@@luminoustorus548 Upon hearing the whisper, your eyes widen and scan the room, looking to see if you may not be all alone after all. However, with no one in sight, you take a deep breath and move to the table to investigate. Everything is placed so nicely.... @ETPS while standing there you take your first tentative bite from one of the dishes, and gasp with shock.... never before have you tasted anything so delicious! Perhaps it has something to do with that odd movement you occasionally catch flitting about around the dishes and in your peripheral... no no that must be your eyes adjusting to the new ambience. You sink gratefully into the ornate, plushly padded dining chair. After dinner you discover the power has yet to be turned on and so, grabbing a candle you head upstairs. Minus your tiny sphere of light all is inky black wandering along the groaning floorboards of the hallway, until you begin to make out a glow coming from a far door on the right. Pushing open the cracked door and peeking in you are astonished to behold a massive bathing room and a full, somehow still steaming bath surrounded by many lit candles upon the edge and decoratively placed about the floor and steps around it. The scent in the room is most soothing, but again there is no one at all the be found... within the the darkest corners of the room you swear the flickering shadows seem to laugh...

This playlist makes me feel like what its like to move from London after inheriting your distant and slightly eccentric uncles house, only to find a bizarre and labyrinthine complex of an estate out on the moors where it never stops raining and you cant for the life of you escape that clicking clock! That damn, never ending, clicking, clicking, clicking of the clock! Like its counting down our final days, like its counting down the time until we all inevitably descend into that long good night! Always, always reminding you of the shortness of life! The life you took! The life you took in Africa! I SEE THEM IN MY DREAMS! I SEE THEM WATCHING ON THE MOORS! STOP STARING, STOP STARING, IT WASN'T ME WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER! IT WASN'T ME WHO KILLED THE BOY! *OH GOD! OH GOD! WHAT HAVE I BECOME!*

Beneath the moon's pale glow A shadow creeps, so slow Through the mist it lingers A presence felt with icy fingers Whispers fill the night A haunting, spectral sight Trembling, you take a step Into the darkness, where shadows wept A chill runs down your spine As the wind begins to whine The shadows stretch and grow Your fears begin to show Is it all just in your head? Or are the spirits of the dead Drawing ever closer now With a cold and quiet vow You cannot run, you cannot hide As the darkness swallows your pride The shadows take you, one by one Until the night's dark work is done.

_The ink-stained sky above was freckled with a collection of flaxen constellations that winked at the full moon swimming in the depths of the navy pool. The blushing pink and soft orange hues of the fleeting sunset were long forgotten as I pressed a hand to the cold window. The old grandfather clock chimed, singing it’s broken ballad and announcing that it had struck 12am. I thought back to how the rain had been so insistent on inviting itself in, pounding its angry fists against the windows and roof. It’s winds yelled as it pleaded and begged to get inside. I just could’ve sworn that it’s calls sounded much more human this time._

"Silent Hill", it reminds me that one time I was lost, in a the most beautiful rolling hills I had ever seen, I had gotten lost there because I was young, and thought it would be a enjoyable thing to do, to just... walk into the hills, and it was. The lower parts of the hill were shallow, not steep, the high parts peaked at a perfect flat, with no unexpected edge or depression. The only unexpected part about being there was the constant feeling of being watched but I couldn't be bothered, after all I was just a small child with a care free mind. After being there for over 5 hours I finally found a road, recognized the street, and was able to get to the parking lot where my mom had parked, there's this thing I do sometimes where I'll just stare back at where we leave from, I don't know why I do it but I do it every time I leave from somewhere I liked, so when I got in the back seat of the car and just turned around to stare my mom wasn't surprised at all, but I was, because when I focused just hard enough, I swear I saw someone's head peaking over the edge of a hill staring directly at me, silently watching.

"But now think about this: vampires themselves have no idea of what this creature could be. Now that’s a frightening idea… We may be in presence of something so old that only small hints of its existence can be found through eons. If this is true, we, as Brothers of Saint Paul, need to investigate this entity, for it could help us understand the forgotten origin of vampires. As a reminder, I add to this letter a transcription of the only written evidence we possess concerning the horned vampire, the odd poem entitled “The Dreams of the Red Queen”, supposedly composed by this entity. According to some vampire testimonies, this creature has sometimes been heard singing it while briefly appearing somewhere in Great Britain. I invite all of our Brothers to study this text and consider it a testament of forgotten history."

*Me without this music:* "ah yes it is raining outside in this small city of mine. How nice." *Me listening to this music:* The sun of yesterday has faded into dark ominous clouds that breathe in the new mornings’ air. Each breath releases thousands of raindrops upon the unsuspecting houses below. The light pitter-patter, reminiscent of quiet radio static, echos through the halls of homes littered throughout this corner of suburbia. As the church bells sound, alerting residents of the dawn, the once sleepy town becomes lively.

I was born deaf. It really never bothered me anyways. I could always just focus on whatever I wanted to do, without distractions. Oftenly my friends would write to me about stuff they heard in videos on the internet, so I could "hear it with them". Whenever I had the time for it, I locked myself in my room and closed my window, so no light could enter the place. It felt amazing to just bathe in the complete silence, only distrubed when one of my parents opened the door to call me for lunch or dinner. But then I moved away, to another house, in another city, in another country. That was also my first time living alone. Without friends or family at home to help me with sounds I couldn't hear, I developed a constant need for all the lights in the house to be on so I could navigate safetly in my own home. Not because I was afraid of the dark, no. But because I had no clue about who was turning the lights off everytime I left a room.

