ATL: The Day of Days - Hitting the Heavy Jet Cargo Jackpot

Sunday, 11/3/2013 - An Operation that was intended to be the weekends last early AM quest for exotic cargo heavies/other sites worth-a-marvel. Having failed in previous attempts, morale was not high. But coordination w/Spotter Scout Michael Digiorno allowed us to develop & execute a strategy that was successful beyond our wildest dreams. Air Traffic Control, Flight Delays Abroad, and the end of Daylight Savings time also contributed to this victory. But me & Michael did most of it.

good stuff. 747's everywhere. I remember when there were so many more 747 passenger planes, delta, TWA, pan American when I was spotting at kennedy way back when. you always do your best. thank you matt for your hard work happy thoughts matt

I LOVED this video, classic Magic Matt Madness!!! Awesome from the DC-9 alarm clock on. I guess you hit the heavy cargo jackpot!!! Fantastic with the KLM A380 and the mad scramble to get the 747-800 BA World Cargo landing. You are my aviation entertainment hero!!!

Superlike for the 380. um, and then.... BRITISH AIRWAYS CARGO BOEING 747-8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been trying to get it at ORD forever. Never has worked out though. Happy i can watch it here!!

6 747's gosh you might be used to them by now. 2 of them were 747-800 and a Korean air A380. Ive also seen A310's at knoxville before because I visit there every 4 months. I love that BA livery and that cathay livery. One of your best videos ever!!!!!

MAGNIFICENT video Matt!!! Definitely one of your best videos yet!! So many amazing catches!!! Really loved the KAL A380 and then umm...the freaking SPEEDBIRD WORLD CARGO BOEING 748!!!!!!! WOW!!! That was a great shot!! It stinks that the air traffic controllers made the 748 land on the other runway at the last second. :( I also loved the Spirit A320 new livery party!! And then that FedEx A310 was just beautiful!!! Great rare catch!!! I think you know I liked it a lot!!!

That A310F was awesome! A rare jet nowadays! Delta had a couple of them I think. They had em in the widget livery! That American A319 with sharklets was also awesome too. And of course that 787-8 was a rly cool highlight! Great video Matt

Wow Matt!!! Super impressive video! All those 747s were FANTASTIC! The 748 is not composite by the way, the fuselage is mainly aluminium just like the 777 etc. I was spotting on the weekend and waiting for a Philippines A340 to depart, and I moved spots thinking it would go off 27 but then the sent it off 16 - the first aircraft to do that for the day - similar to what happened with that BA 748.

What a jackpot that was Matt! If you happen to be spotting today, I am flying through ATL today. Airtran 933 inbound from Boston, and AirTran 1200 bound for TPA. They're early to late evening flights.

Awesome 380 overhead and AA 319!!!!! I hade a epic day at PDX today, F15s, F-16s a hawkeye and an unpainted 773. Sadly I was driving so I could not get the F-16s :(

Matt you should do a Delta TOC 'patients lined up to see the doc' (identifying the regs) ..but everything has to be there, from 744 on down'..and someone tries to cut the line!

What a day Matt. What a day. Today we focused on the 747 and cargo jets. Is it just me or does the cargo 748 seem much longer than the pax version? You made a valiant effort trying to catch British Airways. I think ATC owes you a favor. That colgate plane N501MJ, is one I have seen myself on several occasions.

chadnga8 Thanks Chad!! Digiorno doesn't shoot video so you won't find any vids on his channel. I think you can look him up under "Michael DeAntonio" though. He's an instagram guy. I have no idea what his username is on instagram as I don't mess around with that. But maybe his channel will have a link to it.

In my airport we got only A330 A320 B737 and B757 and MD11 but one day we got a surprise a B747 of Pullamntur Airways was a private flight from Madrid to San Juan Puerto Rico not in Mexico
