens Vista 33. I like the feel of the Vista more than the Solution but what put me over the edge was the DeadLock. I tuned my bow in record time and without spending any money. In the end, I have enjoyed my BT Solution. Im not in the market this year for another bow but, next year...... My goals for this year is to practice more, Tac shooting and shooting from in the tree in my saddle. I missed an opportunity because I couldnt figure out the proper way to shoot a buck while in a rather odd position. After the buck walked off, I finally figured it out. but need to spend more time practicing from those positions. Great video, I watch them (listen to them) while working. Its nice to be able to stop them and come back later, but always get through them and learn.

Commented on Tim's solo video...I actually picked up a lift 33 yesterday at my bow shop. Shot it versus the 2 bowtechs and the Alpha X 33. The lift and the core ss were the final 2 for me. The low weight of the Mathews just felt so good to me I couldn't pass it up. The shop had a handful of lift 33s in solid colors (which I prefer) so I left happy...but with a big hole in my pocket. 😀💸💸

I couldn't agree with you more about the shop owners and embracing it. My shop owners are Tim and Jason down at ultimate outdoors here in PA plumb PA and you know at first they did a lot for me but as I learned more and everything I start doing it all myself except for I don't have a bow press. I use one at my local archery club that belong to but I just take it to them a lot if it's something that needs pressed cuz I don't know everything yet. I'm still learning but they definitely seem to embrace me and teach me a lot of stuff too. So I'm very thankful for them but I just hope more people do catch on to it. Like you say it got me a lot deeper into the archery game and my knowledge definitely went up. Especially thanks to you

Love the idea of reviewing mid tier bows, I really enjoy the flagship reviews, flagship developments trickle down to mid tiers eventually. Unfortunately the budget doesn't always allow for the purchase and outfitting of a flagship bow. I would really love to see reviews of mid tier bows, any limitations and what boundaries can be pushed with them.

The lift is way more dead than the axxis and those numbers in your review didn’t reflect that from that vibration thingy. So no doubt your yoda skills were on point. Looking forward to the updates. I feel like a lot of the problem with the people that are complaining about hunting pressure is that they're not willing to put in the work. The work includes not having a spot having many spots researching new spots I live in Michigan I've been to Colorado three times for hunting. My first time in Colorado I shot a 5x6 bowl with a rifle over the counter unit My next time in Colorado I shot 160-in mule deer over the counter and then my last time in Colorado I shot a archery elk cow 1 to 0 point draw unit. I worked hard to prepare I E-Scouted I researched everything I could find along with listen to people I trusted in the industry I put in the work That is why I was successful. Harvard days off nothing is easy Stop bitching Work harder. rant done Good luck everyone Let's unite and keep this sport going.

My complaints come from draw hunts I could get every other year a while back are now 5 years and counting to get in. If I get into a place I generally have solid success, but I don’t get to hunt places I once hunted significantly more. I’m trying to find more OTC opportunities, but in Texas it’s far between every place.

@@huntsimple9527 For me it is 363 Days a year I am doing some sort of planning Christmas Eve and Christmas are the two days that I'm not doing any kind of hunt planning. Sometimes it says simple as listening to a podcast to get some more information on hunt draws. I'm always shooting my bow because I'm mainly an archery hunter. And along with that I'm planning 2 years out from now as I'm continuing to plan this year. There's always something you can be doing to prepare.

@@gavinatkins2671 Get on Go Hunt listen to podcasts Listen to Randy Newman about not being a point collector. Basically collecting points for a few years out on a future hunt is fine but always have something you can plan for that year There are several 0 to 1 draw units currently plus OTC currently. Not to mention it depends on what species you are hunting Whitetail several states are just over the counter tags. The main thing is use the resources that are out there Don't put all your eggs in one basket when planning and plan for the future. That includes financially, physically, with your job and with your family.
@huntsimple9527
@huntsimple9527 6 ай бұрын
I appreciate you sharing this and I appreciate your passion for the outdoors. I would just ask that you keep in mind that not every person who hunts can dedicate that amount of time. That does not mean they are not passionate about hunting, it just means they have other time commitments, as I am sure you do. Your original post said that those complaining about how popular western big game hunting has become are not willing to put in the work. I don't think this is the case. I think "amount of work" someone is willing to put in is subjective to many things and not one size fits all and not all perspectives are equal. I have lived in the Rocky Mountains all 54 years of my life. The reality is Western hunting has changed exponentially in the past 15 years, maybe more. I have been hunting 43 years and even with hard work, hunting is now much more difficult than it used to be. Maybe that is OK. But it is just different and that is not due to lack of work. 20 years ago hard work amounted to filling 3 tags on public land. Now, the same or more hard work and I am lucky to fill one tag on public land. That is not because I forgot how to hunt or how to work hard, that is because there is way more pressure on the animals. It is all about perspective and I respect your perspective. @@chasesomethingoutdoors5081
