Our sail across the Atlantic Ocean was a little scarier than expected. We were on the home straight, everything was going smooth and then it happened..... We spotted a single handed French sailor LOST AT SEA. Having being stranded at sea for 3 weeks and dismasted for 3 days with no engine, we spotted his dismasted yacht being thrown around by the fierce swell of the Atlantic.
After countless times of trying to summon the help of the coastguard from various Caribbean islands, each time we got a refusal of help. We knew it was up to us to get the lost sailor to safety. That was the only thought in all of our minds as we battled through 6 meter seas with 40+ knot winds. "If this was in the UK the RNLI would have been here - a sentence we would constantly say to each-other"
After a sleepless night, we all battled against the odds to rescue this stranded sailor.
Whoever says that catamarans are not a "seaworthy" "blue-water" sailing vessel needs to watch the video. Coco our Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 done everything we would expect from a seaworthy blue-water sailing boat.
We are happy everyone is safe. At the end of the day, we are all in this community together, and without each-other, where would we be?
Thank you ALL for watching our last two videos, we are blown away by the amount of views and supportive comments we have received. We never expected so many people to be invested in the rescue story of the stranded sailor we found on our Atlantic crossing. We have received a lot of questions which may have not been clear in the last two videos so we thought we would do a recap on the situation and what we could have done differently if we were ever to find someone stranded again in the middle of the Atlantic 🙈 hopefully not!!
Thank you soo much for all your tips on how we could have done things better if there is a next time, we have taken it all onboard and discussed it this week.
Soo if you would like to join our recap, maybe grab some tea and biscuits and join in with our conversation.
We hope to see you next week on our less dramatic adventures!! Hope you all have a great Sunday!
Our goal 10K subs 😁😁 Every little helps, so if you enjoyed this vid. Please drop us a sub.