She stared and stared at the apartment that was directly across from hers. Many years ago, she would have looked at it with deep regret and a heavy heart, but now it simply symbolized a mystery that lay in the depths of her mind and chained her thoughts, always demanding to be solved. After all, it was in that apartment that her brother tasted his last breaths before he plunged the kitchen knife into his heart and silenced its beats. That night, he might have killed himself and ended his misery, but he began the misery of countless others..his parents, for one, who had always held a special love for their son, were more than heartbroken. Their health dwindled quickly and it was not more than half a year later that the burden of their grief was heavier than they could bear. It is said that their last words were a plea to God begging him for the forgiveness of their children...However that wasn’t what puzzled his sister Cathy and kept her awake all those months, desperate for an answer. She never believed the story of her brother’s suicide. She couldn’t accept it even after all those years. No one took her seriously when she suggested that someone might have taken her brother’s life, in fact they looked at her in a rather incredulous way...as if she was crazy for even insinuating the idea. Cathy, now standing at the door of her brother’s apartment, shakily pressed the key into the lock and turned...one time...two times...three times and it was open. She walked slowly inside, each step heavier than the last. Dirty, old, and small is what the place could have been described as. Tears dropped as the memories came through. As she walked into the kitchen, her eyes widened and her breath cut short as she saw the kitchen knife. The kitchen knife that was spluttered with dried blood, no doubt the last drops of blood her brother shed. The knot that had formed in her brain was finally beginning to untie...she began to remember, remember, remember what her mind had hid from itself. She remembered that night. She remembered the kitchen knife. And most importantly, she remembered how she had taken the kitchen knife and plunged it straight into her brother’s heart.

Normally I just let these comments go, but why on earth would this hypothetical person NOT get you listening to dark and sad music? At what point did this become outlandish or strange? It's music; classic, popular, and perfectly suited to listening to. It doesn't even have any harsh sounds or odd beats. Multiple songs here come from classic video games or popular modern movies. It's pretty tame, especially for dark music. It's not unusual to listen to this kind of music at all. You aren't a freak for it, and you aren't doing anything wrong or strange. You are, however, quite strange in your insistence that it's somehow hard to get that someone would listen to this. Other people enjoy music, often with odd or uncommon choices sprinkled into more common ones. My personal playlist contains Beethoven, Buckethead, ACDC, Psyclon Nine, Eisenfunk, The Prodigy, Metallica, Vocaloid, and the Silent Hill, Katamari Damacy, and Fall Guys soundtracks. There is no reason that someone would not get you for listening to this, or that this would either set you apart as special and unique or isolate you as strange and grotesque. It's music, pure and simple, and anyone can like it. Raise your head and enjoy it, loud and proud, because you aren't alone in loving this music -- I've been listening to one dark track or another for almost a decade now. Now, if you were in the comments of Fear Garden, that really weird and harsh Vocaloid song (which, trust me, isn't the weirdest or harshest), I would one hundred percent agree with you that it's unusual and hard to "get"... but this? Ain't nothin'. ;)

I get exactly what the person meant with "Why do horror games sound so beautiful?" Music is a wondrous thing, conveying different emotions and all feel so unique, some get you kicking through the day, others make you sad, others give you a sense of melancholy. Some make you relaxed. Some music makes you scared or terrified other music is ok. Some music opens gateways to different worlds just like books and paintings and creative things. Some combine everything into one. And this type of music has something about it, that is so hard to describe and yet what you can't put into words everyone knows what you mean, because everyone feels it, the ambience, the peace and fear combined, the security in darkness. It's beautiful. I absolutely love to listen to this music late in the evening, reading a book or just in a moment of peace where I space out and daydream, maybe like on bus rides on a rainy cloudy day. I cannot put into words what everyone here is feeling, but I do know it's beautiful. And that's the only word that's really needed.

It's like a large space has opened up in a part of your mind you normally can't access. You are the villain, you chase your whole life to be the center, be the hero, but you are a villain now. This is what the music makes me feel. It makes me feel like I don't matter, that I, who I think is the center, has now become secondary. Which is the same feeling when I feel deep levels of love.

The painting of the woman with the skull is by Nicola Samori. His artwork is of such a wonderfully dark and macabre beauty, and this particular image matches this great soundtrack perfectly!

K E N O P S I A: ETYMOLOGY: From Greek, kenosis "emptiness" + opsia "seeing" kenopsia, n. the eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that's usually bustling with people but is now abandoned and quiet-a school hallway in the evening, an unlit office on a weekend, vacant fairgrounds-an emotional afterimage that makes it seem not just empty but hyper-empty, with a total population in the negative, who are so conspicuously absent they glow like neon signs.

That reminds me of a recurring dream, maybe nightmare, of floating in a dark recess of some universe thousands of light years from ours. The sense of dread I feel is like nothing I've felt in waking life. There is a giant, Cyclopean planet or mass in my immediate view and I feel as if it is pulling me in. I had this dream for a few years when I was in middle to high school. It has haunted me ever since and your words brought me back to that dream.

It stalks now. The days are growing stronger, I grow weaker, I still carry my last wounds from our meetings. It gets closer everyday, those eyes of fire and blood get brighter, it’s stench, it’s slobbering growls louder. Whatever gods there be, may one help me. I know no other way to escape from it’s lust. Even now, it sits not 10 paces away, baring into my soul from the darkness.

Pretty much, but it was easy to market as erotica because the male protagonist was rich, hung, and attractive. If Grey had been fat slob in a bachelor pad then the story would have been classified as 'horror'... if it could have even been published with those changes.
