ATL: Shocktober & the Stricken Phenom

Saturday, 10/17 - Monday 10/19/2020:
You might be asking yourselves, what's so shocking about October that would lead him to combine the words "Shock" & "October" in this video title? Well, let me tell you there's a damn good reason! Several as a matter of fact! Primary among them being the fact "shock" & "October" fit together perfectly and I always try to come up with creative video titles. But there's more! An ABX retrojet, 2 inboard landings, some outfit called Astral Aviation operating a 747-400BCF, a pair of Qatari 777s flying out of Nagoya & the wacky aftermath of a Phenom emergency landing. Is that shocking enough for you? Well it is for me! So how about you push play & gimme your viewership. I'm sure you'll find that this truly is "Shocktober".

That DC9 pulled the oldest trick in the book. Push the departure back 5 mins at a time until its a solid 1-2 hours late.

Its always Ameristar too. Had them at my home airport for the first time in multiple years and they did that until they were 2 hours late.

As to the Qatari 777s 'mysterious' NGO-ATL-DOH rotation; they are just cargo charters. Like EK, QR are using B77Ws for ad-hoc cargo charters around the world. They put smaller packages in the cabin (on pax seats and in the overhead lockers) and fill the underbelly with pallets. Nothing mysterious at all. That's also why they park on the cargo ramp...

Those shots of planes coming "out of the trees" were killer... That Magma 747 lifting off was priceless. All that screaming power then the graceful uplift of the wings as she rotated up and out. Don't give a crap what anyone says they are beautiful aircraft.

Anyone with any idea what they're doing with that MD88 without engines or nose cone? I know they're all retired, but that bird is never flying again.....doesn't make sense to rip off the engines if you're going to put them back on to ferry it out.... and so they're doing a full scrap at ATL? They do that there?

ATC was asking the pilot how they know the back of the plane is across the hold short line when clearing a runway. He said just experience and that some planes have cameras on the back, but not him.
