In this interview, James Charles King relates his experiences in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He recalls his childhood and early education. He describes his college career and entry into the Army as well as his basic training. His unit was in training while the movie “The Green Berets” was being filmed at Fort Benning. He gives his first impressions upon landing in Vietnam, including the sight of coffins and body bags being loaded onto a C-141 Starlifter. He details his duties and experiences in country. He recalls experiences he had with protesters upon returning home. He describes his post-war education, career and family.

Thoroughly enjoyed the grace and slices of humour Mr. King intertwined in the telling of his life and times as a soldier. Dignity and integrity abound sir, you certainly have both. Great interview all around via Mr. Hillier

Welcome Home and Thank You For Serving. I would have been honored to trade seats with that lady and sit with you on that plane. My Dad was in 1st Cavalry in Vietnam. You may have served with him, I don't know.

I would have flipped him a quarter and told him to call somebody that cared what he thought. Then I would have told him if he was a preacher then the woods were full of them
